So... sunday lunch/ dinner at someone's house, what time would you reasonably expect to eat?

One side of the family (a) thinks 12-1 for lunch or 5 onwards for dinner. There are young children in the family and this makes sense for their meals, but also this are the general times in mind when planning the day.

The other side (b) think any time between 1 and 4 - usually around 3.30, but this changes, as this is the general vibe in restaurants etc.

A thinks b are ruleless heathens, b thinks a is uptight and inflexible.

Oh the poll hasn't worked! I had put who was right a b or neither but for some reason it hasn't saved that way

same as every other day, breakfast around 7 (just some yogurt and fruit, or a poached egg on toast, coffee and tea) Lunch always just cold lunch or sandwich and soup around 12:30 or 1. Then our evening meal around 6-7. I normally don't do roast dinners often anymore as it is too hot here to heat the oven, So on the grill with some meat, couple cold salads, or sometimes some potatoes and grilled veg. I am feeling sorry for myself today, husband flew to Canada yesterday for ten days, and is enjoying a lovely brunch to celebrate mothers day (today in Canada) with our our daughter and daughter in law and families. I sit here, so far away and celebrating myself with a bagel and cream cheese for brunch.. then will make some shrimp tempura sushi and binge watch a tv show this evening. ah well.( Extra bonus for me, in about 2 hours I am sure I will see a big amount come out of our bank account for a meal that I would love to be at hahaha)

Oh I am with (a) all the way.

If we are eating at home we usually have Sunday dinner at about 6 or 6:30pm, because then we can go out during the day for a walk.

If we are meeting friends/family for Sunday lunch I would be looking at , ideally, 12:30 or 1pm. At the latest 1:30,pm.

A big meal at 3:30pm has nothing to recommend it in my book. We don't have any small children anymore but I still wouldn't want to eat at that time. To the point where I would (in fact have) turn down a suggestion to eat out where that has been the only available sitting.

Sunday roast - or whatever your big meal is on a Sunday - is at about 7 in the evening for us. But, if we had people round/met people for lunch on a Sunday, it would be at about 13:00 to 13:30.

I think 1/2 lunch especially if small kids eating.
6 for kids dinner.
7/8 adults.
