To want dd's teddy back?

MissingTeddy · 12/02/2026 11:11

We gave dd(8)’s favourite teddy (her constant companion for 5 years) to John Lewis’ Teddy Bear Repair & Refresh service before Christmas to be cleaned and mended.

It’s been lost while in their care (or technically the care of Johnson's dry cleaning and/or the courier and/or the repair centre, who are all involved with the service).

She’s been asking almost daily when her bear is coming home and I haven’t yet told her it's lost.

The exact bear isn’t available new or secondhand anywhere online.

I’m sharing in the hope that someone might recognise it, have one tucked away, or know where I might find an identical replacement.

I’ll post a photo below. Any help hugely appreciated 💛

Wanted an AIBU to get more traffic so: AIBU to think the £35 compensation the dry cleaning company has offered isn't going to cut it with my dd and I somehow need to find an identical bear?

Now wish I'd just taken it to our local Repair Cafe who would have mended it while I waited!

Sorry if this has been mentioned already (I haven’t read the whole thread), but maybe you could reach out to the manufacturer and explain what happened? They might have a few lying around. I saw this article about them: https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/18436596.mochdre-based-teddy-company-reveals-supplied-hundreds-bears-killing-eve/

They’re called Be My Bear (same as the Amazon seller).

Marmalademorning · 13/02/2026 16:40

I have a pro version of an AI and I asked it to help me find a bear the same as your daughter’s OP. This is what it has suggested. But basically it says your best bet is to email the manufacturer which is a family business. The AI text has provided their email address in the detail below:

The Bear’s Identity
Brand: Be My Bear (a company based in Mochdre, North Wales).
Model Name: The 8" Pink Angel Bear (often sold as the "Killing Eve" bear).
Distinctive Features: Pink fur with blue/turquoise glittery paws (soles of feet), inner ears, and nose.
The "Killing Eve" Connection: This specific bear was featured in Killing Eve (Series 3, Episode 3), where the character Villanelle records a voice message into it. Be My Bear sold it as an official kit called the "Killing Eve Princess Teddy Bear," which is why the Amazon listing looks the way it does.
Why it's hard to find
Because it was a TV tie-in from a few years ago (around 2020), the specific "Killing Eve" boxed kits are likely sold out. However, the bear inside the box is the "Angel" model (or sometimes referred to as the "Pink Sparkle" bear in their older catalogue).

Best Strategy to Find One
1. Contact the Manufacturer Directly (Highest Probability)
Since "Be My Bear" is a UK-based family business (not a faceless global corporation), they are the best hope. They might have:

• An old "Angel" bear skin left in their warehouse that isn't listed on the website.
• A "returns" pile or a display model.
• Knowledge of which current bear is the closest match (e.g., they currently sell a "Katie Kitty" with the same blue glitter eyes, so they still use those materials).
You can suggest she email them with this info:

"I am looking for the 8-inch Pink Angel Bear (the one with the blue glitter paws used in the Killing Eve kit). My daughter's was lost by a dry cleaner and she is devastated. Do you have any old stock of this specific bear skin, even unboxed?"

Website: bemybear.com
Email: [email protected] (or via their contact form).

2. Specific Search Terms for eBay/Vinted
Sellers on second-hand sites often don't know the "Killing Eve" connection. She should search for the visuals rather than the name:
• "Be My Bear" pink blue paws
• "Be My Bear" pink glitter
• "Be My Bear" Angel
• Pink teddy bear blue sparkly feet

3. "Make Your Own" Bear Shops
Since "Be My Bear" supplies wholesale to many small "stuff a bear" shops, holiday parks, and party planners across the UK, a small local retailer might still have this skin in stock.

• She could try posting on Facebook groups for "bear making supplies" or "wholesale soft toys" asking if anyone has the "Be My Bear Pink Angel 8 inch skin".

Apologies if it’s already been mentioned (I’ve not read whole thread) but have you gone on Facebook groups for toy searching; I think there’s one called little blue cup which searches for specific toys etc. Hope you manage to find one!

I’ve been reading about some weight loss patches and I wondered if anyone has had any success with weight loss patches I can’t remember the full name of them but it started with Trim it might have been Trimstay or something similar to that. Thanks hope you can help.

I still have mine, he sits on a chair in my bedroom. He's rather grubby and bends where he has been 'sat' for so long but my grandfather gave it to me on my christening day (so it's almost 50) and every time I see it I think of my grandpa.

I really hope you find one or they find it. I've been Googling and couldn't see any. 😢

Edited

Mine used to growl when you tilted him forward. His growl has lost its mojo over the years and now sounds like a burp.

Lainie · 13/02/2026 17:53

while you wait for one to appear on e bay go on one of the photoshop pages and get pictures of teddy having a great time on holiday or doing stuff with see ya soon messages on them . oh! and one day you'll both look back on this time and smile x

closest i could find with image search using your image , you can also purchase voice box recorders separately from searching plus build a bear outfits to make the bear look mostly the same?

I hope you get a solution soon , my children all have a bear too and would be distraught without their little friend 😞

sending luck your way 🤞🏻

@MissingTeddyjust bumping this in case you haven’t seen it!

MincePieandBaileys · 13/02/2026 18:21

I dragged a copy of the bear into Google images, and it brought up lots of images.
You could check them out, and see whether anything suitable.
Good luck

Well done! 😃 💪🏻

Ask for the courier contact details and ring them yourself.
All parcels are scanned and are on their system so they will know the last location and the name of the driver if it was in a van.

You're better off going direct as otherwise you are relying on a 3rd party to follow-up which many CS staff simply can't be arsed to do.

Someone else should post another link to one of the wrong Build a Bears, there've only been about 30 far.

User0311 · 13/02/2026 19:41

I would be heartbroken as would my child! How do they just lose it?

TheHappyHippy · 13/02/2026 19:42

I've still got my Teddy and I'm 70 next birthday.

At least someone broke up the monotony with a random question about weight loss patches a page or so back… 🙈🤣😭

Look up The Toy Project in Archway, London. They are amazing, wonderful people and may have one of these bears you could buy. You might have to call them or message on Instagram but I am a long time customer of theirs and I’m sure that if they can help you they will!
