Old and grumpy re. Easter eggs

I am currently being repulsed 🤣 by all the adverts on Instagram for Easter eggs that are filled half an inch or more thick with goo and stuff. What is this about? Surely the best thing about Easter eggs has always been that thin chocolate (although I’m fully on board with nice treats inside the thin chocolate egg, I’m not a mad woman).

Has anyone tried these - was it good or bad?

I've bought DD one of the M&S eggs that has a load of pistacho creme inside the shell. It was £18 which seems excessive but my kids are adults and only get one egg each so I'm happy to spend up to £20 on an egg (DS has a Lindt one that was £16).

Some of the stuff I have seen on social media is crazy. The shops are doing great I'm sure due to the influencers reviewing all the expensive eggs (and probably lying about how good they taste). So many people buying eggs from Harrods etc due to these people. I saw an egg from Louis Vuitton today that was over £200 - since when do fashion brands sell food?

I was in Hotel Chocolat this week and saw a woman buy the big Ostrich Patisserie egg, which was £90! I couldn’t believe it.

The shop assistant told me that they sell out of those eggs every year!

I bought the smallest of the cadbury ones for myself —to gorge on— for £1.40 in Asda and they had the chocolates inside like the olden days. For one second it was nice to pretend, even though they weren’t in the little brown see-through bags. I always liked the picture of the chick on either half of the egg, too!

Top work, @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius !

I have gone full curmudgeon and am not buying big eggs in boxes, They are a triumph of packaging over content - all that packaging for a box of not enough chocolate and a load of fresh air! Environmental Nul Points!

Lindt bunnies are allowed though.
