To absolutely hate the phrase "to fall pregnant"

I had never heard this phrase until I was well into adulthood and it sounds so wrong to me.

You fall ill, you fall from grace. To 'fall' has entirely negative connotations in my eyes. If ever anyone says they "fell pregnant" it always sounds like an unwanted accident to me but people say it of wanted and planned for pregnancies 🤷🏻

I dont get heavily pregnant you are either pregnant or not

I think I can help you there Polly.

As a baby grows inside a mummy's tummy it gains in weight.

They start off very small and weigh very little, but later they get much, much bigger and weigh a lot more. In other words, the baby gets "heavier" which gives rise to the expression "heavily pregnant".

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with, like the difference between "hot water" and "cold water" for instance.

YABU because it does not affect you whatsoever.

It is possible to have thoughts and opinions about things that dont directly affect you.

It's just a saying. Doesn't bother me.

YANBU to be annoyed by it though. You have that right.
