Can I ask how many calories you eat on a glp 1?

Just curious. I’m also on my own non glp1 weight journey. No judgement around it whatsoever. Please can you disclose how many calories you consume. My issue is that I genuinely just eat out of boredom and having not made good choices post motherhood. I’ve lost 15 pounds very slowly. But I have made some good changes. Ie getting ready (bit of lippy) and walking to the local coffee shop instead of eating a packet of biscuits in front of the telly when bored.

Just seen a lot of friends who have always struggled with weight and had issues like pcos and thyroid issues lose weight very effectively. I can definitely keep to a deficit.

800-1000. Now i have 1500 a day and regularly attend the gym. Lost over 8 stone whist on them in a year, i went up to 15mg, i stayed on 5mg for about 4 months planning to stay on that dose long term, but stopped when the prices rocketed last august. I gained 0.5 stone back but now maintain at 8st give or take a few lb normal monthly fluctuations.

Well done. Did you feel light headed when eating 800? I think I possibly would. I’m aiming for 1300 whilst being moderately active.

No, i made sure to keep my fluid intake high, and blood sugars up with drinks that had a sugar value not artifical sweeteners, and consistently take electrolytes and managed ok.

custardlover · 31/05/2026 18:53

Also 800-1000. I don’t feel lightheaded at all. Drinking loads of water.

JBJ · 31/05/2026 19:04

1300 as recommended by Nutracheck where I log all my food. Lost 8st on MJ in a year

LaurieFairyCake · 31/05/2026 19:22

When losing 800-900. Maintenance for me is 1100 ish.

Daschy16 · 31/05/2026 19:32

1000-1200 for me. I have lost just over 8st and am on 7.5mg MJ. Trying not to go up higher because of cost and in the hope that I can maintain at a lower dose long term.
It is hard-going, and I still have just over 3st to go. I am only 5ft 1 so I am aware I will likely need to drop calories further soon which I am dreading.

Only 1100? Do you mind me asking why it’s on the lower side? I’ve put my details into chat gpt and was told my maintenance is around 2000. Which I think may be wrong!

I have no idea because I didn't track regularly. I lost nearly 8st and there must have been days where I was at about 800 because I got full so quickly.

porchiepalava · 31/05/2026 21:02

About 1500-1600 most days, sometimes more, occasionally less. Lost 9 stone.

coolastheproverbialcucumber · 31/05/2026 21:07

I’m on 1700. I have lost a couple of stone but over a year, I want to ensure I don’t lose too quickly as that’s a sure fire recipe for disaster long term in terms of muscle mass and nutrition.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/06/2026 14:57

excess of shortness (under 5ft), peri menopause, mid 50’s. 😂

Proteinpudding · 01/06/2026 15:23

Typically 1000-1300, I'm staying on a low dose to avoid going any lower. Before this I had tried and failed multiple times to lose weight, and when I tried to eat less, I'd struggle with hunger/tiredness and questioned whether I was trying to go too low.

Being on the GLP-1 has made me realise that despite all the fitness messages about fuelling your body for the gym, in reality as a short woman in peri, my maintenance calories are lower than I thought, I do need to go this low to lose weight and I can still function perfectly well, including in the gym! I know I'm not going to make huge gains in the gym on a deficit but it's helped me realise in future that I shouldn't 'listen to my body' quite as much as I thought I should. Previously I would get too hungry and convince myself that I 'needed' the extra food, but now I know it was 'just' hunger/cravings. I'm hoping that knowledge will help me maintain without drugs in future, feeling more confident about what's actually the right level for me.

GreenLemonade · 01/06/2026 15:45

1000-1200 per day. I’ve lost 3 stones, less than a stone left to lose to get to goal weight. It took 5 months. Before mounjaro i struggled to stick to a diet for longer than 2-3 weeks.

smooshraspberry · 01/06/2026 16:47

Between 16-1800 a day and done that the whole way through. I refused to go lower as I knew it would not be sustainable. Lost 5 stone and reached goal

Yellowsubmarine55 · 01/06/2026 16:58

It's all about how tall you are and your cutting TDEE figure really. As a shortie I was losing at 1100-1200 when heavier but six stone down it's getting harder as the figure is smaller.

Not long to go now.

holjam · 01/06/2026 17:00

While I was losing I was eating 1400-1600 a day. Now I’m in maintenance and I eat 1850.

susiedaisy1912 · 01/06/2026 17:01

1700 and lost 6 stones. But I’m struggling to loose anything now so have dropped to 1500 and will see how I get on. Still only on 8mg dose though as my stomach is so sensitive to MJ

Nn9011 · 01/06/2026 17:15

There are lots of people who eat far too little on a glp1 because they have it in their head they need to loose faster and don't understand the risks of malnutrition.
I have lost over 80lbs in a year and a half. Some months big losses, some months slowly. My starting calories were about 2300, now I'm around 1600/1800 depending on how active I am but tbh I don't really calorie count any more.
The biggest thing it has helped me with is portion sizes. I can eat a normal person's dinner and be full which had never happened me before. I also crave snacks and that has been lessened but it is still possible to overeat. I just really try hard to not restrict on snacks as I will binge and instead try to have a normal portion or figure out something else to do instead.

Anyone eating 800/1000 calories is doing harm to their bodies and are the ones who have higher risks of osteoporosis or gallbladder issues. A toddler needs more calories than that and the glp1 is just facilitating an eating disorder at that point.

You have lost over a stone and you can recognise where you're biggest downfall for food is. That's amazing. Don't get disheartened by other noise. A GLP1 is for life because it addresses metabolic issues, if you can diet and keep it off without them keep going. I'm not gatekeeping, I'll always support taking them if needed but it's not a short term solution and if used as such, causes more health problems in the long run.

This, exactly!!

Whatever people believe, there is no healthy way of losing several stone over just a few months.

800 is likely too low for most people, but 1000 not necessarily so. I'm short, very active, fairly close to goal and I am losing 1-2lbs a week on 1300. It would be less if I was sedentary.
I was overweight because I listened to too many people tell me that what I thought should be my maintenance and deficit was 'toddler calories'.

It obviously isn't recommended for someone to go from eating 3000 calories a day to barely eating, but how much each person needs varies a lot.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/06/2026 17:38

Nn9011

absolutely not true. If you’re much shorter and menopausal your calories needed are much lower, proven by the fact my MAINTENANCE is 1100 (or I put on weight).

I lost weight at a pound a month, occasionally 2 pounds. Eating 800-900 calories. I lost MUCH slower than you.

My healthiness is now off the scale, before I had chronic inflammation, pre diabetes. Now I can exercise and my DEXA scan says my bones are brilliant. No side effects, certainly no gallbladder issues as I lost so slowly.

You must stop posting as if everyone is the same - surely it occurs to you that if you’re 8 inches taller than me or a decade younger then my calories are wildly different.

I agree with this. I’ve lost 3 stones in a year but have been eating 1300-1500 calories a day and exercising. More calories on holiday. I’m happy with my slower weightloss and it feels sustainable as I’m eating enough and don’t feel deprived.

One persons experience doesn’t offer ‘proof’

I’m only 5’2 (on a good day) and I eat 1500-1600
a day and am still losing weight.

There will be plenty of women that fall in between both of our experiences and I think it’s quite arrogant of you to suggest that your experience is ‘proof’ of anything.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/06/2026 17:55

Obviously I’m saying proof for ME 😂 I’m 4.5 inches shorter than you.
my maintenance is 1100, if I eat more I put on weight
