Why are boys clothes so rubbish ?!?

My little boy has just outgrown 18-24 month clothes and omg I knew there was a lot less
choice for boys compared to girls but I’m disappointed by the selection.

Choices seem to be tracksuits, clothes covered in characters / graphics or baggy checked trousers and everything in grungy colours. I’m not ready to stop with the ‘cute’ cloth s for my baby, he’s only 2!! And it’s one tiny rails of clothes for boys compared to a massive section of girls things !!

Most boy mums I know feel the same. I can’t understand why shops continue to make the boys option an after thought ?!?

Also if anyone can recommend places that actually do nice things for boys then please let me know !! Up till now I’ve been dressing my boy mainly in the supermarket clothes but really not keen on their boys offering.

Forgot one - Hatley! Canadian brand but they ship to the UK. John Lewis also has a limited selection, usually of their waterproof layers.

I’ve got lovely jumpers from John Lewis, a fluorescent yellow one and a red cable one with small zip at neck.

Tu has some nice bits sometimes. EBay is excellent for clothes. Or vinted.

Nutmeg on vinted... surprisingly cute. My baby boy is long and outgrew baby stuff lengthwise and then it was a big leap style wise from the cute baby stuff to the toddler stuff

When he’s a bit older, look at Jacadi Paris. Available in Uk. Agree - go with classic clothing that costs a bit more. JL usually have a decent selection.

I have a 4 year old DS and 1 year old DD. So far, my experience is that under 2, I often prefer the boys clothes to the girls, especially in supermarkets. The girls are overly frilly and in a horrible shade of pink while the boys are cute and comfy in lovely pastel greens, blues and yellows.

Then after 2 things drop rapidly off a cliff for boys and by 4 you’re stuck with Spider-Man T-shirts and black stuff with grafitti patterns 🙄

Unfortunately, my son would actually prefer to wear Spider-Man T-shirts, so maybe that’s why. But it does mean dressing him is no longer fun for me, but he’s great in other ways!

As others have said, Next online has the most choice, and there are some good bits of both hidden in there.

Frugi and Boden. I'm finding clothes really disappointing for both my kids at the minute. My 3 year old boy doesn't know what sodding Minecraft is and my 7 year old girl doesn't need to be dressed like a tiny influencer.

I have one of each who are the same height and I find nice boys clothes much easier to find. There’s a lot of tat in the girls section. Generally I buy whatever would work for both kids from both sections and if I love something I buy it in several sizes.

Bobo Chooses (in sale) is good stuff.

We’ve always found colourful clothes. My son is 8 and likes bright stuff. He also likes football and will often choose the brightly coloured away/ third or goalie shirt for his team. He’s currently in a bright pink Man City goalie kit.

Kite clothing is lovely for boys - it’s a bit expensive but they very often have sales.

DS is in age 6-7

His wardrobe has always been a mix of

Nutmeg by Morrisons - best Supermarket clothes by far
Kite Clothing - wait for a sale
Toby Tiger - wait for a sale
Boden - wait for a sale
Frugi - wait for a sale
H&M bits
Next bits

When under 4 I had a fair amount from JoJo maman (July sales!) and Blade and Rose

M&S have been disappointing in both design and quality
