Rude or reasonable?

If it's a piercing studio then totally reasonable.

Livpool · 09/04/2026 18:16

This is fine for a piercing studio - it is wood dangerous to have children hanging about

Valkirie · 09/04/2026 18:16

It’s both: the rule is reasonable but the tone is rude

hazelnutvanillalatte · 09/04/2026 18:17

Obviously rude and unreasonable. No need for 'they are not special' and all the rest of it!

Just say 'no children allowed.'

thistimelastweek · 09/04/2026 18:17

Full marks for straight talking.

Agree with this. Totally understandable for a piercing studio not allowing children inside.....but the sign is rude AF.

user2848502016 · 09/04/2026 18:19

Reasonable to have a no kids policy but the signs are rude - I wouldn’t be getting my kids ears pierced there as they’re obviously not child friendly

HoppityBun · 09/04/2026 18:20

It has the feel of exasperation and it’s not wrong. They’re not in the childcare business and they can express their wishes how they want. It gets the point across.

I can absolutely believe people ignored the first sign because they're a regular/they're just booking an appointment/they're asleep/they're quiet/they'll just sit there and eat a snack

MrsOni · 09/04/2026 18:21

Totally fine.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 09/04/2026 18:23

Reasonable rule. Rude sign. And if I was looking to have my child’s ears pierced, I wouldn’t go there because they don’t seem child friendly. Which is fine of course, they don’t have to be. But I think it’s an odd choice of tone when the sign suggests they do also do piercings on children.

Both signs are rude. All that's needed is 'no children allowed.' Just as a fairground ride can advertise a weight limit but not say 'Lay off the donuts! No fatties allowed!'

Exactly.

I think it's excellent, clear signage.

Don't like it, go elsewhere. But it suggests that you would be one of the "but my kid isn't a problem" people.

HungryHungryLandsharks · 09/04/2026 18:26

Clearly their first sign didn't work so they've resorted to extreme measures. 😂I think it's quite funny, but then I don't drag my kids everywhere with me.

The sort of people who would be offended are probably the sort of people who would expect the receptionist to sit there looking after their kids whilst they're off getting another piercing.

ExOptimist · 09/04/2026 18:26

I assume they've had problems with children not being under control.

I also assume that when challenged some very entitled parents have tried to claim that their own children should be exempt from that rule because they are different, can behave etc, when they're clearly blind to how bad their children's behaviour actually is.

Unfortunately these days there are a lot of awful parents who can't keep their children under control in public places, or more likely can't be bothered to, especially because looking at their phone seems to be more important than looking after children. Also because they believe that their children should have free rein to do whatever they like, irrespective of whether it inconveniences or irritates other people.

I don’t think it’s extreme and I don’t even think it’s rude. The more often I read it the more reasonable I think it is.

Aspp · 09/04/2026 18:28

They will probably have added the second sign out of exasperation due to people not following it, there are always a group of people who do think they are special and the signs or rules don’t apply to them.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 09/04/2026 18:29

that second sign tells me some shit happened in there 😄

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 09/04/2026 18:32

They’re probably fed up of customers bringing their brats in and expecting staff to babysit them whilst a tattoo or piercing is being done.

pimplebum · 09/04/2026 18:32

Piercing kids is sick , wait until they can walk in and pay for it themselves

sign is rude and a strange way to conduct business - i would not go there

Hatty65 · 09/04/2026 18:33

I think they have been forced to resort to this by unreasonable parents, frankly. They have clearly met some parents who think that their child IS special.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2026 18:33

A bit rude but it sounds to me like the ‘they are not special’ addition is born of exasperation with parents who think the exclusion for some reason doesn’t include their family.

I’ve seen a sign in a cafe which I like a lot - ‘Unattended children will be given a free espresso and a puppy’.Grin

DappledThings · 09/04/2026 18:33

Yes it's rude but that doesn't make it unreasonable. Clearly they've had plenty of chancers try to ignore the rule and claim their kids won't be disruptive and should be allowed in so they've had to add the second sign on top.

Anyone can put a deliberately rude sign on their own premises if they want to. It isn't unreasonable to do so.

PurpleThistle7 · 09/04/2026 18:33

i think it’s great. And I’m guessing they ‘still’ get people who don’t understand given the second sign.

itsmeits · 09/04/2026 18:35

Don't see an issue.
Some tattoos take a long time. Who will be responsible for the child.
Piercing/tattoos studios have lots of different ways a child could injure themselves.

I love the sign in the pub unattended children will be fed sugar and fizzy drinks - as labour laws won't allow us to send them down the pit anymore
