Toucan22 · 20/03/2026 18:36

Just that really. Im tired all the time. Work 35 hours a week at a mentally and emotionally demanding job. Its half 6 and I'm in bed. Im sick of feeling like this.

OP posts:
66babe · 20/03/2026 18:38

Are you anemic ? Do you eat well ? How old are you ?
35 hrs is pretty standard for a working week
I don’t think it’s normal to be that tired , wonder if you deficient in some nutrient , are you depressed ? Demotivated ?
Please look after yourself 💐

LadyTable · 20/03/2026 18:40

Gosh that is early to bed.

I'm going to assume you've had blood tests and they've all come back clear?

Could you perhaps tweak your diet?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/03/2026 22:35

Do you think you are suffering burnout? Depression? Any medical issues? Have you checked? Are you getting sufficient sleep normally? Have you checked your iron level?

deedeemegadoodoo · 20/03/2026 22:36

How old are you?

Auroraloves · 20/03/2026 22:38

Hello, I went to the GP last week about this exact thing. I’ve had bloods and it’s. One back I’m slightly deficient in iron and B12. But I think the biggest factor is my lifestyle and stress/anxiety. I need to find ways to help this. I’ve tried doing meditation and all that but can’t get my brain to shut up.

do you have children?

Amammai · 20/03/2026 22:41

How old are you and do you have children/caring responsibilities on top of your job?

Things to review:

diet
exercise/activity levels
hormones/menstruation patterns/menopause
alcohol/drug/medication usage
stress levels

Being what the NHS calls 'slightly' deficient in iron and Vitamin B (and Vit D) is enough to make you feel shattered all the time.

OP, try taking iron, vitamin D and B-complex supplements. Drink lots of water and cut out or cut back on processed sugar. If this is the issue, you should feel significantly better within a week.

Yes, although not low enough to need a prescription they’ve advised I get supplements for both of these

I agree with this (the nhs saying things are fine when you're actually quite low and it can make you feel shit). I find drinking enough water makes a really big difference in my energy levels. I'm terrible for not drinking enough.

Winterymix · 20/03/2026 22:50

Was your thyroid also definitely ok? Again, I believe some people can be impacted by what doctors might consider an acceptable test results.

Have you/anyone here found an iron and b12 supplement that is gentle on the stomach? My ferritin, iron and b12 are low and I've spent over £100 on supplements and they all make me horribly sick.

Richtea67 · 20/03/2026 22:52

Please get a blood test to as may be a treatable cause. I was the same and kept putting off going to the GP. Went this week and I'm severely anaemic and starting treatment.

I was very anemic and out on very high dosage of iron tablets. 300mg a day. 🤢. It played havoc with my stomach but I worked out if I took it last thing at night I could cope. Used to wake up pretty early needing the loo but id sleep through the nausea and bloating. My body did get more tolerant.

I've now had the mirena coil fitted because with my peri flooding periods, even that level of iron was only just keeping the anemia away!

I was just looking at the nutrition geeks ones. They do a combined iron and b12

I use Nutrition Geeks too. They do a D3+K2 as well which I'd recommend over simple Vitamin D.

Go low carb. Changed my life.

I find the herbal iron supplements much gentler - Floradix liquid or capsules.
Or Feroglobin - not the tablets but the little grains in clear capsules. Also gentler on stomach.

Best taken with some vitamin C like fresh OJ.

Have you tried the iron B12 one? Just about to order, free delivery too!!

I haven't. I've got their magnesium, but I have B12 drops from somewhere else. I get them all on Amazon (slight shameface) so I don't pay delivery.

Ive just started their magnesium, how are you finding it?

Very good. If I really have to sleep I even take 3!

CarbGoading · 20/03/2026 23:25

I was very anemic, gor ny levels up with ferrous ferritin and have now moved to spatone first thing - its a lower dose but comes pre-combined with vit c and is easy to drink and gentle on the tummy.

I've also started nutrition geeks magnesium.

I feel you OP. I could nap every day, so tired in the evenings but then struggle to get off to sleep so the vicious cycle begins again. Trying everything to get my energy up!

Edit: ferrous fumerate not ferritin 🤦‍♂️

Wild Nutrition Iron Plus, look them up. I have the same issue with iron supplements.

OneChaosAtATime · 21/03/2026 07:25

So exhausted in a part time job even if it is emotionally and mentally draining, I'd think there is an underlying cause. In my case I was very low Vit D. Go to the GP and ask for bloods to be done (just in case it's something other than vitamin deficiency).

I take a whole host of supplements now, and am much better.
