I love the look of their rugs and I really want one for the living room. I’ve picked the design I like but I’d need the largest size, which is over £1,000. It’s a lot of money to spend without seeing or feeling it, so I just wondered if anyone else has one and whether you are still pleased with it. This is the one I like. There’s a sale on so I’m quite keen to buy it today.

They come with a pad underneath so you can wash the top part. I wasn’t impressed tbh, once the top parts had been washed a few times the corners turned up. I spent a fortune on them only to be disappointed in the end. They were washed carefully according to instructions but ended up looking shabby at the corners. I wouldn’t buy them again.

SamphiretheTervosaur · 24/01/2026 09:16

I've looked at them for ages and wondered

We were unexpectedly left with no carpet and bought a Dunelm washable rug for about £100. So far we've been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to wash, no curling.... yet 😊

Figmentofmyimagination · 24/01/2026 09:16

Thanks - that’s useful to know. The children are all grown up and have mostly left home and the dog is no longer with us so I’m hoping not to have to wash it that often especially as it will be quite large. Do you mind me asking offen did you wash it?

I washed them 3 times. I got the flat woven ones with the mat underneath, there was an all in one version you could get, maybe those ones would be different? I found them very thin too.

Figmentofmyimagination · 24/01/2026 09:22

Oh thanks. Very thin is more off putting. I’ll have to think about it some more.

I've got one of the large Iris Apfel rugs.. it is thin but the undermat makes it comfy and it looks lovely

Owly11 · 24/01/2026 09:47

For £1000 you could get a beautiful real rug - why would you want to spend that kind of money on a kind of fake rug?

WineNoMore20 · 24/01/2026 09:52

I have had one for about 5 years it’s one of the largest size. I have washed mine 3 times - at a laundrette and the corners do lift so i have to weight them for a while to flatten.
the biggest issue for me is how much the colour has faded. It still looks nice but is only half as bright as when new. I contacted ruggable about the fading and their response was that this is expected and that the rugs are only guaranteed to retain quality for 1 year. Had I known this I would have spent my £1000 plus elsewhere!

SedentaryCat · 24/01/2026 09:59

We haven't tried washing ours yet. However, the issue we have is that it rucks up and we have to straighten it most days. This is both with and without the under mat.

The rug is thin, even though we bought the slightly thicker one.

Not sure if I'd buy another.

Edited to add: DH says it's good if you don't walk on it!

Figmentofmyimagination · 24/01/2026 10:44

This is so useful because there are loads of positive trust pilot reviews but they are all going to be people who have only just received the product. I still like the design but maybe I’ll scale back and get a smaller one. It’s going on wooden floor boards so the thinness and rucking would be an issue for me, and the fading is a bit meh. I sort of agree with the person who said why spend £1,000 etc etc - that’s why I asked for feedback. It was the design that I really liked, so I wanted feedback about the quality over time. V helpful.

We have a runner in our hall. It has never really stuck to its undermat properly, it is always rucked up and the corners lift. It is handy being able to wash it but I wouldn’t buy another one.

Because they are advertised as machine washable presumably (I have a dog). I like the designs and have thought about getting one. I won't bother now thanks to this thread.

Mt563 · 24/01/2026 10:52

If you don't have kids or dogs, I'd recommend looking for a real wool rug as you have the budget. Even second hand. Much warmer and more durable and shouldn't need much care really.

WhatAboutThisUser · 24/01/2026 11:01

We’ve had one for 5+ years. We got it as it was washable and they had better patterns than we could find elsewhere. We haven’t ever actually washed it though! It’s kind of wipeable as it’s so flat.

We have the thinnest possible undermat and there’s no cushioning underfoot. The thicker underlay was a lot more expensive, but also I think it would make a ridge under the sides.

Having said all that it does look great, it’s just not the most comfy.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 24/01/2026 11:17

If you don't need it to be washable then I'd get something else. I NEED washable rugs and was tempted but Ruggable are so pricey I went with Dunelm in the end. Much cheaper so I get less angry when it has to go in the machine for the fourth time in a month (piddling dog, plus mud). Also, check the size your washing machine can handle if you want washable rugs, I made the mistake of getting a washable rug too big for my machine and I have to hose it down outside.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 24/01/2026 11:18

I wasnt impressed tbh

MidWayThruJanuary · 24/01/2026 11:21

I have 2 doormats for years. They are washed very regularly and corne up as good as new each time.

CeciliaMars · 24/01/2026 11:24

I wanted to love mine, as I need washable rugs. But it's really hard to get them to lie flat on the pad below without it being visible. It never looked quite right.

That is absolutely 😍. I haven't heard of them. Gonna take a look.

Fourfurrymonsters · 24/01/2026 12:00

I have and ended up chucking it. We had 4 big hairy dogs at the time and I thought it was a great idea. In reality it felt paper thin, like walking on a towel. And it make a crinkled noise as well 😭
The washing did not go well.
Something else I rarely see mentioned. You have to have a very specific vacuum. We had a Dyson and it basically sucked up the rug even in the non-sucking mode, and vacuuming became an absolute battle that I could have done without. Would never buy again.

SnowFrogJelly · 24/01/2026 12:04

I got a Ruggable rug from John Lewis.. very pleased so far but haven’t tried washing it

For £1000 you could get a beautiful real rug - why would you want to spend that kind of money on a kind of fake rug?

Because I have a child in a wheelchair and, unlike my dirty shoes, I can't take his wheels off and leave them at the door. We have a couple of Ruggable rugs, one runner in the hallway and one big rug in the living room, both have been washed without problem. Carpets don't go in the washing machine and wooden floors are too hard/cold for a child who's only independent way of moving is to roll on the floor.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 24/01/2026 12:10

Would you really be able to fit a large rug in your machine? I wouldn’t.
