Seriously - you know that’s 9 stone? Is this a cheap way of getting a whole other person to come with you?

Thank you, will have to try this out

Will have a safety tether attached to me and dc, its just getting on and off the tube I worry about, plus the heaviness - 56 kg in total

Take a taxi or uber.
Where are you going to/ftom?
Eg heathrow take elizabeth line to paddington (easy access) then taxi for onward travel

What a silly comment, you don’t know where they’re going, for how long, what sensory equipment the OP’s child needs, what she’s taking to family etc etc. I’m sure she’s not lugging 56kg around for fun or without thinking it through!

@newyorknewyorkforevernewyork remember to book special assistance for the airport, when we travel they meet us at the special assistance desk and then help with luggage etc.

Oh give over. She could be going for 3 months and she wouldn’t need nearly 20 stone’s worth of luggage 😂

Thechaseison71 · Yesterday 11:17

Cant you have one large rucksack and one case if you really need to carry all that stuff

CoCoJones26 · Yesterday 11:21

Where on earth are you going (and for how long?!)that means you need 56 kg of luggage??? Just take less, all in one case, presume they will be laundry facilities wherever you're going!

KitKatPitPat · Yesterday 11:30

@newyorknewyorkforevernewyork i don’t know how expensive the luggage delivery services are but you could have a look? They collect suitcases from your home and take them to the airport for you.

Thank you!

We will have to pack lots of stuffed toys, blankets and then clothes - we need two suitcases!

I will definitely do that, theyre so helpful. Once in the airport it shouldn't be too bad at all, its just either side!

I imagine luggage transport would be so expensive though @KitKatPitPat ? 😕😕

The uber would cost at least £50 in the uk then 150 in the us - so expensive when I know i can do it by tube

No laundry facilities - we just need a lot of stuff for a winter break!

Put the stuffed toys etc in it and the heavier stuff in the case. I'm amazed to hear there are no laundry facilities in the US though

In the hotel? Tbh ive never thought about that 😄 so will check - even so, we will need lots of stuff

Have checked and its complicated - id have to do it myself. I dont want to be doing laundry with dd on our holiday!

OP posts:
ThisCandidMintGoose · Yesterday 11:45

are you relocating? Because that's an insane amount of "stuff" if it's just a holiday for 2!

If you are that precious about the content, you also need to split everything between the suitcases. They get delayed occasionally so you really need to be prepared to spend a few days with one missing.

Speak with anyone, everybody always has experience of luggage problem. It's not rare enough.

Why does it have to be in the hotel? Just drop at a launderette or many places collect and deliver

I know NYC had loads of laundries as used them

what on earth are you planning on doing? I rent the actual skis on site, but I don't need anywhere near half of that for a family ski holidays, and between ski and normal clothes, I already feel we travel with far too much stuff.

Honestly, that's too much for me! I cant be traipsing around ny with dc lugging a laundry bag!! 😄

Omg i cant do that 😄

I will pack the worn clothes back in the suitcase and forget about them until I get home, like everyone else!

Why on earth couldn't you do that? I'm totally bemused now. You can't take stuff to a laundry, you can't get it picked up and delivered back to you . Lol

And I wouldn't say that " everyone else" leaves dirty clothes festering in their case for weeks on end ( it's obviously a long trip needing all that)

Mind you I travel for a month or 6 weeks on under 10kgs so taking 2 huge cases is well out of my lexicon

Shocke · Yesterday 11:58

”Everyone else” is clearly not dragging 2 ridiculously heavy cases around New York.

newyorknewyorkforevernewyork · Yesterday 12:00

🙉🙉🙉 😄

Its a week long trip but we have lots of stuff

I am not using a laundry service when i'm on bloody holiday?!

I'm gonna go with these tach ones

Ok, so what was the point of the thread if you’d already decided? Weird.

Those cases will be ridiculously difficult to manage on and off the tube if you have 56kg in them. And they’ve set you back £350 but you can’t afford an uber.

What is so shocking about someone picking up a bag of laundry and returning it the same day to the door of your hotel room?!

if you insist on dragging 2 ridiculously heavy suitcases in the tube and all the way to your hotel, it's your holiday, but frankly people are trying to be helpful.

It's less painful to organise laundry once or twice in a week than dealing with ridiculously heavy luggage, half that might end up delayed or even lost on the way.

It's also cheaper to do laundry than buying very expensive unnecessary suitcases when you can't afford a taxi.

You and most people don't have the same definition of "holiday", no one is being mean.
