To think that a grown man should not pee behind a tree in the playpark?

DD and I were at the Park last week.

To set the scene: One man and 2 young DC were there as well. He was on his mobile and reading paperwork of some sort - I assumed for work judging by his phone convos. His DC were lovely and chatted to me and DD, let her go on things before them etc "as she is littler".

We were there about 15 minutes and DD was on the swings I happened to look around and the Dad had disappeared. So I looked around some more, there he was peeing up against a tree Back to us but OMG - in the Playpark.
We left then. Am I being a bit precious - I find this totally unacceptable.

unless he had some sort of a bladder condition, a bit lazy of him, but I wouldn't have made my kids leave!

margoandjerry · 16/06/2008 13:31

Or in my doorway.

Women don't pee in public. They use the facilities available even if that means waiting. Why men can't is completely beyond me.

squeaver · 16/06/2008 13:34

Because they're men. They don't think beyond their current state of mind or body.

This is how his thought process went:

Oh God, I really need to pee.

Kids are having a nice time with that woman and her kid.

Can't deal with rounding them up and having to explain why we have to go.

Ah, there's a tree.

Aaaaaahhh, that's better.

SmugColditz · 16/06/2008 14:00

A man's urethra is physiologically different to a woman's. It could be that he couldn't wait.

That's why boys are usually later to potty train than girls.

Saying they are lazy, dirty and disgusting is like saying girls who aren't as strong as boys are lazy, wimpish and are trying to get out of sport.

Cappuccino · 16/06/2008 14:04

I wish I could pee in a tree

I have spent hours trying to coax stubborn children home because I need the loo

also I would like an IV drip for when I am hungry and thirsty

DrNortherner · 16/06/2008 14:06

I think men never get the knack of holding it in and waiting cause they never have to.

How many mums of ds's (me included) say just go behind that tree when they need to wee? I do.

It's hardly crime of the century.

Cappuccino · 16/06/2008 14:07

I am just wondering why the OP felt it necessary to point out that he was doing paperwork in the playpark?

is that more or less acceptable than weeing? or is it that professional men shouldn't wee in public?

if he had been driving a white van would that have been okay?

DrNortherner · 16/06/2008 14:11

If he was driving a white van he could have peed in the van.

Reminds me of many yaers ago when dh and I (then my boyfriend) were going to an all night rave and a pissed up fellow passenger needed to wee, the driver refused to stop so he tried to do it into an emty bottle of beer but his aim wa shit and it was trickling down the bus like a river. It stank.

I'd have much preffered it if he's have weed in a bush.

Oliveoil · 16/06/2008 14:14

dh would not piss in the park

and I don't want to see anyone else's dh pissing in the park either tbh

different with children

once, dd2, ALWAYS pissing in her pants, said the dreaded words, mummmeeeeeeeeee I need the toilet

so as we had just left the cafe area not 5 mins before AND I HAD ASKED HER IF SHE NEEDED TO GO and I was cross, nobboid here said, harrumph, oh just go here near this bush

pulled her pants and skirt down......and she peed all over my arm, hand, her clothes and her shoes

dd1 said...oh dear mummy

id love to not have to take the children home or to a public toilet if i neded a wee.

wotulookinat · 16/06/2008 14:36

notdoingthehousework, did he give any explanation as to why he was weeing on your fence?

branflake81 · 16/06/2008 14:43

I always wee in the park. Behind bushes of course. Obviously I'm the only one.....

margoandjerry · 16/06/2008 14:50

smugcolditz I'm sorry but physiologically women have far more problems with this than men. Women go through pregnancy and childbirth and are therefore more likely to suffer from incontinence. They also have periods.

The fact that men do it is completely socially constructed. The men who piss in my doorway have just left the pub next door (which has a toilet). They just choose not to use it and use my doorway instead.

DrNortherner · 16/06/2008 14:53

My MIL lost her mobile while peeing in a bush the other week.

Fluffybitoffun · 16/06/2008 15:05

What a load of old tosh, men's urethra's mean they have to pee in public?

My baby's head engaged at 32 weeks and I spent 10 weeks walking around with (what turned out to be a 10 pound) baby in my pelvis.

I managed to make it to a bathroom every time though.

It was lazy and disgusting of him.

motheroftwoboys · 16/06/2008 15:18

I was on a bus last week and overheard the woman sitting behind me telling her husband on the phone that she had gone upstairs and found a woman squatting at the back of the bus peeing! . The pee went all over the other woman's feet - she had flip flops on! Isn't that DISGUSTING! I must admit, if that had been me, I would have gone straight downstairs and complained to the driver (which she did when she got off) rather than ring my DH! When I got off myself I passed some comment to the driver along the lines of what is the world coming to. . He said he has seen "a lot worse" - the mind boggles!!!!!

motheroftwoboys, I saw a man do that on the top of a bus once. I went downstairs and told the driver. He shrugged and drove on...

cktwo · 17/06/2008 18:54

I saw someone toss it off on a bus once. Now that's so so so much worse than peeing behind a tree.
