What was supposed to be wrong with her daughter?
What was in the hole in the ceiling?
How did Linda ever qualify as a psychotherapist (rather than just a psycho)?
Where was her husband throughout 95% of the film?

I'm afraid I can't answer your questions OP but I'm baffled by the way people are speaking to you. You weren't vague at all. The name of the film is in the bloody title. If you haven't heard of the film, it's not the OP's job to educate you when she's only here asking questions about the plot.

Cookingupmyfirstbornson · 23/02/2026 20:00

Why not just Google for the answers?

Sometimes people like to have a conversation with actual people to get their take on things

Coconutter24 · 23/02/2026 20:12

DeanStockwell · 23/02/2026 19:52

I can bloody read , however I can't read minds , it could be a book , TV series, cartoon , play or part of a conversation

You don’t really need to read minds, if you have no idea what OP is talking about then your clearly are not going to be able to answer her questions

TheReturnofPersephone · 23/02/2026 20:18

This thread is almost as dark as the film!

I was persuaded to watch it by my OH. We really struggle to find things to watch that both of us like. Our viewing tastes are so different. Can anyone relate? And if so, how do you deal with it?

auserna · 23/02/2026 21:15

Cookingupmyfirstbornson · 23/02/2026 20:00

Why not just Google for the answers?

I had a quick look on my way home from the cinema, but obviously my googling was substandard as I didn't even come across the Wiki page for the film (which I have now found).

Thank you! I thought my title made it pretty obvious I was asking about a film, or possibly a book or TV series. What else was it likely to mean?

Maybe if you had posted in 'Film' instead of 'AIBU' people would have known that you were on about a film.

FFS. Frankly, if you are (one is - not a personal attack) too thick to work out what the title might have meant then you're highly unlikely to be able to answer my questions anyway.

Jeez.

And maybe posting in film would have lead to an audience that were intelligent enough to share your questions.

But I'm sure someone of your advanced intelligence level wouldn't need someone as thick as me to spell that out to them.

Morepositivemum · 24/02/2026 20:56

Haven’t watched it yet but since it’s nominated for so much I’d have guessed it was non sensical, dark etc. God the day something normal wins at those award ceremonies I’ll be really shocked!!!

britinnyc · 24/02/2026 20:59

It is nominated for an Oscar so I am not sure why people are acting like this question is so obscure. I assumed the kid had an eating disorder and I think the husband worked away (on a ship I think?) and the hole was symbolic of the black hole that here life and parenting seemed to be. Very odd film

I understand you're probably feeling embarrassed about not being able to grasp what I was posting about, but really all you (or anyone else) had to do was to read the title and the OP. It was hardly a Mensa puzzle.

An obscure question, a narky OP and thus far no actual clue what on earth this is about.
Jesus. I'm going to smell the evening air.

That’s really unfair on OP . The title of the Oscar nominated film is in the actual title of the thread. It’s a film that has had quite a bit of coverage. I’ve not seen it but I knew what OP meant

Yes, from some of these comments you'd think I'd randomly started asking questions about some obscure Kyrgyzstani art house film from the 1960s without mentioning the title.

Re. IIHLIKY, I think you're right on both counts.

I think, @auserna , you're suffering from the fact that your thread title was grammatically correct. You capitalised the film title and put it in quotation marks. People's reading comprehension is so poor that such things aren't properly recognised. You also mention that it's a film at the end, but lots of people won't have bothered to get to the end. A them problem, not you.
I haven't seen the film but I knew what you were talking about.

PartoftheBand · 24/02/2026 21:24

I haven't seen the film but find it quite odd how many people are claiming to be so clueless considering Rose Byrne has been nominated for a BAFTA (and an Oscar?) for it, and the title of the film is in the OP title???

domenica1 · 24/02/2026 21:26

I haven’t seen it OP so can’t answer the question but it was indeed obvious what your post was about!

I actually started a thread recently about people not being able to read properly. QED!

Agree. It's obvious from the title that it's about a book, a film or a play, or something similar, right? If you've seen it or read it you'll know, if you haven't then it's your choice to look it up or scroll on. I haven't seen it but I did Google it out of curiosity to see if I'd be interested (I think I wouldn't enjoy it) and the first thing that came up was the Wikipedia entry for the film.

IHateAlzheimers · 24/02/2026 21:59

Having read the Wiki purely off the back of your thread title and OP all I can do is applaud you for sitting through the actual film. If it was as odd and frustrating as that made it sound you deserve a prize not idiots who have little reading comprehension skills dragging you

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 24/02/2026 23:09

auserna · 23/02/2026 20:00

Haha - that's sort of what watching the film felt like!

I will admit I had no idea what your post was about. But, having the powers of reading, comprehension and google, I worked it out.

I'm sorry that your comprehension skills are lacking.

All I did was suggest somewhere that might be more appropriate for this thread to be posted. That's it. For some reason you seem to have taken that to be a personal insult.

I haven't watched the film, which is why I have been unable to comment on it's content.

I hope this helps clear things up.
