Poor pets, just disposable to these Dubai residents

NototerrorismIntheUK · 12/03/2026 16:38

Reflection of Dubai ' non national residents'. I judge you.

Fleeing and dumping cats and dogs. So basically pets left to die. Another character flaw to add to the vain, awful types that live there. Fake Dubai, modern day slavery loving, artificial, grim, and no conscience so animals are also disposable. 😢

Hmmm, my cat or some random humans? I'd save him without a second thought. TBH I'd save him over a lot of humans that I know.

So you’d chose your cat over a human child? Seriously?

The UK government would not arrest and imprison you for taking a video of air strikes on your phone - go check out the news.

The UK government would arrest you for saying hurty words online and are now abolishing trial by jury for such offences which means you’d be twice as likely to be convicted.

Not to mention bringing in the official definition of Islamophobia which will curtail our free speech and prevent us from calling out the rape gangs and anti women behaviour.

@NototerrorismIntheUK im English but my mum was from Northern Ireland. My daddy was a soldier. We were home visiting my granny and me and her were up the street. The army evacuated us sharpish coz there was a bomb. We heard it bang as we ran away.

my granny had the hold of me so tight and she shifted like I’ve never seen before or since. And she literally flung herself around me when the bomb went off. I was about 7 so this would have been about 1975. I still remember the feeling of the bomb - not the noise but the feel.

I can assure you my granny would have killed the pope himself to get me to safety.

the dog wouldnt have even entered her head.

I can’t judge anyone who doesn’t take a pet in a life or death flee situation.

Edited

I was going to mention NI as that’s where I’m from. But you have explained it very well. I was caught up in quite a few bomb scares. Nobody knows how they would feel until it happens. It’s surreal and the instinct to get yourself and your family to safely is overwhelming. I can’t imagine too many people would be prioritising pets. Just because the attacks in Dubai are targeted doesn’t mean people aren’t utterly petrified. I remember hearing bombs go off miles away and the blood would feel like it was draining out of my body.

A lot of pets were slaughtered in the UK at the outbreak of WW2 in 1939. Known as the "British Pet Massacre".

SouthernNights59 · 12/03/2026 23:00

I would never leave my pets, not for anything. However OP you must be aware that people move on and abandon their pets in probably every country of the world - including the sainted UK. This is just another excuse for a Dubai bashing thread, and as no-one is forcing you to live there maybe just mind your own business?

There was a thread on here before where a few posters were saying they would save their cats over a baby or child in a house fire. They lack any kind of critical thinking skills.

Ah so you didn't know a thing about relocating pets from Dubai - you just decided to have a go at people with having no knowledge about it 🙄

MyOpalCat · 13/03/2026 00:02

I did hear an interview with an older american woman on radio 4 who went though their bad recent forest fires - and she held up resucers for her cat - they got her to leave but it was a close thing they nearly all got caught by fire with no escape.

Everyone was lying to her agreeing cat would be fine - she said later she knew really it was gone. In interview she was I don't know what they hell I was thinking - or how they had so much patience with me I nearly got us all killed it was that close.

So there are people out there who would priotise their and others safety for a pet .

I'd do my best for them but family would in end come first. I've no idea what it's like being out there at the minute so more relucant to judge.

Everyone coming back from Dubai should be charged all of the tax they evaded to be let back in. Otherwise fuck them, let them fucking deal with their choices.
Cunts.

😆😆😆😆😆
I needed that laugh!

PurpleAxe · 13/03/2026 04:52

It is a fucking war.

I love my cat, I do. But not even a skerrick of how much I love my children/my own life. I would leave her if I had to.

Hell, would eat her if I had to. We have an understanding, she would do the same.

We live in a bushfire area. In our plan, if she is present/easy to catch then into the car she goes. If not, a door is left open for her so she can get out of the house. Pets are not people.

RandomUsernameHere · 13/03/2026 05:09

It happens literally all the time in the UK.

Pastr · 13/03/2026 05:19

Samdnd · 12/03/2026 18:02

This post has made me laugh hysterically.

I have family in Dubai. Been there for decades on the golden visa. Are Indian nationals. The pet they have in Dubai was actually mistreated and left as abandoned in the UK.

Why all this Dubai bashing constantly?

In the World Happiness Report 2025, the UAE ranked 21st and the UK ranked 23rd. I still am mesmerised by how beautiful the Dubai marina is.

Laugh hysterically? What an odd reaction. Ae you always this easily amused?

the pandemic has increased the number of socially inept people who cannot cope with human company. They are proud of the fact they prefer dogs to humans. And love saying how they would save Fido over a human. I feel sorry faith them as they are clearly quite isolated people.

I'd trample over my BIL to get to my cat! I'd trample over him to get to someone else's cat!

My priority would be me, DH and my cat. If I could help any randoms without compromising us then I would, but I wouldn't put us at further risk.

Quine0nline · 13/03/2026 08:28

What is life like for pet dogs in Iran?

Witchesbe · 13/03/2026 08:36

I am veru unclear about that "tax avoidance". No one avoided pyaing taxes on UK income isn't that right? They work abroad, get paid abroad, get taxed per local rules. What taxes do they owe UK?

Does that make every expat and immigrant everywhere "tax avoider" in their native country?

JKFan · 13/03/2026 08:37

AgnesX · 12/03/2026 16:45

There was loads of footage of Ukrainians taking their pets so I don't think that's fair. A lot of people are very invested in their animals.

I'm surprised that there are that many animals being abandoned as I didn't think that people from the Arab nations really kept pets but that's just an assumption.

Edit: just clocked that the article was about Brits.

Edited

I had a Ukrainian woman living with me me who came here with her sister and niece. Sister’s cat travelled with her by train car and ferry from what is now Russian occupied land to the UK, with a side trip to Switzerland while he stayed with someone as they sorted out travel arrangements for him. He is much loved, and a big fluffy pile of grey containing a loud purr.

Exactly. Is someone a tax avoider if they go to HK or SG and earn more and pay less (but not 0% income tax)

Yes, it’s because posters such as @Dawnintheageofaquariams are poorly educated in the tax structures of the UK, which are build around residency not citizenship. Expats are not utilizing tax-supported services in the UK, therefore they do not pay for them. If you don’t like those rules, take it up with the government and lobby for a US-like citizenship model.

It’s just another way to rant about expats in the UAE. This conflict really seems to have brought out the worst among UK commentators, who manage to be both loud and wrong a majority of the time (the OP here being a case in point).

People abandoning their pets is not a new issue in Dubai unfortunately - I lived there 15 years ago and did some work with a cat charity helping to neuter and manage stray cat populations. We would frequently get dumped pets added to a colony and would have to take them to a rescue centre (if there was space……) as they’d never survive with the feral cats.

It's certainly not exclusive to Dubai. I'm in a UK horse/pony rescue group and people abandon horses at the roadside a lot. They are often sick and owners don't want to be liable. Just yesterday a mother and foal were discovered drowning in a mud bath of a field, they'd been stuck for several days and the mother was already dead but the foal had to be PTS as he couldn't be saved.
I've also volunteered with local animal rescue shelters and we got a lot of phone calls saying they would drown their cat/dog if we didn't take them. Animal abuse in the UK is rife, but I'll give those in war zones a bit of slack.

Some people are just positively gloating abou UAE being hit. Sorry, Dubai. No one gives a crap about the rest it seems 🙈
There was a short thread making fun of scammers hitting UAE with updated scam.
