AIBU to change the bed sheets after DH farted in bed?

DH thinks it’s excessive. My argument is he literally fired gas out of his arse which would have then settled on the fabrics. If it had just been a small pump I wouldn’t have been that bothered but it was a big forced fart.

Be honest, is there anyone here that would have done the same? In my defence they were getting near due to be changed anyway, this just brought it forward a few days

Yet here you are … taking time out of your busy schedule to reply 😂 lighten up

It’s ten to midnight, and the adverts are on during the golf…not exactly the time I should be out and about - fwiw I was out at the time you posted though 🫣

Well you could always … not post - if the thread doesn’t interest you? Crazy idea I know! Get back to your golf

Agree with that poster. Doesn't take much time to reply with shock at another mumsnet attention seeker. No sane person does this let alone posts about it unless they're bored and this is a cheap form of entertainment.

That view makes it funny. But if this thread is serious then it's a medical emergency as you aren't of sane mind to be that honestly bothered or to describe how a person braced to fart.. I mean seriously 😂 hilarious but unstable.

But in all seriousness, a partner forcing a fart out while lying next to me in bed is absolutely gross and horribly familiar.

I once worked with a delightful woman who had a downstairs loo next to their kitchen. She said that when she or her DH needed a poo, they’d just leave the door open while they did it, so they could carry on chatting to their partner in the kitchen..,

Ewww no you’d hear the plop and everything 🤮

I can’t believe anyone could possibly ask this - it has got to be the most insane thing Ive ever read, even by Mumsnet standards.

He’s not to pump in bed, he knows it freaks me out and yeah obviously he does do it but this one was particularly ferocious

Oh my, a ferocious forced fart.
Fantastic!

Your over reacting

There's an ad part way up this thread imploring us all to "Post your questions to Rachel Reeves". Can't hurt to ask her to share her great wisdom on this controversial conundrum, surely?!

She will probably tax them.

Frostynoman · 12/04/2026 00:03

Now you’ve explained he was bare cheeks I kinda see why you changed it. I read somewhere that tiny particles of poo come out with farts but we can’t believe everything we read on the internet

TheAngryPuxie · 12/04/2026 00:03

Unless he follows through, I don't see the problem! It's gross and disrespectful, yes, but it's only a gas!

merrymelody · 12/04/2026 00:04

If it was a shart, definitely. If not, no.

Happyjoe · 12/04/2026 00:05

Justwonderingum · 11/04/2026 21:54

Are you going to wash them or burn them?

By the sounds of it, they should have a scorched mark half way down already!

allthingsinmoderation · 12/04/2026 00:06

Tbh, it would be safest to burn them and the mattress too...

Nofeckingway · 12/04/2026 00:07

Yes I would definitely change the sheets for a bare arsed man fart . Then I would hand him the removed sheets and tell him to go put them on the couch and sleep there. Lock my bedroom door and enjoy a peaceful hygienic nights sleep .

I think it's true.... with wet ones!

RockNToll · 12/04/2026 00:10

Tell him to have a shower too, it'll be over him 😮

CherryBlossom321 · 12/04/2026 00:12

“Small pump”, “ferocious fart” 😂

Daisychain88 · 12/04/2026 00:12

I have diagnosed ocd around contamination & I wouldn't do this either. If something came out with it like a shart for example & I saw it on th bed sheets then I would change it. The only other reason I'd change it is if the smell wouldn't go or it had stuck to th bedding which isnt really how a part works 🤔 so no I wouldn't change it. But if it made u feel better then good fr u! Nothing feels better than sleeping in a fresh bed tbh!

Daisychain88 · 12/04/2026 00:15

I've just read he had bare cheeks. That is very disgusting & I do not allow bare cheeks in my bed 😂 yes I would definitively change the bed sheets u did right! That is stinky tell him to stick some shorts on for heavens sake!

MyNiftySheep · 12/04/2026 00:16

Do a BFG and bottle up the fart molecules next time.

Monolithique · 12/04/2026 00:17

Are we talking a fart or a shart?

Not rtft

Nopersbro · 12/04/2026 00:19

If "forced' means intentional, then he was being unreasonable. He should have been thanking his lucky stars you were willing to change them, not trying to gaslight you. Make HIM change the sheets if he does it again.

Mumsnetter of the week!
😂

TempNameForObviousReasons · 12/04/2026 00:23

OP I think it's time to change your name to 'Brownblankie'

popcornandpotatoes · 12/04/2026 00:25

I've never seen the word pump for a fart before. Is it regional?
