AIBU to order a steak while short of money?

First of all this isn't a begging post and I don't want money from anyone.

I'm currently housebound while recovering from a major illness. Just starting to get my appetite back and I have a major craving for a steak. I genuinely can't stop thinking about it. I very rarely eat red meat in general and currently I'm not well enough to cook one by myself so I was planning on ordering one in for my dinner. Only issue is I have a very limited budget and it would leave me a bit short until I get paid next Friday.

Wibu?

Glad you enjoyed it @Dogingarden Sometimes you need what you need. Providing bills are paid and you're not going to starve, there's nothing wrong with treating yourself every so often.

I am so sorry if I have missed something,.I don't mean to be unkind or facetious. A steak bought from a supermarket (via online delivery/Amazon. ..whatever) would take 2 minutes of frying either side, so 4 minutes in total...is this not an option? I'm perhaps being naive, or maybe don't understand if you're unable, but I'm not understanding why not, and why it has to be a takeaway? Which Will obviously cost more.

I wondered that too. Frying a steak is hardly any more effort than heating up the 'easy' food that the OP mentioned (tinned soup)

I don't have the arm/hand strength or co ordination to manage a frying pan at the moment. I'm also using oxygen at home currently and have a gas stove so I'm not allowed to actually use it.

Iam glad you ordered and enjoyed your steak Op.

Ladies, if someone is risking leaving themselves short for the week, instead of buying a steak to cook, because they aren’t well enough, then there is absolutely zero need for you to question them until they feel they have to give details they were clearly previously uncomfortable revealing

Thank you. I very much appreciate your post.

As has been said above, my first thought was deficiencies.

I often find that, when I crave things so deeply, it's because I'm deficient in something.

So, if you're ok with being short, and don't mind the extended resting time, go for it. It's what your body is asking for. As long as it doesn't mean that you don't have enough food until you next get paid.

I am so pleased your ordered it op. I quite fancy a steak now if truth be told!

The best steaks are cooked in the oven. Literally get one of those glass Pyrex dishes Lovett in there and chuck it in on a 180 for half an hour.
You’ll get a lovely well done steak

Yikes, well done is really divisive, many thinks it ruins it. For me it’s fried on a cast iron griddle.

This just makes me feel sad for the steak

Unfortunately because I use oxygen at home currently I am not allowed to use my oven.

Well, I hope you don’t go to any restaurants cause that’s how they cook them
