And we can at least vote to stop that happening

plims · 03/05/2026 20:56

I really wish I could vote on Thursday!

HedgeWitchOfTheWest · 03/05/2026 20:59

No voting here either. But even if there were I have no idea who I’d vote for anymore. They’re all crackers.

WheretheFishesareFrightening · 03/05/2026 20:59

Your worst case scenario might be my best case scenario, so I’m not sure calling everyone vote will stop a worst case scenario.

But people should go and vote. I already have.

Figgysmum · 03/05/2026 21:01

I’d love to but no voting in my area

TheChosenTwo · 03/05/2026 21:02

We will all be going to the polling station on Thursday. Last time I took both my dds for the first time to vote (them not me) and it felt like an historic moment!

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/05/2026 21:06

We voted last year, not our turn this year. But enjoy those of you who can! I bloody love elections.

Bunnyofhope · 03/05/2026 21:10

I literally can't decide. I just can't. Labour, libdems, and the independents are all in favour of a local issue I am very much against. The conservative hasn't produced a single document about what he believes or plans to do - absolutely nothing. And Reform and the Greens stand with me on the local issue, but I can't bring myself to vote for either of them because of party wide issues. Any advice anyone?

GeorgianFavade · 03/05/2026 21:12

Sorry, I’ll pass.

I’ve voted Labour in every election since 1997. I can’t in good conscience put my X in their box currently.

Reform and the Greens are totally nuts.

I’d never vote Conservative.

There’s a 5% chance I’ll change my mind and go and vote Lib Dem.

If the issue is major housing development I think I'm in the same situation.

Haha, it is!

MissyB1 · 03/05/2026 21:22

Dh and I will be going, 17 year old ds is gutted he can’t vote yet! Torn between two candidates, will do a bit more research and decide on the day probably.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 03/05/2026 21:30

Bunnyofhope · 03/05/2026 21:16

Haha, it is!

No advice but if it's your top priority (like it is mine) I'm going to vote strategically. My votes on local elections never really align to my General Election votes where that's about the party I want to represent me.

RedRiverShore6 · 03/05/2026 21:31

My area isn't voting either

MyCottageGarden · 03/05/2026 21:34

There’s no elections here on Thursday

WilfredsPies · 03/05/2026 21:36

No voting in my area, but I’m politically homeless. I wouldn’t want my vote contributing to any of them having any power. It’s very difficult to decide what to do.

sleepwouldbenice · 03/05/2026 21:38

I dont get to vote in this year's local elections
I am a floating voter in the national election sense. Voted conservative, lib dem and green in my recent life
If I were able to vote I think I would vote primarily for the local candidates personal contribution to local issues
Otherwise my "protest vote" would now be lib dems. Cant cope with the extremes at the moment

Have you looked at the Conservative offering? Rather than say 'never'? Because frankly Labour, the Greens and Reform are all terrifying options. The Lib Dems think that some women can have a penis , thereby negating the female sex entirely as a single sex with associated rights (as do Labour and the Greens).

sleepwouldbenice · 03/05/2026 21:46

For example the " what is a woman" issue is important
But really not a defining issue any more. Its passed

Marmalademorning · 03/05/2026 21:47

Yes, the centrist parties have been a massive disappointment and frankly they don’t deserve to be in power. But before you vote for one of the other parties think very carefully just how much worse things could be. Restore and Reform care mostly for the rich and they use the migration issue as bait to lure disgruntled voters who feel like they’ve been ignored. The Green Party meanwhile, have been infiltrated by extremists and don’t have a clue about economics or how to run a country. I think we will be very lucky if we end up with one of the mainstream parties come the next GE. If you usually vote Labour and hate Tories, please think very carefully before voting Green and vote Lib Dem instead.

Wow... it really hasn't. I never cease to be amazed by how flippant people are about women's rights. Disgusting, it really is. And imbecilic,

Do not vote Lib Dem if you value women's rights

StandOutSpace · 03/05/2026 21:53

I will.absolutely be voting. Ill be voting for the candidate thats already in place in my council ward.
But I am keen to understand what you mean OP- vote because there is always a worst case scenario- what do you mean? As PP has said one persons worst case is another persons best case. Surely the point is- just use your democratic right to vote?

Marmalademorning · 03/05/2026 21:54

Well I think women’s rights will be much better protected under the Lib Dem’s than they would if the Greens ever got in.

Not that this is a General Election, but a policy to take the UK out of the ECtHR is a disqualifying one in my view.

Not implying that you're one of them, but its absurd to me that some on the right react very angrily to perceived infringements of freedom of speech under Labour ("jailed for a tweet") and yet support parties who would strip us of most of our rights, and mechanisms for enforcing them against our government.

Any independents closer to your views?
