Here's what Nigel Farage is up to this weekend.

Nigel Farage is flying more than 3,000 miles to speak at a pro-Trump U.S. think tank.

For around 12 hours’ work this Saturday the Reform UK leader is expected to collect £27,856.88 from the Club for Growth, a Washington-based anti-tax lobby group that has pledged to work closely with Donald Trump ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterms.

This group helped raise ÂŁ120m for Republican candidates in the 2024 election.

So while people in Clacton deal with rising costs, poverty and cuts Farage is being paid the equivalent of many people’s yearly salary to give a single speech in America.

There was no universally agreed version of Brexit - it was left deliberately blank in order for people to draft their own ideal version.

You can’t implement what doesn’t exist. Of course Parliament should debate the significant trade offs involved in creating new trade barriers. Sovereignty.

You didn't answer my first question - you obviously haven't read the paper.

There was no universally agreed version of Brexit

Vote Leave (Gove and Johnson) and Nigel Farage all announced publicly they wanted to leave the single market before the referendum (Vote Leave gave a press conference in April 2016, Farage in a debate Feb 2016, plus BBC interview Nov 2015). David Cameron confirmed in a BBC interview May 2016 that he would pull the UK out of the single market in the event of a leave vote; plus confirmed to MPs before the vote;

Hansard - House of Commons Wednesday 15 June 2016
[David Cameron] The Prime Minister
I am very happy to agree with my hon. Friend. “In” means we remain in a reformed EU; “out” means we come out. As the leave campaigners and others have said, “out” means out of the EU, out of the European single market, out of the Council of Ministers - out of all those things -

I don't think the Reform candidate is doing badly in the polls at all - rather the Greens, Lib Dems and Conservatives have all collapsed, not to mention Restore are in the mix. I wonder if Keir Starmer will go to the backbenches after he is toppled.

You should watch Question Time and look at the utter revulsion on the faces of the women in the audience when he attempted to excuse his misogyny. I’ll be interested to see next week’s polls as he’s been avoiding media scrutiny until now.

I couldn't help noticing that the poor Lib Dem candidate didn't get any applause after his answer in which he mentioned his husband!

BIossomtoes · 06/06/2026 19:53

The poor LibDem candidate was a waste of space, nothing he said merited any applause.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2026 19:54

Did the Lib Dem candidate make the same comments about women as Kenyon?

I thought the Green candidate was a bit silly when she giggled over being on maternity leave.

And I thought Andy Burnham didn't appear very prime ministerial - very trade unionist instead.

I can't remember - but I know that the Greens want some sort of 'Jew Register' apparently - how sinister is that;

Anywhere but Clacton. Grift, grift, grift. Bet he couldn't find Clacton on a large scale map of Essex.

Our local Labour MPs were all at a debate on issues affecting coastal communities in the HoC last week.

Guess who wasn't....the honourable member for Clacton on Sea 🙄

(In fact, there was practically nobody on the opposition benches and a fair sprinkling on the government side).

He said women shouldn't celebrate a victory - apparently they need to keep quiet.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2026 20:08

You can't remember?

There is only one candidate making sexist, misogynistic comments about women, the Reform candidate and he is backed by Farage an co, l'ocker room banter' they call it.

And there is a lot more he said in his now deleted SM posts.

Well apart from Andy Burnham who said women shouldn't celebrate a court victory.

I read the NBER paper (w34459) in November. I'm not clear why you'd think it was difficult to access. By all means provide a page number reference to where the report states that the negotiations were 'needlessly' drawn out.

He certainly missed the official photos for 2009 - 2014, however the correct number of people appear to be there (25), perhaps someone dropped out;

Committees 7th parliamentary term (2009 - 2014) PECH
https://www.europarl.europa.eu/committees/en/archives/7/pech/members

Also, I note that Farage previously stated that UKIP always sent a substitute to the meetings (PECH) at least.

That’s 15 years of doing nothing and taking the money.

To be fair, Farage was voted in to be a disruptor, to force the UK's exit from the European Union and the Common Fisheries Policy - something he achieved.

You’re getting a bit desperate now Clav.

Farage was a full member of the Fisheries Committee when there were votes to reform the CFP. He didn’t turn up.

Claiming that he was voted in to be a disruptor doesn’t change the fact he failed to do the job he was being paid to do (ie even just turn up).

He’s doing the same thing now.

Can you link to the paper so we can all read it.

I don't think I said that in relation to the NBER paper in any case - I was quoting Jessop.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2026 20:36

You can download the pdf version of the NBER paper very easily.

Is Kenyon the man that talked about Carol Vorderman's genitals and claimed women falsely claimed rape to used abortion to terminate pregnancies?

Twisterlollies · 06/06/2026 20:37

VickyEadieofThigh · 06/03/2026 12:13

He earns more from non-MP work than any other MP. He refuses to hold surgeries for his constituents.

This.

He’s a sinister grifter and couldn’t care less about the country or its people, and I say that as somebody who is probably more to the right than the left, and also wants less immigration/welfare.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2026 20:37

Oh come on Clav, you can't compare that Burnham comment with what Kenyon has said about women and Carol Vorderman.

These reforms? This blog makes it sound like a resounding success for the UK team;

He said nothing of the sort. He said there’s nothing to celebrate by anyone until the votes are cast. You’re just making it up as you go along now.
