I started down the gym a week before Christmas. Cut alcohol first of jan and been dieting and upping protein. Been going gym 4 times a week. Started weight training and lifting weights. Was feeling good this morning. Weighed in and ive lost 3lbs. Im a couple of stones overweight.

Im really demoralised. All my mates have lost loads of weight on ghe jabs. Im just wondering if im doing the right thing now. Aibu?

jabs didn't make me lose faster. They made me lose longer, that's the difference. If you are struggling with food noise and addiction, yes you can get your willpower together and restrict food, but it's exhausting and most people fall off the wagon rather sooner than later, usually before they have achieved their desired weight loss. Another failed diet.

Me too, I couldn’t keep it up, not every days for months and months. And then live like that in maintenance, I was insulin resistant with sleep apnea and high cortisol, it was an impossible task to get myself out of it; when your exhausted and constantly craving foods and feeling starving hungry. Mj let me lose consistently and for the length of time needed.

at 1.5 lbs a week, it was not fast, it was healthy weight loss, but it was sustained over the amount of time it took me to lose over 6 stone.

This 100%. Someone made a really rude comment about my weight loss on here, had the nerve to say how worrying it was (dont know them at all). I have been on the jabs since 1st November. Had 3 stone to lose, have lost 31lb since then but that is actually only 2.4lb a week but if you take off the 9/10lb I lost in the first week it is under 2lb a week. Its just consistant every week which obviously is so hard doing it alone when life events etc get in the way. I haven't lost over 2lb in a week for a while so its definitely a healthy weight loss.

There's a lot of concern trolling on here about MJ. I only realised after starting the jabs and engaging in online discussion how many people have thinness ranking systems, and don't want their own positions relative to others to change.

Its so bizarre how 'concerned' they are about an overweight person now being a healthy weight. I totally understand feeling a genuine envy of someone losing weight when you have tried and haven't (i felt it) but I was always pleased for them just annoyed I wasnt managing it.

I did both despite being in the “you don’t need jabs if you’ve only got 2 stone to lose” catagory. Had an awful 18 months where Covid triggered recurrence of my childhood asthma, which took ages to get under control and interpurptes by exercise routine then I had to have significant surgery which took me out for months and then just when I was getting back to it I broke my leg. This plus perimenopause onset and I gained 18kg over this period. Trying to lose just felt insurmountable especially as I’d gone from pretty fit to barely able to heave myself up the hill from the station and all my joints hurt. It’s taken me six months to lose the weight but best part was from first week of the injections the joint pain subsided so I’ve consistently made 4x a week gym, often 5. Am mixing heavy weights, spinning for cardio body pump because I just like it and reformer for flexibility and balance. So nice feeling strong and fit again but I will also stay on low dose wli for a further year until my body gets back used to this weight level and I embed the fitness changes. Another vote for “Both” , if affordable

Skip breakfast. Intermittent fasting. I’m skinny and realised when reviewing a students paper (academic) that that’s the reason I’m not fat. What time to you go to the gym.

I rarely eat anything before 11:30 or after 7pm and have been overweight for about 25 years.

I just don’t understand their mindset at all. Why would their worth be affected? They are still slim, still get the benefits of that.

For that group, it's about rarity and relative value. If they used to be above 90% of the population in their personal rankings but all of a sudden an extra 20% move up to the same level and some of them even move higher, that means fewer people they can feel superior to. Figures made up to illustrate point, but hopefully you see what I mean.

But you're gaining cardiovascular fitness and strength.
A number on the scales is just one part of the puzzle.
Are you getting 30g+ of fibre a day?

I get you but it’s just so funny, who thinks in personal rankings!

I lost my first baby weight using willpower and calorie deficit. Took 4 months to lose 3 stone (20kg).

This time I’m using mounjaro to lose 3 stone and I think it will take the same time. This time is easy though. It’s magic and absolutely no willpower needed on the diet front 😂 Still need to exercise though to preserve muscle. I found a pharmacy that accepted BMI 27 and perimenopause as a reason.
