Here's what Nigel Farage is up to this weekend.

Nigel Farage is flying more than 3,000 miles to speak at a pro-Trump U.S. think tank.

For around 12 hours’ work this Saturday the Reform UK leader is expected to collect £27,856.88 from the Club for Growth, a Washington-based anti-tax lobby group that has pledged to work closely with Donald Trump ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterms.

This group helped raise £120m for Republican candidates in the 2024 election.

So while people in Clacton deal with rising costs, poverty and cuts Farage is being paid the equivalent of many people’s yearly salary to give a single speech in America.

Do you or don't you believe MPs should be able to hold paid positions whilst also serving as an MP?

If you don't you will have to take it up with the 30% of all MPs who do

https://gameofjobs.org/what-percentage-of-labor-mps-work-two-jobs.html

I happen to believe they should NOT and whatsmore they should get a pension for five years after they leave and not be allowed to take a job in industry, especially an industry they buttered up whilst in office.

However - don't just pick on Nigel, best to pick on all of them.

What kind of website is this using the word "Labor"

RobinInTheCrabApple · 06/03/2026 15:08

No he hasn't. Not one.
He's back and forth to the US with startling regularity though. I've tried to find out how many times but he was up to 9 by the anniversary of the GE last summer. Often his trips are funded by crypto billionaires, fraudster George Cottrell, fuel company owners etc etc.

The air miles he's clocked up at the expense of people who want a hold over him must be phenomenal.

He failed to declare some of the funding and, when confronted about it said he was a politician not an accountant.

Is he a politician even? Or just a shill for Trump?

Yes.
It is who is paying for the trips and what do they want from Farage that is interesting.

@RobinInTheCrabApple , are MPs expected to be working 7 days a week?

Yes. Ours was out all night when the Huntingdon train incident took place. He’s a prime example of exactly what a hardworking, responsible MP should be. It actually pains me to say this because I deplore his party but he’s everything you could ask for on a constituency basis - and the complete opposite of Farage.

It's here:

He does a lot of speaking. This trip is :

Name of payer

Address of payer
2001 L St NW, Suite 600 Washington DC 20036
Date registered
19 February 2026

  • Payment
  • £27,856.88
  • Hours
  • 12 hours - This is an estimate

Flights etc no idea. What they want, no idea. But payments need to be logged.

Edit add - If he don't have a US work visa, call ICE :-)

Georgiepud · 06/03/2026 15:59

He really fancies himself tripping across the Atlantic, doesn't he!

Wolmando · 06/03/2026 16:07

Wish I could get that much from 12 hours work.

Wolmando · 06/03/2026 16:15

I think Sunak earns quite a bit but donates it all to homeless charities

And still there seems to be plenty of people who are prepared to vote for his party. Ironically, many of those are the people who are going to suffer worst at his hands. They just can't see beyond all the rhetoric about immigrants being responsible for all the country's problems.

Yes, my gay & disabled / unable to work SIL being one of them.

Turkeys voting for Christmas:…

They get what they vote for.
There's nothing new about his shenanigans 🤷🏾‍♀️.

Just like in Reform run Northampton, where they have announced that free parking for disabled Blue Badge holders in local authority car parks is to be scrapped. The have stated that people should pay for the services they are getting.

@blossomtoes , I’m pretty sure MPs are not expected to work 7 days a week. I’m glad you have a great MP, I’d like to think most would react as yours did under those circumstances but expecting them to never have a day off is deeply unreasonable.

😱! Even my bankrupt council that charges upwards of £4ph, gives free disabled parking. Wow!

Expecting to work whenever required is not quite the same as never having a day off. As a bare minimum they should be in the Commons when it’s sitting and hold constituency surgeries. Farage has more days off than he works by quite a margin.

DuncinToffee · 06/03/2026 18:16

Farage missed all 10 meetings about Clacton regeneration

https://www.clactonandfrintongazette.co.uk/news/25879821.nigel-farage-defends-schedule-missing-meetings/

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 06/03/2026 18:19

He’s a disgusting grifter and should never have got anywhere near Parliament .

MPs ought to be required to attend a certain amount of days in Parliament, and hold a certain number of surgeries in their constituency every week/ month (whatever measurement works - those who know what the job should be better could surely set this easily).

It shouldn’t be a “do however much and whatever you feel like” job, not when people’s taxes pay for it.

MandingoAteMyBaby · 06/03/2026 18:19

Farage is not the common man, has nothing in common with his constituents, and exists to further increase the wealth of billionaires at the expense of the working class.

Only an insanely gullible person would vote for his “Reform” vehicle.

NF is going to Mar a Lago to speak with DT about the UK not gifting away the Chargos Islands then paying millions to rent them back. It wouldn't have been necessary if our hopeless PM wasn't hell bent on gifting them away. He's also going to attempt damage limitations about relationships with US and UK.

Notonthestairs · 06/03/2026 18:23

Is he hell. He's gone to exploit divisions. Not patch them up.

Who is paying for his trip?

What difference do you think it will make? He’s not in a position to influence anything - and hopefully never will be.

This was a process started by the Tories years ago, all fully in motion from then. Many of his MPs / “shadow” 🤣 cabinet are ex-Tories.

Anywhere but Clacton. Grift, grift, grift. Bet he couldn't find Clacton on a large scale map of Essex.

He appears to be in Clacton fairly regularly:

He doesn't hold surgeries for his constituents. The ones he's paid to represent.

Notonthestairs · 06/03/2026 18:36

Writing a column in the local paper can be done from anywhere, by anyone.

MikeRafone · 06/03/2026 18:37

It’s ridiculous Nigel Farage wanted out of eu to take back control and now he wants to hand that control over to America 🤷‍♀️ all the “sponsors” want something and they all seem to be coming from other nationals

Holding a surgery can be done from anywhere. My local MP does it all by phone and email
