AIBU to consider Botox for forehead lines at 40?

I HATE my forehead lines! I’m 40 and quite olive skinned and unfortunately enjoy the sun. I use SPF but I know it won’t change me getting lines! My dads are soooo bad! I am now wearing a hat and avoiding it but want to know anything that might help! I’m thinking Botox is my only option!

pic enclosed that will take a while to load probably.

Do it. I had it to relieve the lines around my eyes and I look ten years younger. I’m so happy with the results.

Overtheatlantic · 27/05/2026 11:54

I really don’t see a problem with those lines. Why do you so passionately hate them?

I feel like they make me look haggered! I’m at the age where lots of people around me are having stuff done. I know I shouldn’t care and my husband tells me I really shouldn’t care either! Wish I hadn’t soaked up the sun so much but I bloody love it!!

Don't buy into this crap. There is no need to inject yourself with shit.

Breaking News - you are getting older. Be grateful - the alternative is not so good.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 27/05/2026 11:58

Do it! I will be, once I've found a recommendation.

jeaux90 · 27/05/2026 12:00

Ive been having botox since my mid 40s, I’m now 54 and my friends whine about the fact they look haggard but they were all “no, just embrace aging blah blah” 10 years ago. You do it if you want to, it’s so quick, doesn’t even hurt enough for numbing cream. I love my smooth forehead.

This. Botox is, to me, an unfathomably weird thing to do. I think YABU to consider it any age but lots of people love it so you'll get a variety of opinions.

Overtheatlantic · 27/05/2026 12:01

They certainly don’t make you or any woman look haggard. I think it tends to be jowls that create a haggard look and those don’t appear for most of us until our 50s? Not all wrinkles are bad.

JazzHandsYeah · 27/05/2026 12:05

Those are normal lines for a woman your age!
Totally up to you but be mindful of a) choosing someone recommended and properly trained, and b), Botox isn’t a one-off thing but if money is no obstacle then go for it, at least it wears off if you don’t like it.

I can highly recommend Dr Jarvie at the Cosmetic skin clinic if that is anywhere near you, London and Bucks they have two clinics.

Additup · 27/05/2026 12:10

Yes, YABU to consider this. Your forehead looks completely normal.

managingexpectations · 27/05/2026 13:18

I’ve had Botox for about 13yrs or so and I bloody love it. I like my forehead to be frozen! I also get it round my eyes and 11s it just softens my whole face. I have a very stern look naturally.
Im very much of the opinion that it’s not hurting anyone else and makes me feel better so why the hell not. I can afford it so I do it.
just do your research and make sure you go to a nurse/dentist/doctor rather than a beautician that’s done a one day injector course to make sure you get the best placement for the results you want

CheeseNcrackerz · 27/05/2026 13:24

Give it a go see if you like it, how quickly it stops working etc. is it worth the expense? Give it a go and see how it feels. Just make sure you find a reputable and ethical aesthetician.

Thank you. I'm in London.

Go for it! If you don’t like it you don’t have to keep having it. Just be sure to find someone who knows what they’re doing. My lady used to be a nurse and is very knowledgeable and does free consultations. Nobody has ever noticed either, sometimes I get comments about looking fresh faced but I don’t have loads so my forehead does still move!

TheGreatDownandOut · 27/05/2026 13:51

Just to add, mine are much worse than yours so I think it’ll be very effective on you

MeganM3 · 27/05/2026 13:51

I would!

Stepmum900 · 27/05/2026 13:52

Yes get it done before they get worse

IwanttoWFH · 27/05/2026 14:52

Not unreasonable at all. I started getting Botox at 40 for lines in exactly the same place as you. I now get three areas (forehead, frown lines and around the mouth eyes). I love it and it makes me look much fresher.

WellFineThen · 27/05/2026 14:53

I started botox at 40 and get it done every 18 - 24 months.

If you don't want to right now, consider drinking more water. Being dehydrated, surface or internally, makes lines more noticeable according to my doctor. This is true with or without Botox.

Ophir · 27/05/2026 14:58

Definitely do it. I wish id started at 40, as it will also help stop more lines developing.

I started getting it in my fifties and it just stops me looking knackered. No one would ever know I had it, it’s not weirdly smooth or anything.

I go to a doctor and would recommend that, and personal recommendations

Jackiepumpkinhead · 27/05/2026 15:05

If they bother you, then yes, get it done. 40 isn’t young to have Botox. Plus it’s better to ‘nip them in the bud’ so to speak, than wait.

This is so true, dehydration makes such a difference. Wow you go a long time in between injections does it last that long for you out of interest?

Rachelshair · 27/05/2026 15:11

Get a fringe instead, no risk of lopsided eyes/ bad reaction.

Yes, I don't know why it lasts so long! I'm not complaining, though!
