Obviously different when you have children but I’ve seen a lot of single people constantly uploading to Vinted

These are people
that I know that post their links on social media. I meant it in the context I’m suprised people own so much that they clear out that much seems to have been taken another way

Why are you surprised they own so much? Are single people exempt from consumerism? I would think single people have more time on their hands so take more time to list and sell things unlike myself who just dumps it all in a charity bin because I have no patience for the "Is this still available and will you deliver" brigade on marketplace.

I think it's odd that you spend your time posting the most banal stuff on here

outdooryone · Today 15:20

I am looking at the clothes and shoes I am wearing today and wondering if I need to return them to single people I may have inadvertently bought them off..

Dermatologically · Today 15:22

I don't understand. My daughter sells her clothes on vinted. She doesn't have loads of stuff but she sells things on that she no longer likes. And before anyone starts grumbling about fast fashion, she buys a lot of stuff on there too.

There isn't one acceptable use of vinted - selling on clothes you've outgrown.

frumpydump · Today 15:24

I’ve sold an entire wardrobe’s worth of clothes on Vinted because of weight loss. I’m single.

Lahsania · Today 15:27

People post on the internet, yet without any cognitive abilities. See it all the flippin time.

Pinkflamingo10 · Today 15:28

Overconsumption and fast fashion are everywhere. Not just in households with children.

If your complaint about these people is that you think they over consume and buy too many clothes, fair enough, but what on Earth does that have to do with their marital status?

But why wouldn’t single people own stuff that they later sell?

nonmerci99 · Today 15:32

People without kids have more disposable income so buy more stuff for themselves and will have more to sell?

Newmeagain · Today 15:33

And it’s not only overconsumption.

i often buy on Vinted but you can’t return things on Vinted so if something does not fit then I sell it.

FastFood · Today 15:34

Can you imagine that some people with kids like to have cushions? That people who speak portugese might also like rock climbing? That radio hosts sometimes need to renovate their kitchen?

FastFood · Today 15:35

Maybe we wouldn't be single for long if we were to walk in the street butt naked.

CatMum27 · Today 15:35

I sell a lot of stuff online because my parents have died and I’m clearing out their stuff. I didn’t realise that was odd because I haven’t reproduced?

No, even now you've clarified what you mean it's still a weird take.

LasagneGoblin · Today 15:37

It's always a bit suss when people have tonnes of clothes in a variety of sizes, clearly been raiding the charity shops and selling on. Fair play to them like.

If they don't have kids then they'll have more disposable income to spend on clothes I guess, also fair play to them.

CieloElmers · Today 15:39

Do single people without children not have possessions? Or do possessions only appear once they are married and have children?

Miyagi99 · Today 15:40

I usually get a new wardrobe each year second hand then all the stuff I don’t wear anymore or have realised I don’t like (can’t usually try them on) I sell on or donate to charity.

Probably because it seems what you originally posted was not what you mean’t to say.

RealBecca · Today 15:46

Or maybe it's weird you're on vinted looking to buy so much "single person" stuff.

In my case, I'm having a midlife clear out. I've gone from wanting to own things (like books, games) to a rental mindset. I buy a secondhand game or book, use it, enjoy it and then resell it.

Because of that mindest, I no longer "own so much". Its constantly moving in and out and kept only as long as I need it, which means it is being used to the max and I get a tidy home with minimal but useful things that suit my current interests.

.... Maybe they just have more clothes than you.

Maybe they trawl the charity shops and it's a money making scheme...

Why does it bother you?

Have you never once had an item of clothing you've needed rid of? Never donated any clothes to charity? Never once thought "hmmm, this jumper doesn't fit as nicely" a d had to remove it from your wardrobe?

Or do you keep absolutely every item of clothing you have ever owned?
