It's not summer without it streaming all afternoon on the BBC 🥺

Lot of miserable folk on here. How could tv and radio coverage possibly bother you? There’s endless other things to watch. Fair enough if you live nearby and are genuinely inconvenienced by it. But the tv and radio coverage is fantastic for those of us who never get to go.

TwoLeggedGrooveMachine · 13/04/2026 14:27

I hate watching live music on TV because I feel the FOMO. Mind you I haven’t been to Glastonbury since 2004 which didn’t go well for a number of reasons. These days I prefer smaller more affordable festivals which are full of people out to genuinely enjoy themselves rather than to share on Instagram.

It's not the live coverage for me; it's the replacement of studio recorded songs with 4 minutes of people going "WOOOOO" over the faint vocals of CharliXCX or Dave Grohl. It goes on all summer starting with the Radio 1 Big Weekend in May.

The BBC don't publicise it much but they are major stakeholders in Glastonbury. Ever wondered why it's barely mentioned or covered by anyone else? Hence the tedious wall to wall coverage.

They have the broadcast rights til 2027 - there is a lot of speculation they will be outbid by Amazon or Netflix on renewal

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 13/04/2026 15:50

Oh I didn't know, why? I love watching Glastonbury!

ainsleysanob · 13/04/2026 15:59

Can’t stand how pretentious Glastonbury is these days! Left wing political flag waving extravaganza! However, I simply don’t watch it - except for Pulp last year who were fabulous! Sorry you’re gonna miss it though OP, why not collate your favourite acts over the last few years on YouTube and watch those!

Pelsall116 · 13/04/2026 18:49

I have no feelings either way but I hadn't realised it wasn't on this year

and?

Not every topic needs deep meaning and you don't need to answer if you think the thread isn't one for you.

weaselpatrol · 13/04/2026 19:07

I’ve been going to Glastonbury since the early 90s. Some of the most joyful and happiest moments of my life have been in those fields. Gutted it’s not on this year but I’ll be trying for tickets again in November.

Figgygal · 13/04/2026 19:09

Isle of wight always better lineups and coverage imo

I’m disabled and can’t enjoy festivals in person so I LOVE watching Glastonbury and other festivals on the BBC. I smoke a fuckton of bongs and watch nearly all the acts on iPlayer over about three weeks and love discovering new music. Last year I really enjoyed Fat Dog and Four Tet.

I love discovering new acts! Unfortunately I am too dull a person to smoke bongs - but once dd grows up, you'll see me doing one at Glastonbury itself! 🤭🤭🤭

I'd love to take my dd, but she is far too young at 7 - just seems like an experience everyone needs to have!

There’s always a fallow year every few years. They have to protect their land.

I just relistened to justin bieber at coachella! Love him (although suspect that makes me less cool in the eyes of you glastonbury goers) 😄

I think the years off make the years it goes ahead more special. Think we should do the same with Christmas. But having said that I do like it on the tv in June. Have never been in real life - maybe one day when the kids have moved out.

What a year off of christmas?! 😄 dunno how id cope, I love christmas

Will miss it this year. Last year was crazy! I was dancing in the living room the whole weekend. Love Glastonbury ❤️

bestcatlife · 25/04/2026 17:58

@badgersbadgerseverywhereFour Tet was my highlight!
