To expect ' family friendly' to mean lots of people with kids and picnics.

To be puzzled by descriptions of the far right march as a peacefully family day?
I saw a clip.with Yaxley Lennon driving down a road stating this and there were literally no children visible. I don't know what he was talking about in the context of what he was looking at it was just made up
Really in any case most people would not take kids.
Why in general has the truth become so unimportant? Like- I'm sure he could have got a picture of a family. But it wasn't even that important. He doesn't think anyone cares about truth in what he says.

I expected meant that it would be calm, no violence and no swearing.
Was it?

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 17/05/2026 11:52

I think he meant it was a great opportunity to bring your children and teach them how to be racist.

fabstraction · 17/05/2026 11:59

To me, family-friendly just means it won't be dangerous or inappropriate for children to witness. No drunken brawls, over-the-top swearing, overtly sexual behaviour on display, etc. I wouldn't expect it to mean that it's particularly geared toward children—and certainly nothing to do with family picnics.

Omega3fishoil · 17/05/2026 12:09

you are obviously confused.

there are hateful people on both sides, from the pro Palestine marchers there were chants of’shoot Tommy Robinson in the neck like Charlie Kirk’.

that doesn’t mean that all of those marchers had that intention

Well all the more reason you'd avoid bringing kids I'd have thought?
In what world is that family friendly? He specifically said families were out.

In this scenario it means that every child gets an Oswald Mosley teddy to take home with them and a nice pair of black jackboots in sizes 0-13.5!

I’m not sure if there were any calls to murder anyone in the unite march, I’ve only heard about this from the pro Palestine march

Koleev · 17/05/2026 13:06

I think you've mistaken a political rally for a park.

The point is that Yaxley Lennon was saying there were families there- and from what I've seen there were no kids much- maybe he meant people brought their parents?

I spotted some children on their parents shoulders in the clips they showed on the news.

Yeah, far right never shout about violence. Or ever carry it out. Not ever.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 17/05/2026 22:28

I saw children and grandparents and even some very posh accents on TikTok live.
I didn’t watch it for long.
I would never bring a child anywhere that had the potential for violence.

There were at least 20 arrests of right wingers according to the times of Israel

I think that's Reforms latest thing- 'even posh people and families like us' it's the bit of the electorate they are going for. But I saw Yaxley Lennon claim he'd seen families when there were no families. So it sounds like a line to me.

I thought this thread was going to be about a misadvertised National Trust property or some such.

There is plenty to criticise in relation to Tommy Robinson's hateful excursions but this isn't one of them. Clearly all that was meant was that they were not aiming at a violent event.

You could always give them a negative review on PrickAdvisor, for the lack of a children's activity trail, though. I heard that the IT for the event was completely crap too, which could lose them another star.

Littlepixie75 · 18/05/2026 06:47

I was in London on Saturday for a long planned theatre trip and was horrified to see quite a few children draped in Union Jack flags heading to the UTK rally. So there definitely were kids there. All with their dads, all of whom were drinking cans of cider walking down the street at 10am.

Tbf it's the far left shooting political opponents and sledge hammering police officers.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 18/05/2026 07:00

Let's just hope that there aren't too many innocent children there. No child should be brainwashed into racism and hate.

RoniaCheetah · 18/05/2026 07:17

I definitely know someone who was there with his 12/13 year old son. Taking happy pictures of them both and sharing updates and pics on a group WhatsApp, which includes people of a range of ethnicities. Pretty offensive but at least everyone knows who he is now. WhatsApp is for parents of U13 football team in London.

No he was driving down a road he was videoing on his car camera saying 'look at that it's families' and not a child in sight.

Course you have. The Far Right are never violent. Nope. Not them!

Well there was one 15 year old girl there because there is a pretty viral clip of a creepy old bloke chatting her up and saying he was about to do jail time!

Maybe it's blokes in their 60s with their 30 something sons!

Snorlaxo · 18/05/2026 16:48

Somebody on here posted about a march to support victims of grooming and support of children’s futures happening on the day. Maybe there were some kids on that bit?
