AIBU to love this page? I’ve been ugly laughing over this one all day. I don’t even know why, I just think it does a really good job of highlighting the absurdity of how men treat us and how ludicrous it would seem in reverse

(no, I don’t run the page!)

Why are you laughing?
Why do you think it's ludicrous in reverse?
DH never treated me like that, he paid the nanny.
I know families where the DH has given up work when the DW made partner/CEO.

Most women I know aren't treated badly by their partners. They're too smart.

How very Mumsnet! The land of stay at home dads with formidable CEO wives.

I love the page too. OP. It’s brilliantly done.

WallaceinAnderland · 24/05/2026 18:18

It's funny because it doesn't happen.

There are no mothers out there who don't know when school holidays are, but there are plenty of men who have no idea. It's like no woman ever approaches her husband and says 'Have I got any clean pants to wear'. Just doesn't happen.

Tillow4ever · 24/05/2026 18:19

I love the page too op. And as much as the previous poster wants to gloat how wonderful her Nigel is, we all know from posts on here how fucking shit most men are.

Deadringer · 24/05/2026 18:19

I found him funny at first but its all very samey, and tbh I think sometimes the stuff he posts reinforces the stereotypes, if that makes sense.

I always assumed it was a women running the page….

RhaenysRocks · 24/05/2026 18:22

Have you seen Ladies First on Netflix? Its a 90 min film where a horrible alpha male gets transported to an alternate world where women are on top. Its very Life on Mars . Worth a watch.

It's not just about male partners, it's about how society treats women and the underlying assumptions. Like this re unisex shirts:

So don’t know anyone like this. I mean men like this. My DH was a high earning lawyer and he not only knew when his kids had half term would have suggested a couple things we could do. Sure there are some men who may be unaware, but they probably also pay for cleaners, Nannies and all sorts. Don’t know any wives of wealthy men who complain much.

RudolphTheReindeer · 24/05/2026 18:29

So it's ok as long as they pay the nanny? Bizarre

FernFaery · 24/05/2026 18:31

I've never felt badly treated by society. I've always felt being a woman is wonderful. We can do everything men can and have babies.

There’s ‘can’ and ‘can’. I ‘can’ walk through underpasses at night, but should I? DH doesn’t think twice about it.

It’s funny for 5 mins then.. yeah, 1 trick pony

FernFaery · 24/05/2026 18:34

Wynter25 · 24/05/2026 18:32

It’s most.

The people who say it’s ‘some’ have a strange Overton window issue where they think ‘but Nigel, Sam and Dave in my family all took time off at half term, so they’re great dads and equal partners’ - again not realising how ludicrous that sounds in reverse.

So you're not aware of the kind of thing the page highlights? Like the assumption that unisex means mansized, as in the example I posted? Or like the questions female celebrities are asked about re children that male celebs aren't, for instance? You can't be unaware that society treats men as the default?

It just seems stupid to me.

Competition and divisiveness may get clicks but the strongest partnerships are where we help each other and communicate.

Most men? MN only covers the tiniest percentage of the population. No, we know from MN that a subset of men are shit.
MN is an echo chamber and it would be incorrect to consider it representative of the world at large.

OneDreamyGreenMentor · 24/05/2026 18:38

Oh another slagging men off thread? What’s new.

Deadringer · 24/05/2026 18:42

What's wrong with slagging off men, a great many of them deserve it. If we can't do it here, on a predominantly female site, then where?

FernFaery · 24/05/2026 18:47

OneDreamyGreenMentor · 24/05/2026 18:38

Oh another slagging men off thread? What’s new.

When they don’t commit the overwhelming majority of violent and sexual crime, and so 50% of domestic labour and child care, we will stop ‘slagging them off’ Smile

I have a great partner, we've always been equals and I don't relate to any of this but I can still see the humour in it.

It's like the magic table video. Wouldn't happen in my house but it's still funny to see it portrayed.
