Just looking for a bit of a sense check really. When your DH/P goes away (with friends/work etc), how often would you normally expect to hear from them?

I don’t mean constant messaging, but just general contact – a good morning, goodnight, a quick check-in during the day?

Trying to work out what’s “normal” vs what’s just me having expectations that might be off.

Would be really helpful to hear what it’s like for others.

Once a day ish depending on what we are both doing

I’m away from home 3 nights a week for work and we video chat for a 30-60 minutes each night. And a couple of messages during the day.

Generally once a day by text. Certainly no more than that, unless there was some urgent or important reason.

Maybe once or twice a day, just a photo or messages on the family WhatsApp - and he’ll usually let me know when he’s setting off for home so I know what time to expect him.
He’ll call mainly to speak to the DC if he’s away longer than a couple of nights

Probably twice a day a good morning text and maybe a longer text in the evening .

No set pattern. Depends what we're away for, how busy we are etc. We don't message unless we have something to say - I don't get "good morning" or "good night" texts with no other information. Usually we send each other pictures of meals or cute dogs or inspiring left-wing graffiti. I'm the one who travels for work so I'll probably vent about my colleagues. But no set frequency, sometimes multiple messages per day and sometimes none for a couple of days.
