Benefit fraud, driving without a licence and living their best life’s

So a girl I know (friend of a friend) and her partner, live in a council house, they claim all sorts of benefits for their children (one of the does have diabetes but that’s it) she does beauty therapy and her dodgy boyfriend has just built her a beauty room in a council house which Im pretty sure you’re not meant to do. And she definitely doesn’t pay taxes or declares her beauty income.

The worst part of this is that her boyfriend is a nasty peace of work, been in and out of prison for drug dealing but is also disqualified from driving and yet is driving to Kent each day for work without a license.

Their social media posts are them lavishing it in luxury holidays etc, their 4 children had new iPads and Xbox’s etc at Christmas. And yes I’m jealous because I work 3 jobs to give my children a nice house and am
a law abiding citizen and yet still struggle!

Is it bad I find it tempting to report them both?

Definitely report

OccasionalHope · 14/02/2026 22:02

Just report them and don't waste your life seething about it or complaining on social media.

TBF you may not know all the details.

CloakedInGucci · 14/02/2026 22:03

I wouldn’t feel remotely bad about reporting someone who was driving while banned.

ilovesooty · 14/02/2026 22:04

Council house - tick
Disability benefits - tick
Holidays - tick
Not declaring income - tick

Go on. Report them if it would make you feel better.

dailyconniptions · 14/02/2026 22:04

Definitely report this.

Dairymilkisminging · 14/02/2026 22:05

If you get permission you can work out of the house. The dangerous driving is worth reporting. But the ipads ect could all be on credit cards

ilovesooty · 14/02/2026 22:05

However I'd be concerned about someone driving without a licence.

wanttoworkbut · 14/02/2026 22:05

Oh this is definitely true 😅

Scramado · 14/02/2026 22:06

Why not report? I can see no downside.

Isittimeformynapyet · 14/02/2026 22:08

I've reported you to the Grammar Police for "life's".

PinkLemonadee · 14/02/2026 22:09

Fucking hell can we go one day without a benefits bashing post...

superchick · 14/02/2026 22:09

Driving to Kent? Surely not.

Just report them and get on with your life. You then won't need to give it any thought.

Itsmetheflamingo · 14/02/2026 22:10

You really think you’re going to unleash some kind of revenge by reporting them? 🤣

the authorities are what law abiding people are scared off. He won’t give a shit. Getting into trouble is the cost of business for him.

Screamingabdabz · 14/02/2026 22:11

I wouldn’t hesitate to report them. There is some sort of moralistic ‘judgey snitches get stitches’ on MN because it’s mainly the middle classes who have no idea what it feels like to work your arse off as a law abiding WC person and the dismay of seeing people ripping off the benefits system and getting away with murder. Fuck ‘em. Report report report. What’s the worst that can happen?

CherryBlossom321 · 14/02/2026 22:24

How on earth do you know so much about the lifestyle of a “friend of a friend”? How does one claim “all sorts of benefits” for their children?

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 14/02/2026 22:25

Just report them...

Driving whilst disqualified (possibly for dangerous driving/causing injury) - tick

This alone makes them deserving of being reported.

There's nothing about being in a council house that means you can't run a business from home. Technically you're meant to ask permission, but unless it's a type of business that's going to cause a problem for the neighbours it wouldn't be an issue. Depending on how much she earns from the business she may not be required to pay tax (if she's part time it may not be a lot) And as her child has a disability as a family they'll be entitled to more benefits than if not.

By all means report them if you wish but it's entirely possible that it's only the BF that's doing anything wrong. Many people who appear flashy on social media either exaggerate, or manage it because it's the only thing they prioritise, eg not having savings, buying things on credit/HP etc.

As Nan would say… “What a lot of old shit.”

Yes, I did address that in a subsequent post.
