I honestly don’t think I’ve come across a show in such poor taste before and I am no stranger to stories about murder and the like.

It crosses a huge line in terms of stripping individuals of their dignity.

I don’t plan on watching it but when I turned Netflix on the other night to put a TV show on for my children there it was - horrid and completely unnecessary.

The Investigation of Lucy Letby review – this sensationalist take isn’t what this awful case needs

The broad-brush, emotive telling of the questions around the neonatal nurse’s conviction uses arrest footage that her parents have said ‘would likely kill us’ if they watched. Did her mother’s howl of distress need to be broadcast?

This is an example of why I truly believe that human beings are fucking nasty. This is just nasty.

yanbu - 3 stars was even too much.

Just let the poor woman out. There is not a single expert left standing that believes any baby was harmed intentionally and it's horrific that she is rotting in jail as a scapegoat for a failing NHS unit.

The “poor woman” was convicted in court of murdering multiple children. Sick of internet detectives who know nothing spouting this crap. Think of the poor parents of those babies who have to read this.

Evidence has come out since which casts doubt on her previous convictions. I think she deserves a retrial but she’s been denied this twice.

So called Internet Detectives have had a chance to read through all the information and articles written on this case.

I personally think the hospital has a lot to answer for too. And they haven’t been held accountable at all.

I agree. This case has more holes than my colander. She was sacrificed to save a failing neonatal unit and the doctors who were in charge.

No one knows.

that’s the major problem. Her life has been ruined whatever decision is ultimately made, but whatever she has or hasn’t done, her parents haven’t.

The still image of her in bed makes me feel very uncomfortable, and that’s jus from newspapers / home page of Netflix (really don’t like that) so god knows what its doing to her family.

The beginning couple of minutes with her mother wailing is extremely hard to watch. It's actually done the police no favours as it's humanised Lucy even more in my view.

@Aquarius91 good to see you've got all your information of the case from the daily fail. There's a lot more to it if you have a read.

Absolute joke considering the conspiracy theorists are out in force e here who’s primary information source is probably TikTok and you tube. How arrogant to assume you know more than the expert witnesses and jury who have actually heard the evidence.
Am I saying with 100% certainty there wasn’t a miscarriage of justice? Of course not, I’m not that arrogant. But I trust the justice system in this country and believe that posting stuff like this when there are bereaved parents potentially reading is absolutely crass.

Image has A LOT to do with it. White ✅ middle class ✅ slim/attractive by accepted beauty standards ✅
If she was none of these things people wouldn’t have half the sympathy.

You think this is crass but footage of her being arrested while in bed is going to help with their grief? Honestly, do you? Because it won’t, will it?

It sounds as awful as expected from Netflix. I had a feeling it would be sensationalist when last week I noticed in the media there was an emphasis in the programme on previously unreleased footage of her at home - like that matters. Has Netflix ever made a balanced documentary?

I hope she’s freed at some point.

Atleast 1 of the expert witnesses is in no way an expert and its come out that the card data that was relied on was at best inaccurate and 1 of the drs has changed their testimony multiple times.
The convictions are dubious even without the new medical evidence.
The conviction is unsafe and she should be retired as whilst I suspect she's guilty there's just to many questions about the evidence at her trial

Strange you say that, given it's the daily fail pushing her innocence. Including some paywall article from the ghastly Nadine Dorees today.

In fairness, it's not just Internet detectives. Medical experts and the former health secretary have publicly said they do not believe Letby committed the murders. I have no idea if she did it, but this is not one of those cases where only reddit crackpots believed there's been a miscarriage of justice.

Enrichetta · 04/02/2026 16:24

It has not been established beyond reasonable doubt that any of the babies who died were actually murdered. These were gravely ill babies who could have died at any time, and there simply is not enough evidence to support the conclusion that they were murdered.

Definitely wouldn't trust the justice system. Pedophile and sex offenders get a slap on the wrist and drug dealers behind bars for years.
No faith in the justice system. Fails many many many people.

How arrogant does the “expert” witness need to be to still think he’s right even after the person who wrote the study which he misinterpreted says he’s got it wrong. Even after the author of that study assembled a panel of 40 world leading experts who have reviewed all the medical notes and said there were no murders. 🤷‍♀️

But then remember this expert witness is the man who had another unconnected judge from a previous trial write to the judge of the LL trial to warn him that his expert witness will happily tailor his evidence and opinion depending who is paying him.

HighStreetOtter · 04/02/2026 16:30

And let’s not forget the doctor who’s evidence in court contradicted his statement/notes at the time of the incident.

fartotheleftside · 04/02/2026 16:32

It's one of the biggest serial killer cases in UK history. In the eyes of the law she's guilty. Obviously there were going to be some big documentaries about it.

Why is it less moral to make a documentary about this than any of the other true crime cases out there?

Treeper22 · 04/02/2026 16:45

Rather shocking that one of the consultants who compiled the 'evidence' against her admits in this that he feels a 'tiny, tiny bit of doubt' and 'guilt' over her conviction. And let's not forget the other consultant whose eye witness testimony changed and was who was caught out blatantly lying about what he saw.

Shit show springs to mind.

I can’t think of any other documentary that has featured footage like the footage I’ve seen.

I think the way it is presented - as entertainment - is highly distasteful, especially as regardless as to what our own opinions might be there is a huge question mark relating to her guilt, and lies have been proven to be told.

Absolutely!

I have no idea if Lucy Letby is guilty of murder. If her crimes are incompetence and/or negligence, in combination with systemic failures then I want her murder sentence to be quashed and for her to face appropriate consequences, not a murder sentence.

Having said that, it’s undeniable that a lot of the sympathy for Lucy Letby is because she reminds the Great (white) British public of their daughters, nieces, granddaughters and goddaughters. That’s what got so many people, professionals and laypeople, reviewing the case, unpaid, in their spare time.

I knew people would be surprised that a nice-looking young woman like her was found to be guilty of murder. I just didn’t expect people to actually write that down. But they did. On Mumsnet threads immediately after she was convicted, people wrote how she didn’t look the sort. Which just goes to show how superficial much of the public are.

A person who kills multiple newborn babies is clearly a psychopath. Beautiful people can’t be psychopaths? I’m just glad Letby wasn’t being shadowed by a portly, older ethnic minority student nurse or the murders would probably have been attributed to the student nurse instead.

Such a silly and reductive thing to say. You don’t know this, it’s just your opinion.

Xmasxrackers · 04/02/2026 17:02

Off topic but does anyone know why they are having an inquest into 5 of the babies after her conviction? Is this related to the unsafe conviction?
