Posting here for traffic. If you’re 5’8” and around 10st 8lbs what size are you? And what’s your BMI? My bmi is 22 and I’m between a 10 and a 12 but I think I must have a large frame or something cos I thought I’d be an 8-10 at this weight/this bmi

if you're the same height and weight then your BMI will be the same!!
I'd also expect you to be less than a 10-12 at that height and weight, I'm shorter than you and definitely would be. But can depend if you've a higher muscle or higher fat composition, bigger boobs etc.

romanholidays · 12/05/2026 10:47

It’s entirely dependent on so many things. I’m 5 foot 3, 15 stone 9 and I’m a size 16-18.

Edinburghprimaryschoolp6 · 12/05/2026 10:49

I'm a size 8 same height but weigh 8 stone 7 so you sound right tbh

RedTulip86 · 12/05/2026 10:54

5’6 here with exact weight you mentioned.
Trousers 10-12, top 12-14 (generous boobs)

I agree with what @MiddleAgedDread said. Years ago I was working with my friend in clothes shop- we were in exact same sizing, the same height but she was nearly 2 stone heavier.

trainedopossum · 12/05/2026 10:56

I’m an inch shorter and half a stone heavier and I’m a 10-12 on top and 12-14 on the bottom.

OnionFishDiamond · 12/05/2026 10:59

I’m 5ft 9 70kg and a size 12.

Almina · 12/05/2026 11:05

I'm 5'9 and 10 stone 8 and I'm size 12, 14 in some more tailored things like Margaret Howell. An M&S 10/12, basically.

To be a size 8, which I was once when I was really ill, I'd have a BMI of 17, which is unhealthy. To be a size 10 maybe BMI 19. Not a goal!

CBAwithallthethings · 12/05/2026 11:05

Depends on the shop! But I’d have said 10 to 12 sounds about right, closer to the ten than the 12 probably

RampantIvy · 12/05/2026 11:09

I'm 5"7 and weigh the same. I'm a size 14 and don't believe anyone who says they are a size 8 or 10 at this weight.

Pearlstillsinging · 12/05/2026 11:11

When I was 10st 4lb, from the age of 17 to almost 40, height 5'8", I was a size 12 in most shops, size 14 in a few. I have never been size 10. Oh, those were the days.

sunflowerdaisies · 12/05/2026 11:11

When I was that weight at 5’ 7 I was a size 12 top and size 10 waist as I have bigger boobs. I’m 11.5 stone (but lost 9lb!) and still in size 12 top but size 14 bottoms.

Madamblueshoes · 12/05/2026 11:12

5 foot 8 and 9 stone 11. I am a size 12 but always feel I should be a 10 or even an 8 on a good day, specially with friends a stone heavier but the same dress size. Bmi about 22 I think.

Wouldcou · 12/05/2026 11:13

I’m 5ft 7 and fluctuate around that weight I’m an 8-10, however I do try to lift weights so maybe our composition is different

Manyleaves · 12/05/2026 11:17

I'm 5'7 and 10st, so probably similar build? I measure a 12, but everyone makes clothes much bigger than the official measurements. Mostly I wear a 10, but increasingly I'm finding an 8 fits better and this weekend I had to return size 8 jeans to River Island because they were too big - but also couldn't get into a "S" top!

In the 80s, as a teen I used to buy a 14 and my weight hasn't changed.

Sizing is all over tha place to the extent that it doesn't really mean anything IMO.

I’m 5 ft 2 and was a size 8 at 8st 7.

CombatBarbie · 12/05/2026 11:17

9st 5 and I am 10/12 depending on the shop. Last time I wore an 8 was when I was ill and weighed 8 stone!

ohyesiseethatnow · 12/05/2026 11:20

Im slightly shorter, 5 ft 6.5

10 stone 7

im a 10/12 on top, leaning towards 10

12 on the bottom

pear shape - small chest, wide hips

Same height and weight as me but opposite shape SmileSmile

I’m a 10/12 on top, small chest, 12 on bottom (down from a 14) due to wide hips.

im a pear shape, guessing you are an upside down pear Smile

Spottyvases · 12/05/2026 11:23

I'm same height as @Fearlesssloth and weight . Basically size 12 in everything

I did 9 and a half stone once upon a time and was size 10 then .

At 10 stone 7 not going near a size 8 in anything

Spottyvases · 12/05/2026 11:24

*weigh

5128gap · 12/05/2026 11:27

A 5' 8" 10.5 stone apple with a 32" waist would need a size 14 in a garment with a fitted waist.
A 5' 8" 10.5 stone hourglass with a 26" waist would need a size 10 in a garment with a fitted waist.
Apply similar variables for different body shapes and different clothing cuts and you will see that clothes size is very inconsistent amongst women of the same height and weight.

HideousKinky · 12/05/2026 11:28

I'm 166cm tall
I weigh 65kg
BMI 23

I have clothes in everything from a size 8 to a size 12!

whywonthelisten · 12/05/2026 11:32

I'm the same height and weight and a size 10. I am quite small boned though, narrowish hips, small ankles and wrists. I am actually carrying a fair bit of fat, despite my BMI. I am much better at around 61/62kgs (approx 135lbs) but I haven't got sound to losing weight post kids.

HoldMyWine · 12/05/2026 11:32

I’m 5’6”, weigh 11 st 7.
I’m a size 12 top and bottom but I’m quite muscular.

Usedoccasionally · 12/05/2026 11:34

I’m about an inch taller and about 1/2 stone lighter - I’m also between a 10-12 so to me you sound about right
