Obviously different when you have children but I’ve seen a lot of single people constantly uploading to Vinted

Do you mean you think single people can’t afford it? This is so odd op.

Lola001 · 29/05/2026 17:50

Seriously, are you ok Hun?

FastFood · 29/05/2026 15:35

Maybe we wouldn't be single for long if we were to walk in the street butt naked.

I think I would be single forever if I tried that 😂😂

OriginalSkang · 29/05/2026 17:53

I'm single and run a small online business selling on Vinted and other places. Not sure how that is weird?

SoScarletItWas · 29/05/2026 17:53

I know OP, I went on Vinted looking for a frock and all I could find was sweatshirts with Single And Ready To Mingle slogans and used copies of Bridget Jones’ Diary.

Lilyhatesjaz · 29/05/2026 17:58

I saw a couple drive up to the clothes recycling bank at asda fill the boot of their car and drive off.

Didn’t say weird did I I was curious as to why

Oh that used to be me when single.

I filled that lonely void by excessive spending on material items in the vain hope that it would give me that same contented, smug feeling as the married with children folk!

It was always difficult to sell a lot of it given it was tear stained due to the singledom(!) with further staining from red wine and chocolate that I consumed to again feel as good as you do.🙄

That said, the demand for my Bridget Jones style bunny office was a very profitable. 😁

Would you like me to add any more sterotypes?

Come on, OP, it's none of your business but surely it can't be news to you that kids cost money and those without them have more dusposable income and time.

Well I’m not a single adult but am currently selling lots of my own stuff on Vinted. Some is too big (I’ve lost 4 stone over 3 years), some I just don’t wear any more but is still good quality, I have loads of wedding guest dresses from all the weddings I went to in my 20s and 30s… that’s why.

Well for the same reasons everyone else has stuff to sell.

why do you think?

How dare single people buy clothes and stuff. Do they not need clothes if they don’t have spouses?

cubistqueen · 29/05/2026 18:21

I’ve sold things on Vinted. Can’t remember the bit where I had to declare that I was a sad, lonely divorcee….

Jackiepumpkinhead · 29/05/2026 18:28

Why are some people so odd!

BeMellowAquaSquid · 29/05/2026 18:33

Fair point. I forgot that only parents experience the radical concept of no longer wanting a jumper.

Edenmum2 · 29/05/2026 18:34

But what does having a husband have to do with how many clothes you have to sell? Genuinely don’t understand what you’re saying.

Galaxylights · 29/05/2026 18:34

Well I do have a partner but no kids. So maybe I'm still odd according to you but I sold a lot of my old clothes I no longer wore or fit into and it paid my car tyre bill. Is that okay with you or should I be a bit more odd?

cubistqueen · 29/05/2026 18:43

nonmerci99 · 29/05/2026 15:32

People without kids have more disposable income so buy more stuff for themselves and will have more to sell?

Hang on. Is it single people with children or single people without children who the OP is criticising. As a single parent, I need to know - am I allowed to sell on Vinted or not?

morgan56 · 29/05/2026 18:45

I own so many clothes IMO. But compared to other people I know. I have hardly any!
I always have something to list for sale. Probably cause I’m always buying too

EmailsaysOOO · 29/05/2026 18:48

Well you could say that it's the single adults , ie adults without busy family lives, who would have more time to faff around on vinted. I don't know much about vinted but eBaying always used to be a real faff to list them you have to find the time to get everything in the post. If you've got kids, it's easier to offload stuff to charity shops, friends, family etc.

warmsmell · 29/05/2026 18:56

Nanda66 · 29/05/2026 14:47

How do you know whether people on Vinted are single?

This?

iseenyouwithkefir · 29/05/2026 18:56

If it's a single person with no children selling a lot of children's clothes and/or clothes typically designed for/marketed to the opposite sex, the most likely explanation may be reselling (e.g., secondhand clothing or clothing bought wholesale or clearance or with an employee discount). Another telltale sign for that is if the clothing is in various sizes.

Or it may be that they buy a lot for themselves and get tired of things quickly so want to recoup some of the money to buy things they like better. Or it could be that they've bought a lot in the past and now need the money for other purposes. Or they've gained or lost weight or made a big "lifestyle" change (e.g., going from a formal office to telecommuting 100%) and so have a lot of clothing in relatively good condition that they can't or won't use. It can take some time to get all of the stuff listed (valuing, measuring, photographing) so it may seem like they've always got something new when it's really just working through their stash.

Yes, excuse me. You said odd rather than weird. Which makes a big difference, obviously 😉

I'm not sure how wanting to make money is odd? And what effect being single has on anything?

Why would anyone sell things other than to get money for the things they've sold?

DiscoBeat · 29/05/2026 19:01

They're all out tonight

Odd as in how people have so much no the act it’s self. If I had the amount some. People are posting I would literally have to be shopping daily which I think to most would be odd no?
