So upset about ICE killings in Minnesota

So upset about the killings. No investigation and victim blaming from the Trump administration. I see no hope for America. Trump will cancel the midterms possibly elections or will rig them. The most powerful western country - one we thought was our friend is dying
im so sad for the bereaved and do sad for the country

This. But Fox News is already spinning madly to find a way to make both work.

A friend in the US sent me videos she recorded of the Fox News 'alternative facts' as they were being shown.

The cognitive dissonance is mind blowing. Not surprising, mind, just eye opening

Surely a fundamental aspect of having a constitutional right to do something is that government agents can't kill you for doing it!

An awful lot of pro-gun people seem to have suddenly abandoned their principles for some reason...

The constitution has been sacred for 200+ years. There's always seemed to be an almost obsessive worship of it

Suddenly, it has been cast aside with blatant violations daily. Constitutional rights, that were so central, are suddenly optional.
Another glaring hallmark of fascism

AliasGrape · 26/01/2026 22:20

It makes me sick that they’ve spent 30+ years arguing that some school children have to die so they can protect their precious second amendment.

And now the argument for executing a citizen in the street is ‘he had a gun’.

I thought the whole point of the second amendment was to stand up to tyrannical governments 🤷‍♀️

Even Fox was giving Kash Patel a hard time earlier. The NY Post (right wing rag) was also calling for ICE to stop.

The MAGA posters on here should stop and think - if even MTG is condemning this, how far right must one be to be defending it? And who is that man with the moustache stood next to you?

There is some good news though, Noem and Bovino have had all responsibility for Minnesota removed from them. I am not saying that Homan will necessarily be any more human (though his face is his own, unlike Noem), but this is good news because it shows that the administration are worried about how this makes them look, come the midterms. They're worried.

Wouldn't have stopped them beating the crap out of him simply for trying to help a woman they'd assaulted.

And not having a gun didn’t stop them shooting to death Renee Good

The ghost of George III must be very upset.

"People said I was mad! a tyrant! my family was too German!"

What is also glossed over is the 59 shootings by ICEstapo during Mango Mussolini's first term or the 30ish just since January.
ICEstapo also has history of shooting into and at vehicles despite being told not to.
The record number of deaths in ICEstapo custody doesn't rate a mention either. Such a christian country. Jesus would be so proud

The removal of Noem and Bovino won't change much, the lies narrative will stay the same but, regardless, I am glad they have been moved out of view.
Of course, he can't help himself. At the same time, he's announced that he's investigating Ilhan Omar. Never one to hide his hateful and vengeful feelings, acting like a toddler shouldn't be a surprise.
No, not at all using his power for personal attacks 🙄

Reminder to those who think bringing a (legally acquired, legally carried) gun to a protest makes a person fair game to be killed.

This is Kyle Rittenhouse, pictured below. He attended a protest against police brutality in Kenosha in 2020 armed with a semi-automatic rifle. He shot three people, killing two. He was acquitted of all charges on the basis of self-defence and was later publicly praised by Donald Trump.

On 6 January 2021, Trump supporters were incited by him to breach the US Capitol during the certification of the presidential election. Rioters assaulted police officers and used weapons and improvised weapons including flagpoles, bats and chemical spray. Many were convicted of violent offences and a large number have since received pardons, and more praise from Donald Trump.

Get your fucking stories straight.

Edited

Yeah not going to feel bad for the two clowns shot by Rittenhouse either. From my vantage point the world is better off without them.

Grosskruetz was an ok guy from all accounts, but then he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse so one could say it wasn’t a surprise that that he got shot.

DdraigGoch · 26/01/2026 21:28

Well there were no masked gangs marauding the streets, beating up people, throwing chemical weapons about, abducting them and murdering them. So there's that...

No just family businesses being torched, billions of dollars being funneled to crime lords in other countries, and withe a higher than average rate than the national median.

Then there is the ghost town of a once vibrant downtown, a huge mall that is abandoned by early evening because of nonsense, and kids being assaulted at amusement parks.

But yeah, what’s your firsthand knowledge of the area?

LlttledrummergirI · 26/01/2026 23:19

Another claim with no evidence backing it up. Yep I believe you.

Do you have a bridge to sell? Or snake oil?

I bet that in October that poster was nodding along to Fox "News" as they showed doctored footage purporting to be Portland. Genuinely believed that it was a "warzone".

She'll be referring to:

Businesses being set ablaze in the 2020 riots in response to George Floyd's killing (which was not exactly an ongoing issue before Trump's deployment of ICE...).

Re "billions of dollars being fuelled to crime lords overseas", that'll be the massive fraud scheme from ~2020. That said, while its thought that the whole scheme involved billions of dollars of fraud, only a relatively small portion (still at least tens of millions of dollars, mind) went overseas, and there is concern that some of it may have reached extremist groups.

Haven’t been to Portland for about 20 years so no comment from me on the state of things there. Was in Minneapolis about 6 months ago give or take was at the mall I mentioned at the same time.

funny story the stadium that was destroyed to build that mall was one of the best places to see a concert, many happy memories of my misspent youth are from there.

Oh, you mean Mall of America? Its doing really well. Obviously, classic malls have struggled since consumers have shifted to online shopping, but MoA has pivoted towards a greater focus on entertainment, making it a real success story compared to other flailing malls across the country:

Yes, Mineappolis downtown is struggling - like a lot of downtowns are (again, change in shopping habits which are causing major changes to the highstreet). That said, although it had perhaps the slowest initial post-pandemic recovery for foot traffic, by 2024 it was one of the best performing downtowns in North America.

Yup that’s the one!

Super well it’s doing they even managed to bounce back from that pesky shooting and that silly incident where a small boy was thrown from a third(?) story balcony. Luckily the PR team has been Johnny on the spot to get people in the doors!

As for downtown… well I will be generous and give 2023 information

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/downtown-minneapolis-safety-security-summit/
I think the message here is “it’s totally safe as long as you disregard fentanyl, sex crimes , and/or don’t look at other neighborhoods”.

ETA: now go walk down the street of downtown during the late evening early. Night and report back…same with hanging out at the mall!

Mall of America is the single most visited mall in the whole country, and you're painting it as a deserted wasteland.

For downtown - I don't think using the 2023 data is very generous! At that point, it was among the worst performing downtowns (in terms of footfall recovery, post-pandemic) of any major city in North America.

For the following year (2023-2024), it was the best performing:

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/some-cities-downtowns-are-finally-seeing-a-post-pandemic-turnaround-study-135637982.html

Which is pretty much what I said in my last post...

Some cities’ downtowns are finally seeing a post-pandemic turnaround: Study

Attempts to bring the cities' downtowns back to life have been complicated by various factors, among them "new patterns of remote work."

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

I first read 1984 in 1989. It's depressing that Orwell got it so right.😒

The US of course is famous for gun violence being entirely confined to desolate wastelands. It never ever happens in nice areas. Oh wait...

and that silly incident where a small boy was thrown from a third(?) story balcony.
The Tate Modern had a similar incident. As far as I can tell, this hasn't affected its draw as a visitor attraction (though the 'art' there is not to my taste).

In terms of law enforcement, MPD have spent five years trying to rebuild trust in law enforcement after one of their officers murdered a man. All of that community outreach has been blown apart now.

Victim blaming 🤣 these people are protecting murderes and child molestors and im glad so many parents on this threads support that 🙄😳

a man run and abandoned his boy they took the boy to his mother she didnt want him and you are blaming law enforcement officers !

Im so confused. Did they deserve to die no but why are they out protesting for the very vermin that make the streets unsafe ? This world is messed up.

Obama and Biden also sent ICE agents into communities not a protest was seen but because its Trump the world is going crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you all need help

Mineappolis? 2024.

I haven't been to MOA and have no opinion on whether or not its a shithole, but a cursory Google confirms its consistently the busiest mall in the US with ~40m visitors p/a.
