AIBU to change the bed sheets after DH farted in bed?

DH thinks it’s excessive. My argument is he literally fired gas out of his arse which would have then settled on the fabrics. If it had just been a small pump I wouldn’t have been that bothered but it was a big forced fart.

Be honest, is there anyone here that would have done the same? In my defence they were getting near due to be changed anyway, this just brought it forward a few days

What do you think your arsehole is doing whilst you are asleep?

alpenguin · 12/04/2026 03:10

Surely you’d have to buy a new mattress too then because the gas particles would have infiltrated it with every slight pimp

That's disgustingly slovenly; you'd have to buy a whole new house, surely?

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 12/04/2026 03:25

Just wondering, OP: your DH's name isn't Roland, is it?

YABU simply for using the word "pump" for farting.

My mother used that when I was a small child in the 70's ffs.

Even "trump" makes me cringe a bit.

To be fair, he makes most people cringe.

To be fair, he makes most people cringe.

His surname is also a rather twee euphemism for fart. Quite apt for him really.

Serious minds have pondered this ....

'Farting at petri dishes' 😂😂thank you for that image!

OP, don't sit on any chair ever again. They've all been farted on. Your sofa, your friend's sofa, your deskchair at work, bus seats etc etc.
Gas-fired seating everywhere. Nowhere is safe.

Edited

I've realised that I should be changing my car far more frequently.

pollyglot · 12/04/2026 04:48

OP, if it was one of those "gas followed by aerosol", then definitely.

Bonkers!

After what her DH has done, that’s something they won’t be tonight.

You fart every night in your sleep. A lot. You are being completely unreasonable and very rude. Unless he sharted, grow up.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/04/2026 22:01

I wouldn’t be changing them, but I do think forced farts (and you can always tell) in the presence of others is disgusting.

You obviously have never had lactose intolerance then the gas gets painful, and sometimes you gotta force it.

FarmGirl78 · 12/04/2026 05:58

This reminds of the nutter I used to work with who made her husband wash his arse every time he went to the toilet as she didn't want a bum that had "only" been wiped, in her bed.

YANBU. Someone I know died once after her “D”H farted in their bed.

😁

Must admit I’m suprised by the comments so far! I thought at least one person would agree with me 😂

Hehe

Erm - no

Probably watching TV.

OonaStubbs · 12/04/2026 06:20

Farting is disgusting and unacceptable in the marital bed. OP you should issue a blanket ban on your DH besmirching the bedlinen in this manner.

What do you think your arsehole is doing whilst you are asleep?

Judging by my OH some nights, The 1812 Overture.

😂

9 pages in and there's still plenty to keep me laughing.
Not too hard though or something may come out and this is an expensive sofa that I can't afford to replace today.

I know this might sound a bit odd, but I’ve always found passing wind incredibly unclassy. The only exception I’d ever make is for a baby. I realise it’s a bit eccentric, but it’s just how I am. Honestly, if someone did it, even at the top of Ben Nevis in the middle of a gale, I’d still feel like the whole place needed fumigating. I’d go further than a sheet change, I’d be all over the John Lewis online site searching new beds… hit him in his pocket! That’ll teach him

estrogone · 12/04/2026 07:01

WiddlinDiddlin · 11/04/2026 22:09

Maybe particles of shit in the fart? Farticles? Shiticles? Sharticles?

This is the first time I have seriously considered the particulate content of a fart... thanks OP.

Farticles 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yes, it sounds a bit odd, and rather childish. Do you find breathing, or blinking, incredibly unclassy? These are also natural and unavoidable aspects of human physiology, they just don’t happen to involve our bums.

Haha. Between me and my partner we'd be changing the sheets about 5 times a night.

Everyone farts

How dare you! 😡
I cannot imagine the Queen ever did. 😕

He’s not to pump in bed, he knows it freaks me out and yeah obviously he does do it but this one was particularly ferocious

He sounds gross.
