House not selling (with listing)

Housesale2 · 13/04/2026 16:33

Any thoughts welcome - awkward lay out? Decor? Anything else?

To pre-empt a couple of questions; it was originally listed at £400,000, and there is parking for two cars (one on the gravel, one on the right)

A bit of decluttering & new photos will do wonders. Put a bed in that room with boxes.

namechange864 · 13/04/2026 17:34

So much clutter - it looks like a lovely family home but to sell you need to maximise the sense of space. Rent some storage and remove at least 50% of stuff, try and ‘stage’ it more. The bedrooms in particular look really cramped. Hide the pet cage somewhere for viewings and get all your photos redone. Consider repainting the feature wall in the living room - the blue is nice in the kitchen but a neutral colour would work better for the living room.
I’d also tidy up the garden and shove some plants in, and repaint the front door a different colour, red is quite dated.

IwanttoWFH · 13/04/2026 17:34

I think the picture of the front of the house isn’t great. Looks a bit messy. I’d ask for pictures from a better angle, showing the drive and garage. Could you paint that fence panel at the front and try to freshen the front up a bit? Some hanging baskets perhaps? How old are the windows?

I wouldn’t have the front as the first picture. I’d have the kitchen. Some better pics of the kitchen are needed.

I’d also remove a lot of the stuff in the picture with the rabbit hutch. The beanbag and the sofa is too big for the space. Get rid of the clutter.

The rear garden pics are a bit sad. Cut the grass and try to tidy it up a bit and different angles.

Random321 · 13/04/2026 17:35

I don't know the area so nonidea if priced right.

Remove all signs of animals
Bedrooms look very small other than master.
Photo 12 needs replacing - it looks like there's no space.
The office photo looks like the room is much large than the bedrooms, even when visualising a bed in it (yet they are broadly similar on floor plan).
Add the floor plan to the pictures rather than seperately below.
Parking - ask agent needed to be changed - it ususlly means permit or not strsightforward.

That said, none of them couldn'y be overlooked if people were interested so most likely the price.

rwalker · 13/04/2026 17:36

Beds are to big for rooms make the rooms look small possibly some plain neutral bedding might make them blend in a bit more

fireplace dreadful clad end bits where the tv is and other end with mdf and paint same colour as walls again to make it blend in
You might get away with painting fire place same colour as wall
suite is pensioner friendly it clashes you gone for modern floors and walls and 90’s sofa
At best some throws

apologies if that’s harsh

MyNeedyLilacBird · 13/04/2026 17:37

I really hate the windows and that would put me right off from the getgo. Upstairs is also odd that there are 2 bathrooms and no ensuite. The bedrooms look tiny so that'd also put me off. It's probably the price as I feel there's quite a lot of things I'd need to change

youalright · 13/04/2026 17:38

Well im no help i love it but unfortunately I don't have £375k

FullOfFresias · 13/04/2026 17:38

Love your kitchen/snug room. Dislike your lounge fireplace. Your garden looks like it needs a lot of work and has been neglected compared to the inside of your house.
As an aside - I love your green bedroom! Where is that wallpaper from please?

eta I would always prefer 2 bathrooms rather than an en-suite

Wingingit73 · 13/04/2026 17:39

What a gorgeous house. Its fine. Since you asked id do the following. Get the cages out of the pics ( you can put back after), put a single bed in the office to show its 4 bed. Few pots outside for kerb appeal. Its beautiful.

Bumcake · 13/04/2026 17:40

I think it’s really nice overall. It needs a declutter and the exteriors need some attention, nothing major imo. If I was looking in that area it’d go on my list.

The parking does need spelling out though.

What has been your problem, no viewings or no offers?

youalright · 13/04/2026 17:41

I know a few have said they don't like the fireplace but I really like it

Monty36 · 13/04/2026 17:41

It is on a corner which will put some people off.

The bedrooms do look as if there is nowhere to store clothes. It is very grey in some rooms. I dislike the wood panelling on the ceiling in the snug room.

I think the photos are a bit poor. No picture of the hall, stairs. Or the second bathroom. And as per the usual with estate agents, do the pictures reflect the actual size of the room ?

I think the four beds are upstairs, the office is down.

Fifthtimelucky · 13/04/2026 17:42

I think the inside is fine, and I really like the kitchen. The outside puts me off.

The front looks very bare and I would put out some pots there with something colourful in, though I suppose that might stop prevent parking on the gravel. The back just looks very unloved.

Vconcerned1 · 13/04/2026 17:42

I wonder if it is just a little expensive for the square footage, plus has a north facing garden. It's really a 3 bed house that's been extended to make it a 4 bed, but downstairs is really small, relative to other similarly priced properties. The snug also looks like a conservatory because of the ceiling.

I can see both bathrooms, one has a bath and one does not.

Why do people dislike corner houses out of interest? I find that quite appealing.

Monty36 · 13/04/2026 17:43

Are the neighbours an issue in anyway ? I have seen neighbours put off house buyers. Either odd, very messy, or aggressive to viewers (they want the property themselves at a low price).

Pearlstillsinging · 13/04/2026 17:44

dapsnotplimsolls · 13/04/2026 17:02

  1. Label the rooms
  2. Bedside tables for the main bedroom - it looks like there isn't space at the moment
  3. The second bedroom - the bed is far too big for the room
  4. Study or gym? Make it one or the other and de-clutter

Definitely this. I wasn't sure which room was which and the photos don't have captions. The only thing g I can comment on that can't be changed is that would always prefer the utility to open to outdoors, rather than having to go through the house. What about wet coats/boots/dogs?

Automagical · 13/04/2026 17:44

I'm not sure you can say it has two parking spaces. I mean technically you can park on the gravel, but it's not what i would call a space. I'm assuming the space in front of the garage is the neighbours?

@Housesale2its a lovely house but kitchen is small and bedrooms apart from master are small too.

would you be willing to go lower? Obviously not much you can do about sizes but I’d be worried about storage wardrobes etc

Burglary. Easier to get away.
There is no obvious alarm system apparent.
But that is why. People turning round for three point turns etc.

Automagical · 13/04/2026 17:47

I'm pretty sure the room sizes are as they are, as it's been extended over the original garage footprint. We saw quite a few houses like this when we were looking and they always end up with rooms that are just too small imo.

Feelingworried26 · 13/04/2026 17:47

Excellent layout, especially the 2 proper sized bathrooms instead of beastly little ensuites upstairs.
One or two bedrooms look a bit cluttered by the main rooms very spacious.
It looks short of build in cupboards upstairs.
Not everyone would like that fireplace or your decor in general.
I would quite like the garden as a blank canvas but some viewers might be put off by it.

user7666547 · 13/04/2026 17:47

Hello from Wiltshire. It looks lovely, but honestly I think the photos are awful. They look a bit like they were done with AI, and they are very blurry if you zoom in. I’d ask for them to be done again.

Yamyamabroad · 13/04/2026 17:48

The first photo doesn't show the whole house so it looks like a semi instead if a detached house. This might be making people overlook it. Ask the agent to take a photo showing the whole frontage
