Anon9898 · 26/01/2026 14:15

Just that really. Now she has been confirmed what are people's thoughts.

I'm not excited by Nigella would have preferred a Bake Off winner or former contestant maybe?

I know the celeb is is Cherish from the professionals one.

Would of loved some one a bit funnier and warmer the Nigella

I love her old shows but she’s like a caricature of herself now. I do like her recipes though so it’ll be interesting to see what’s she’s like.

I'm delighted that she's going to be doing it...my daughter, not so much 😂.

I don't mind PH these days but if they were to replace him with someone nerdier, my vote goes to Nigel Slater.

James Martin would also be great but I can't see it happening.

Oooh, I’d love to see Nigel Slater as a judge!

PearlieQueen · 26/01/2026 20:42

Nigel and Nigella would be the dream team!

Barleybumpsadaisy · 26/01/2026 20:43

I’m not a fan of Nigella.

Blueuggboots · 26/01/2026 20:48

I can’t see how it’s going to work. I love Nigella and I love bake off. But together? I’m
not feeling it.

RawBloomers · 26/01/2026 20:52

Not excited by Nigella particularly, though she might be good.

Glad it's not a previous contestant, though. The show's already a bit stuck in a rut.

LayaM · 26/01/2026 20:56

I absolutely love her and I have felt the show is a bit tired for the last couple of seasons, so I'm glad they've gone for someone with a personality. I find Paul so cringey but she'll have his number.

CompanyOfThieves · 26/01/2026 21:02

Surely anyone's better than Prue Leith?

starfishmummy · 26/01/2026 21:26

GCAcademic · 26/01/2026 15:34

I agree that she is not a baker and is less credible for this show than Mary Berry and Prue Leith, both of whom had a strong industry profile. But I expect that this is a decision that has been made based on TV ratings rather than baking prowess.

I agree.

pestowithwalnuts · 26/01/2026 21:30

I wonder if she'll say things like
" it's such a somber majesty ".when talking about treacle

bigboykitty · 26/01/2026 21:31

I really like her and think she's be ace

MrsLizzieDarcy · 26/01/2026 21:34

I hope it means a bit of a reset having a new presenter. They need to go back to the basics, I just can't be arsed with some of the technical challenges for foreign bakery goods no one has ever heard of. I love her Domestic Goddess book, mine is very well used and stuck together. I just hope she drops the affected sexual voice thing - that really grates on me and I haven't watched past 10 minutes of any of her recent shows because of it.

CompanyOfThieves · 26/01/2026 21:02

Surely anyone's better than Prue Leith?

Do you actually watch the show?

A great many people would not be better than Prue Leith.

MMAMPWGHAP · 26/01/2026 22:03

I like Nigella. Have made many of her cakes which have all been very good. I hope it signals dialling down some of the ornate cake decorating which isn’t her style. Quite like the foreign bakes as you learn something new but the 15 layer French patisserie stuff should go.

Geronimode · 27/01/2026 00:13

after some of the dreadful suggestions on the who should take over thread i’m relieved tbh.

DelphineFox · 27/01/2026 00:15

Happy with Nigella. She's great.

DinoLil · 27/01/2026 00:56

I can't stand her either. I won't watch again.

Thinkabouttherecipe67 · 27/01/2026 01:22

caramac04 · 26/01/2026 14:52

Not my first choice. Not convinced she will get the best out of the bakers.
Nancy Birtwhistle would have been great or Lorraine Pascale.
I don’t see Nigella as a baker, more of a cook (yes I know she can bake but it’s not her image).
I do hope innuendos are not the go to fodder regarding many of the bakes.

I feel the same way! I would have loved Nancy or Lorraine.

I’m quite surprised that Nigella is willing to host a programme that is on its fourth or fifth version tbh! It seems a bit down market for her. But maybe she needs the income?

Also, the tabloids seem obsessed with this show and I worry that the sort of publicity that this appointment will generate, will not do her mh many favours.

I do like Nigella’s books. Her Christmas book is one of the best recipe books ever, and she writes extremely well, but I dislike the silly archness of her programmes as they all seem so contrived with the fake dinner guests! And to me she comes across as quite fragile and the opposite of a happy host.

Hopefully she will be better than I imagine! And they will have got me to tune in out of curiosity which I suppose is the aim!

LeDix · 27/01/2026 01:29

I think she’ll be fantastic!

Delphiniumandlupins · 27/01/2026 02:04

I'm sure she'll be fine. The daftness of Bake Off annoys me -the silly dressing up stuff which even Pottery Throwdown is doing now. But they'll have screen tested her with PH so it will be interesting to see how that pans out. I quite like her programmes, that massive pantry which is better stocked than any supermarket and deli combined. I do get irritated when she cooks one chicken which generously feeds a dinner party of 10 people! (Just realised that is a typical MN chicken.)

LivingTheDreamish · 27/01/2026 02:12

I do love Nigella, she lacks the technical expertise of Mary or Prue so that is the only thing for me that might be lacking.

Georgiepud · 27/01/2026 02:18

She has quite some vocabulary when it comes to describing food creations!
I like her.

ScaredOfFlying · 27/01/2026 02:40

She's fab. She’s a writer first and foremost so will be great at finding novel ways to articulate her judgments. She was a judge on The Taste (US version and short-lived UK one) for years so this is not her first rodeo. She is perfect for the innuendo-laden style and Hollywood will not dare patronise her.

She absolutely is a baker (Domestic Goddess book was a breakout hit) and really understands the history and culture of food. If I had applied for GBBO expecting Prue and found out I was getting Nigella instead I’d be thrilled.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/01/2026 02:42

Im disappointed. I wanted Delia.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 27/01/2026 03:23

At least she likes eating, unlike Mary Berry who nibbled a crumb in the corner of her mouth.
Looking forward to her.
