Evri saying that they can’t deliver a parcel because the “front door is inaccessible”

But they delivered another one yesterday in the exact time frame that this parcel was due to be delivered. Both parcels were due from 10:30-12:30. The one that was delivered was marked as delivered at 11:27. The message to say the house is inaccessible came at 11:28.

I’m assuming because it’s a suitcase, it’s in a rather large box. Bulky, but not heavy.

AIBU to complain to them? I don’t see how they can say that when they delivered another package yesterday!

The size and weight of the package could affect whether they can get it to your front door though. Is your front door up a lot of stairs or along a narrow passageway or something?

We have two routes to the door - down the drive or down the path. If it’s that bulky they can always ring the bell and I’ll come up the path, but we’ve had bigger items delivered. What I don’t understand is the courier came to the door with the other parcel yesterday. So why not knock and say “I’ve got another one in the van, can you come and get it?” They can’t say the house is inaccessible when they’ve accessed it!

N’evri lie a lot! I would complain to them and the retailer.

I’m going to contact Amazon as all Evri does is give me the chance to speak to their chat bot

personally I think you are wasting your time contacting Evri, they're useless and as someone else said they lie. I have always found Amazon customer services chat feature excellent once I get past the bot and speak to a real human, which is relatively quick and easy to do. They've sorted every delivery, return or quality issue I've ever reported.
from memory you have to access it through the website rather than the app but that may have changed. It's down at the bottom of the web site, I think you select customer service.

JohnBullshit · 17/05/2026 13:14

We had this a couple of weeks ago. No steps between the gate, or indeed the kerb, and the front door, and we only found out about our property's 'inaccessibility' on logging on to Amazon to find out why it hadn't been delivered inside the expected timeframe. Evri's chat function was pretty useless. Ended up with a refund, then a couple of days ago the package appeared at our front door.

What’s annoying is it’s a really good deal! So I don’t really want to have to give up and go and get one from the shops

I suspect it was too big for them to fit in their van with the other stuff. They sometimes give those delivery messages when they don’t physically have the parcel with them. Expect it to turn up in day or two!

This is my worry, our courier has recently changed to be an older lady in a beaten up car. I live in a small town so we tend to have the same courier every day. So if that’s the case it’ll never be delivered

I had a similar issue with DPD I think it was. I use their service regularly for various items, never been an issue. Then one day I had a delivery fail because "they couldn't find my house"

Which quite simply isn't true since nobody else has ever found it an issue, I'm not in the least bit rural, have several houses on my road let alone the estate and the house number is clearly marked. Even if it wasn't, the other houses next to me are so it doesn't take a genius to count upwards in 2s and be like oh yes that's the house I need. If all else fails I'm clearly visible on Google maps...

I think they just made up some excuse tbh.

Arcticsway · 17/05/2026 13:26

I've had a similar message (property not accessible) and it translates as they have run out of time and will deliver it on another day. It'll almost certainly turn up. I wouldn't waste energy complaining but good luck!

comeonyoureds · 17/05/2026 13:28

Albert the Amazon man is contacting the seller to get it re-delivered as a priority, and a month of Amazon prime refunded to me!

Evri always leaves parcels "in the shed".

I don't have a shed and they just leave them outside propped up against a wooden fence.

To be fair my delivery instructions state very clearly to put parcels by the front door as it’s not visible from the road and we live in a safe area

The problem with Evri (and DPD) is the service is only as good as the courier who has responsibility for delivering your parcel on that particular day. I’m lucky that our regular Evri guy is an absolute star but by god I can tell when he’s on holiday. DPD are dreadful around here and most of the time don’t bother attempting to deliver at all 🤬

comeonyoureds · 18/05/2026 08:52

They did it again yesterday! I got an email this morning to say they tried to deliver yesterday but were “unsuccessful” - they didn’t. I’m furious

Oh god UPS too, who cheerfully announced on Wednesday they tried to deliver my parcel but no one was home. I was not only at home all day, but also working opposite my front door.

JustAnUdea · 18/05/2026 09:05

Can you redirect it to the nearest Evri shop?

Tbh I’d keep complaining (or ‘raising a concern’) as the delivery person(s) don’t really seem up to the job. I mean, an empty suitcase in a box can hardly weight much. If they can’t fit it in their car(s) then that needs dealing with.

One of our Everyshambles delivery people ended up under a (?) Royal Mail investigation for some reason … for nicking/binning parcels. He was never seen round these parts again.

Why should i? I then have to get it home, I chose home delivery for a reason

I got this message once, and it was because my husband was in the front garden watering shrubs. I went out to ask if he’d seen anyone and he said an evri van drove by; slowed down but didn’t stop. They’re ridiculous.

Because your local courier is useless and you want your parcel. Its inconvenient but its practical.
