Man in a car parked outside my house all afternoon

PyongyangKipperbang · Yesterday 17:13

Since at least 2 pm. Terraces with on street parked so directly outside the house. He is has just been sat there all the time, engine on for half an hour then off again, presumably to stop the battery draining if he is using something electrical.

There are plenty of car parks in the area so no reason to be here. He saw my come back and go in the house so presumably its nothing to do with me, but its freaking me out a bit (and pissed me off as I had to park on another road!).

We are not on a road with shops or a school or doctors etc so no reason to be waiting there for someone for such a long time!

Worth taking the reg in case he comes back tomorrow do we think?

He could work for the social, have you any 'disabled ' neighbours claiming disability, but got climbing up ladders, biking and all manner of activities?
The have undercover officers watching these people, they get photo evidence and prosecute, benefits fraud is a big thing, these officers rely on tip offs

There is a guy down the road on the other side, who has been "on the club" for years with a question mark over how disabled he actually is. His wife, who I am friends with, left him a while ago and implied he isnt as bad as he claims and she was sick of carrying him, so it could be that. But he never leaves the house, think I have seen him once in 6 months, his son still lives there and I think took over what his mum had been doing before she left (which was everything according to her!). There isnt a neighbourhood group, or if there is I am not on it.

He finally left at about 7 and hadnt appeared to have been working, no laptop etc.

I wouldnt have noticed him at all if it wasnt for the fact that he was right outside my front door! I dont have time to be curtain twitching, I have one day where I am not at work or caring to get my shit done and that was today. DD mentioned it when she got in "Why there is a guy just sitting outside the house?!".

Its very very quiet here so perhaps thats why its more noticeable, if I lived in a busy town it would be different.

Spy - one of your neighbours is in cahoots with Russia, I say!

Viviennemary · Yesterday 21:01

He might be an uncover detective surveying one of your neighbours.

I'd have to ask him, he could be a PI hired to check on a cheating spouse!

He has all day to sit in your road... and you have all day to watch him.
You are as bad as each other.

This happened to me a few years back. I had had scammers trying to trick their way into my house the previous year so was hypervigilant of suspicious vehicles. There were no smart phones then so I overtly photographed the car, intending to ask the driver what his business was. However he quickly drove off when he saw me taking a photo. Must have been up to no good.

Nope! I live on Boring Street, in Dullsville! Everyone knows everyone on else on the street, he is catching looks from people over the road too, the couple who live there keep finding excuses to nip out!

Jesus I couldn’t imagine having such a boring life that the main event of the day is a random man sat in a car.

anniegun · Yesterday 21:34

sorry wrong thread

summersunnydays · Yesterday 21:35

@PyongyangKipperbang I’m with you and I’d be taking the registration number and a quick call to the police if he returns. It’s not “normal” as some people think to be sitting in your car for hours on end in a residential street. How long was he there for? I’m assuming he’s gone now 7 hours later??

ToffeePennie · Yesterday 21:39

I am often found lurking outside random houses for hours on end. Usually if I’ve seen a new patient, I like to drive away from the house, park up somewhere else and complete my paperwork in the car, whilst it’s still fresh in my mind. It usually takes about 2 hours to complete properly, but sometimes longer if they are more complicated.
its weird that he was there all day though! Deffo take his reg and 101 as a cause for concern if he’s back tomorrow.

Well the OP said ged been there since 2pm and posted at just after 5 so not really all day

PyongyangKipperbang · Yesterday 21:43

My life is not boring, I wish it was. I do not have "all day to look at him". I noticed him as he was parked right outside my house so my first thought was annoyance I couldnt park there (I know I have no right to it, but I can be annoyed if its not available!). Then I realised it was still there a while later.

I am a single mum to a teenage DD, I have work the rest of the week so she will be letting herself in and be on her own in the house. The idea he might be back when I am not there makes me very uncomfortable, we just talked about it and she doesnt like the thought of letting herself in with some random guy knowing she is in there alone, so she is going to my parents for an hour until I finish. They live around the corner, yes it is "that" sort of village! Not quite Royston Vasey but not that far off either.....yes I do want to move!

Really?

For a start undercover police generally don’t drive around in a blue & yellow vehicle with the word POLICE written in massive letters on the side. Bit of a giveaway in my experience.

They also generally don’t wear a police officers uniform, makes them look a bit like police officers.

They tend to wear plain clothing and drive a non marked vehicle. However the 20 antennas on the roof usually gives them away a bit.

Thanks for this @Dolphinsarejerks. I know virtually zero about this. Can I ask you how it is that you think they are " not remotely subtle" ?

Knock on the window and ask if he’d like a cuppa then you’ll know if he’s mi6, undercover police officer, dwp officer or some random axe murdering stalker.

Is it the random axe murderer who would accept the cuppa, but the others would tell you to do one?

BoarBrush · Yesterday 21:50

I must live on a different planet to some of these posters because what on earth 😂

A bloke sat in his car outside a house has people suggesting the police are called. Police!!

If someone was parked outside mine I might be vaguely curious as to why, but that's it. I'd just move on with my day. Honestly 🙄

I'd have got my specs on after a bit cause I'm a right nosey fucker and I never wear them at home unless watching the football. Wouldn't ever phone the police for it though unless something clearly dodgy was going on.

My new streets right boring.

I think its cos axe murderers are usually lactose intolerant so the request for oat milk is the giveaway.

Nope . It seems to be you nitpicking about some guy sat in his own car on a public street.

And even if he was still there it was still just after 5 you posted about it so 3 hours ( not all day as the poster I replied to said)
