To ask: if your are anti-Reform and in Wales...

is tactical voting needed?

I am trying to work out if tactical voting is needed in Wales to keep Reform out, or whether the new PR system makes that approach redundant.

For example: if the local opinion polls show Plaid first Labour second, a vote for either will do the job? But anywhere where it is Plaid first, Reform second or vice versa, it has to be Plaid?

What do other anti-Reform people in Wales think?

YABU - tactical voting not needed under the new system

YANBU - it is still needed

(There are a few threads encouraging voting for Reform running at the moment, so assume this one is OK).

I'm in the same area as you two @KimHwn @Periperi2025

The Foden matter was absolutely horrendous and totally unforgiveable. However, I've had a lot of good dealings with Cyngor Gwynedd and have been quite impressed with them on a number of occasions. I lived in Ynys Môn for many years and their County Council was diabolical.

Our MS has been amazingly supportive and active on behalf of myself, neighbours and other villages across the county over the last few years and I will most definitely be voting for her again in the upcoming Senedd elections.

So far I've only seen Plaid canvassing in our (very Welsh) village. I don't think Reform would get a warm welcome from anyone here but we've had some crap through the post from them. It's easy to just go through the Electoral Register and send a pamphlet out to each address, isn't it?

In my constituency there have been four opinion polls putting Plaid first, reform second and Labour third.
This area is normally a Labour stronghold but they are way behind the other two.
So, I will be voting Plaid for the first time hoping to keep reform out.

Just don't vote for a party that thinks a woman can have a penis and you should be fine

There's more to life than trans issues, and I consider myself gender critical.

Yes, sound advice! Thing is…Here in Wales, that leaves us with just either the Conservatives or (shudder) Reform.

I think I am voting Plaid. I don't know. I am feeling really down by the fact that my constituency is likely to be a Reform win. No one has knocked on my door, but the postal stuff really seems to be targeting my teenage DD, she's received mail from all parties, unlike DH and me. She's having lots of fun practising the old art of political posters vandalism.

This is the first Senedd election in which 16 year olds can vote isn’t it?

North East Wales here.
with the constituency reform ( down to 16 ) and 6 MS per constituency based on PR, I fear Wales is going nowhere, probably backwards from now on.

Second, I believe. I suppose the good thing about lowering the voting age is that her school (so I assume others too) have been having assemblies about the importance of voting and encouraging them to register.
