Ironing before packing - am I wasting time?

Going on holiday at the weekend. I saw DH putting several unironed shirts and t shirts into the case.

I told him he should iron them and he looked at me like I have two heads. He said why would he iron them when they get creased in the case and he has to iron them on holiday before he wears them anyway.

I then said he should get the car cleaned before we go and he looked really confused. Not a priority and it’s just going to sit on the drive for 10 days, and he’ll take it if there’s time.

Who is right here? Am I wasting time on pointless tasks and making life more difficult for the sake of it?

AIBU?

I iron things that need ironing before I pack them but I don’t iron them again when they are creased when I get there. Cleaning the car before going on holiday is mental.

We couldn't not ever wash our car. There are trees over our drive and it gets covered in stuff falling from them. We do try to keep it covered quite a lot of the time but it's impractical to keep that up all the time. But washing it before we go away is not a thing. We'd just make sure it was covered!

Mine is constantly covered with crap - I’m a dog walker and pet sitter and go on yards, farms and into woodlands so it’s always covered in a layer of mud, dust, dog hair, sap and god knows what else - as I’m never going to sell it I don’t really care how it looks 🤣

I never iron anything and I seem to have survived.

What is ironing?

As for cleaning the car when it will just sit on the drive for 10 days - just why?? Do you really think that people who are passing are going to come up to it and inspect it?

Can't remember the last time my car was washed and it seems fine.

Team you op
Dp, does all the ironing and packing. It is perfectly fine coming out the other side of journey.

Ironing is getting the creases out of clothing, helping them to look and feel better.
It's not about helping you to "survive", it's just a personal aesthetic, really. No right or wrong either way.

Each to their own - I iron my clothes anyway so when packing everything is ironed, rolled and put into packing cubes. I clean the house and change bedsheets before going away as I like coming back to a clean house but I wouldn’t bother with the car. I’d leave your DH to pack however he wants to.

Yes, I'm the same, I iron anyway because I wear natural fabrics. I think if people wear polyester and leggings then there's no need.
I'd ignore the car though.
I like clean bedsheets to come home to as well!

I don’t really iron anyway or the majority of my clothes . But I don’t pack anything which is likely to get creased and need ironing in the first place. Have some linen dresses but don’t pack them for holidays
