Reform councillor saying that she doesn’t understand the process. This is the reality of what people voted for.

Also see the amount of Reform Councillors who have quit or defected.

Reform UK has shed 22 councillors and counting in the two weeks since the local council elections on 7 May, triggering a series of costly by-elections.

While Reform won over 1,400 seats in the recent local council elections, Nigel Farage’s party is also shelling councillors to defections, suspensions and lost seats.

Stuart Prior, who was elected as a Reform UK councillor for Essex County Council and for Rochford District Council resigned on Monday 11 May, just days after winning these council seats.

Before the elections, it was revealed that Prior had shared racist posts on social media referring to white people as “the master race” and suggesting white people have “larger brains”.

Less than a week after being elected, Glenn Gibbins, a Reform councillor on Sunderland City Council was also suspended for posting racist comments Gibbons said that the Nigerian population in Sunderland should be melted down to “fill in potholes”.

On the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme on 10 May, Reform’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, was asked if he was happy for someone with these views to represent Reform.

Tice refused to condemn Gibbins’ comments and instead accused the media of “smearing” and “sneering” against Reform.
Ben Rowe, who was recently elected to Plymouth City Council has also been suspended for anti-Islam and antisemitic posts.

The posts were unearthed before the local elections, prompting Reform to say it was investigating the claims.

Another Reform councillor, Barry Martin, who said that the job of a councillor was “so dull and boring” resigned just a year after taking his seat.

Reform Party UK Exposed has published the full list of Reform councillor departures so far:

Sheffield have lost 2 Reform councillors in 2 weeks.

Merseyside has lost two as well - Jay Cooper (Holocaust denial) and Stephen Mousdell (hard core porn star).

Can anywhere else beat that?

Reform is full of shit. They can’t even be trusted to empty our bins- which is all the snivelling racists are any good for.

@RonnieForteWhiskyTalkinNSOULthe very same party. our council tax has risen. it does every year regardless of who is in charge. yet still there is very minimal holding to account for reform going back on their pledges.
we have crafty grimes in our area and he is the gift that keeps on giving in entertainment value. the comments sections on his social media are hilarious. you have to laugh or you’d cry.

Honestly, comments like this really do only deepen the divide. Reform are popular at the moment, because they are successfully convincing a proportion of society that they can improve their lives, and that all of their problems are caused my illegal migrants crossing the channel. Something which only started post Brexit, but we don’t talk about that. Until and unless one of the other parties come up with something radically alternative, and give these pockets of voters hope, there’s a real risk Reform could have a significant number of seats at the next election. Reform want everyone divided, what is it they say about ants in a cup & shaking them? Reform thrive on a divided nation.

Thick racist voters electing even thicker , more racist idiots to control multi-billion pound councils running social care, SEND provision and transport. What could go wrong? And even worse are some of the Mumsnet users who will micro-analysis a 5 year year old message of support for trans people , and then vote for a mysoginistic wife beater instead.

I’m in Kirklees, a large and (for big swathes) pretty deprived area.

I’m not even super anti Reform, I get why they’re so popular in a misguided way. I was disappointed my ward voted Reform when they hadn’t campaigned on a single local policy, just on national policies not under the remit of a councillor (the first red flag that they had no idea what they were doing).

But I have never before today wanted to cry because of politics. Because this is the absolute last thing our council - or any council - needed. I didn’t stand as councillor and have a better understanding of the council than they seem to. How can they possible admit they don’t know what’s going on, and still asked to be voted leader. The lack of self awareness is absolutely astounding.

Kirklees council is in chaos.

Looking down into a council chambers, circular rows of desks with people sat in smart clothes. In front of them a smaller desk with five people sat facing them. Screens are on the walls of the room and there are overhanging lights.

Kirklees Council remains without a leader after meeting chaos

The vote on a new leader for Kirklees Council is postponed to next week.

Hats your point? Reform will still be the next government. So you can protest all you want.

The salty folks should have thought about this before being cheerleaders for uncontrolled immigration, sky high taxes and giving benefits for fun and the crazy woke policies they live so much. You can hate Reform, but there’s more to come.

Surely our aim should be for neither? I don’t know why modern politics attracts such a poor calibre of candidates but that is the real question, isn’t it? Across all parties.

Thats a question for sure. But I think my question is equally 'real'. It's why when looking at Andy Burnham and this Reform person we have people urging a Reform vote in Makerfield, with 'respect for women' as their reason?
I'm not expecting you to answer, BTW. I know you are not the man who has posted a thread hoping to swing the Makerfield vote to Reform by framing AB as a misogynist with no respect for women.

I suggest you look at this

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/migrants-detected-crossing-the-english-channel-in-small-boats/migrants-detected-crossing-the-english-channel-in-small-boats-last-7-days

the data only goes back 7 days but for weeks the number of small boats has been 0

the ONS data yesterday confirmed immigration has dropped. Asylum seekers are down.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyp1ekd584o

the economy has risen 0.8% in the first quarter, comparable with other nations.

NHS waiting lists are confirmed to be down.

but who cares about actual facts hey?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · Yesterday 07:39

Not surprised at all!

The worst thing is that people think they’re part of some sort of rebellious, grassroots movement to stick it to the establishment by voting reform, when actually they’ve been utterly manipulated by billionaires, and are fighting to destroy the functioning democracy their ancestors did fight for for working people.

And they’re electing incompetent and often criminal idiots at the same time!

Danhausenrocks · Yesterday 07:40

I hate that reform have taken control over Suffolk county council. Their first priority has been to waste £100k on a legal bid to try and stop the county beig devolved in march.

even though it’s already been confirmed an appeal doesn’t meet the legal threshold

in comparison my ward elected a Tory councillor. I didn’t vote for him but I actually wish I had. Since being elected, every few days he’s been on our villageFB page

first, he introduced himself saying “hi, I’m your new councillor I know many of you didn’t vote for me but that’s all good. I’m here for everyone and I want to make this a better place regardless if party. My priorities are xyz and as soon as I get my email address I want you to get in touch with me to tell me your priorities”

then he messaged again to say “here are my contact details for everyone, I want to be visible so I’ll be setting up times when you cal all talk to me in person”

Then last week it was a post about “there’s a lot of confusion about the difference between a district and a county councillor so this is the details of what I can/can’t do, this is how the system works, this is where it escalates etc”

THAT is what we should all be expecting of our elected representatives. Already I have a level of trust in him that he’s genuinely there to help.

Her point is to bring attention to the issues we are seeing already when Reform candidates are in office.
A Reform government is only an inevitability if sufficient intelligent, decent people remain unaware of the incompetence, misogyny, racism and other extremism within their ranks.
Because I believe the majority of their supporters, while attracted to some of their policies for sure, would not be so stupid as to overlook these serious issues.
There will be some who in their blind hatred for anything slightly left of right would still vote for a pig in a turquoise rosette. But I'm hoping that you're in a minority. And that when intelligent thoughtful voters learn the reality of Reform with power (as highlighted by the OP) and the true extent of some of the racism, anti semiticism and misogyny of some of their representatives, they will pause for thought.

Mokel · Yesterday 07:50

Plus the cost of by elections is around £30k, depending on the size of the area etc. Tax payers money.

I bet many people who voted Reform earlier this month in the council elections have no idea what their pledges are. Plus voted re immigration. Immigration is a UK government issue.

People who live in Reform led councils are moaning

I suggest people join the social media group Reform Are Not Your Friends.

Burnham will be held to account for everything he’s said previously if he tries to position himself now as having different views. That’s fair since he is angling for PM. The Reform candidate should be scrutinised in the same way for whatever he has said.

I think Burnham has a good chance of winning but I am disappointed by the whole thing. The idea is he an outsider battling the Westminster elite is a nonsense. He has just had enough time since being part of the Westminster elite to distance himself from it.

Totally agree! It’s just not being heard by some. The average Reform voter seems fixated on small boat crossings. But it is true that they were barely a thing before Brexit, hence it’s ironic the man who spearheaded the campaign for vote leave, does not join up the dots. But I guess facts disrupt the narrative for him.

Mokel · Yesterday 08:01

There was talks around early 2010s to get voting age inline with jury ages (18-75, with those 70+ having the option to go or not, not being deferred).

If that policy was there in June 2016, we would have been in the EU as there was a positive correlation between age and voting Brexit.

People should not be voting if they think the DM is their bible

https://www.markpack.org.uk/176783/how-many-councillors-has-reform-uk-lost-since-the-may-2026-elections/

this guy is an interesting follow.

since the May 2025 elections, reform have lost 73 councillors.

already since May 2026 elections, it’s 15 councillors,

it costs £30k every time you have a by election, so to date, reform have spunked £2.6 MILLION of tax payer cash,

add to that the £900k Richard tice “forgot” to pay and the £7million that Nadhim Zahawi didn’t pay in tax, while expecting us taxpayers to pay for the heating in his sodding stables,

yeah this lot seems like they are going to be good for us doesn’t it..

How many councillors has Reform UK lost since the May 2026 elections?

A list of all the Reform local authority councillors elected on or after 7 May 2026 who the party has already shed.

Lord knows Labour have their problems but the Reform Party are genuinely evil.

Evil is the word needed to describe them, well done.
