I think YouTube clips embed here, so please watch this, and then tell us what you think:

I see what you mean! That lady was gorgeous but SOOOO CREEPY!

Sarita Gislason was only 21 when she did that advert, but was made up to look younger! She was also the same model in various other adverts for the same brand, with wigs, different makeup, and so on, often made up to look like a child!

This is awful.
is it real or AI cause it sounds like the tangerine 🍊 twot that ruins America.

It's very real unfortunately.

Someone I follow on socials was talking about the way ads for baby products were marketed in fairly recent years, and honestly the wording and imagery has been very questionable, especially with what we know now about a certain island riddled with paedo oligarchs etc. The coding for this stuff has always been there, but now it's hypervisible.

What is the target user group - babies or adults? I couldn't work it out. Confused

I think it's body spray etc for adults that smells like Baby Powder. I was an adult in 1975 but didn't have a TV so didn't see the ad fortunately. I think it would have been considered creepy then.

Yeah lots of suggestible adverts round then.

catipuss · 23/03/2026 13:07

We would have just laughed, so outdated even then, but I don't remember seeing it either.

The product is for adults. I can't remember that advert either and agree with pp that it probably wasn't aired in the UK.

Yuk, both now and then. Things have changed in 50 years in the advertising world thank goodness.

SerendipityJane · 23/03/2026 14:33

Maybe this explains why "alternative" comedy emerged in the 80s ?

Ben Elton had a while routine about how misogynistic advertising was. As you'd expect it was 1000 wpm. My thumbnail memory was him rattling on from the point of view of a girlfriend on the phone ...

".... hand on, I've just got to go down on a Flake ..."

(In what may explain a lot of the Serendipity household mindset, my DMs take on the Flake advert was that it was set in a field of poppies which is where you get opium from.)

This shampoo ad from 1975 - don’t think they’d make it now.

That's quite sick, but it hasn't stopped me from wanting the body mist
