To think Labour is not the party of the working people.

I voted for Labour as I believed their election pledge of being a party for the working people but genuinely I can’t think of one thing, since they’ve been in power, that they’ve done to help me (a single working mother on around £42k a year)! I get zero help from UC, these mystical breakfast clubs don’t exist, people aren’t employing people due to their ridiculous NI implications, they aren’t building affordable housing, energy prices are insanely high and all they talk about is grants (which won’t affect me as I live in a flat)! Genuinely I can’t think of one thing that they’ve done to help working people in the middle. Why are Labour sticking their heads in the sand? Why do they refuse to help the squeezed working class? They are stopping this economy from thriving - as
nobody can afford to spend anything extra (treats, holidays, meals out etc etc)!

And Reeves was beating private school kids at chess
Phillipson added tax to fees, meanwhile her daughter was using private school hockey pitches.

They are all in it for themselves.

Maybe it’s the human condition .

Using private school hockey pitches? not sure she has any choice where local clubs can book pitches surely. My boys have played football on private school pitches as that is where the other team played. No choice there

I thought you were going to hold your nose and vote conservative? Aka a vote for Kemi.

Only that was the only way to defeat Reform in my constituency. Hopefully there are still enough Tory voters here to make it unnecessary. Incidentally my bloke is a lifelong Tory voter and he’s currently also going to have to hold his nose, he detests what his party has become.

Who is the prospective Reform voter you’re referring to? Why are you certain how the pp is voting.

That’s certainly the way the evidence from the councils they now run points.

I have a fair idea of how Nuthatch might vote in a certain scenario (i.e that she'd vote Reform to keep Labour out) in the same way that Nuthatch has a fair idea of how @BIossomtoes might vote in a certain scenario (see Nuthatch's post of 12:01) Because both have posted about it on MN in the past!

So do I as I share a thread with her and I think your assumptions are off. Plus what she said made sense. Reform can benefit from being in opposition in Wales.

I'm a conservative party member, and helping out with my local party. I'll be canvassing this weekend.
Not interested in Reform, despite your desperate attempts to label me and others as 'Reformites'.

I haven't mentioned your party membership or voting intentions for Wales and Westminster. Are you still a Plaid C member who intends to vote to keep Labour in power in Westminster, whilst also voting to remove Labour from power in Wales?

Starmer's Labour is absolutely the party for the benefit class, not the working class. They are all about keeping people contained in their little box. Make it harder to employee people, punish success etc etc. The contrast with the aspiration of the Blair version of Labour is shocking.

I thought Starmer would just be new labour. Pro market and all that. Pro business as well.

Your 12.05 post doesn’t need the first line. It just creates bad feeling and isn’t correct.

It isn't a personal attack. If you think it is, report to mnhq and let them decide.

@Pineneedlesincarpeti think the uncomfortable truth is maybe a lot of people on benefits align with Farsge’s way of thinking!

I find most people on benefits don’t even bother to vote as no matter who gets in they still get their money.

dinbin · 25/03/2026 12:48

People on 80k or 90k claiming childcare... why? if you cannot afford kids on that salary, don't fucking have them

Do you mean the free hours? Why shouldn’t someone on 80k have discounted childcare? child benefit used to be universal & lots of other countries have subsidised childcare. Who do you think should have dc?

They can’t magic out growth for the country that voted for Brexit

they are doing really well with large businesses by the way who wanted stability over Tory shitshow

Brexit must have been really powerful as most of Europe is in the same boat.

I think waiting lists are falling because more people are going private. My GP advised me to go to a private dermatologist because the NHS waiting list was too long to avoid scarring. My daughter's consultant told us to get private physio because she would benefit from having it sooner. My mother just got her hip replacement and cataracts done privately because she wants to be independent and mobile for as long as possible as otherwise other health issues will kick in sooner. I don't have a problem with more people paying for healthcare, but it is hardly good labour stuff. They'll probably slap VAT on it soon to punish people for paying for their own healthcare.

They are also paying for people to use the private sector, how much is this costing us.

What’s with the comprehension? It was a question.

Yes or no would do it.

You still don’t get it. I don’t really know how to make it more digestible….

It’s not about what I want, there needs to be a honest discussion with the electorate.

Do they want public services as they are? Better ones?
Do they want to pay more tax etc?
Do they want to reduce benefits?

I personally don’t want to pay any more tax. I want to see improved services & I have already mentioned areas where I would cut.

What do you think should happen?
