Feeling devastated after seeing this news about Afghanistan

I stumbled across this on BBC — https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0q25dwj807o

I can’t stop crying. I feel so incredibly devastated that we live in such an unequal world. I cannot believe in 2026 people have to starve and children die — and girls be sold??? because of hunger. Goodness sake. That’s not right, it’s so inhumane. Seeing the tears on those tiny girls’ eyes and how fearful they are just breaks my heart so much, oh Gosh.

I just really feel sorry for these people who have to live under Taliban and suffer immensely. It’s so heartbreaking. And I know these people are not the only ones unfortunately…I just feel like we all have so much, more than we all need to and I wish we could just help the poor more as a whole world. But that doesn’t bring any profits does it???!

I wish I could do something to help, whatever that may be. Does anyone have a clue about what to do? I’d appreciate any insight. Thank you.

Jesus christ, its literally legal, the law is designed for these disgusting 'fathers' to be able to sell their daughters, in need of food or not. Doesn't that tell you everything about these revolting men? Who is 'buying' these girls? Do you really think you'd ever decide you had 'no choice' but to sell your child into rape, slavery and abuse? Death would be better.

I don't think I could let my child die, no.

As I said, the question is : was that actually the situation, or as you say, was it something already going on to a huge level due to other reasons?

It's legal due to the dictatorial Taliban, but the Taliban are drawing on the pre-Islamic tribal honour codes for their laws. I would like to research more on rates of child and teenager marriage historically, whether it was typically thus young, also.

Why have you excessively taken over this thread with tons of posts to tell us wimmin that being sold into sex slavery as children is better than being dead? Really think about what you’re saying here instead of the fantasy in your head that is very reminiscent of incel ideals and the premise of misogynistic steamy romance fantasies. 🤔 These are real girls FFS.

So you'd rather your child suffer unimaginable horrors for years at the hands of a paedophile rapist? How honourable.

Lovely for you that you get to safety ponder this from a philosophical angle though and not focus on the fact that it is legal for these men to sell little girls like property to be traded, to pedophiles, poor or not.

Yanbu. Sadly most countries with problems are ignored (apart from Palestinians of course). It's awful there. Also massive humanitarian crisis in Sudan. Haiti suffering food shortages etc. So many people in so many countries pretty much ignored. Unless, trendy, many aren't interested.

Men and their wars, rules, religious ideology.
