AIBU to think this is a bit nuts? Trans woman is being praised online for still working at 37 weeks into her "simulated" pregnancy

I have just read on Facebook about this transgender woman, Gabrielle Darone, aged 32, who simulated a pregnancy last year in order to address "gender dysphoria about not being able to carry a child". She wore a fake belly and simulated morning sickness, breathing difficulties, tiredness and other symptoms. She blogged about her experience and received a lot of praise online for still continuing to work at 37 weeks into her "pregnancy".

AIBU to think this is just crazy? Wearing a fake belly and pretending to have pregnancy symptoms is absolutely NOTHING like the real difficulties that women who are actually pregnant have to go through. Sometimes I think I am on a different planet.

What kind of person allows this man access to their grandchildren?

An utterly depraved one. And it wasn't just the grandfather, either. It was both of them.

Clarabell77 · 21/01/2026 19:05

He had already fathered two children. 🤢

She should remember that lots of bio women aren”t able to experience pregnancy either. It’s not an automatic part of being a woman, nor is it a right.

Look up the miscarriage and infertility groups where women have had to cope with men with trans identities joining, on the grounds that they are infertile women. And imagine women who have lost babies having to deal with a man listening and gathering the experience of being with them, and making them listen and provide attention to his not having the kind of body that conceives.

ParmaVioletTea · 21/01/2026 19:12

oooo I'm post-menopausal, so according to some TRAs, I'm literally a man.

I think I'll simulate pregnancy - I wouldn't mind 6 months of maternity leave, sitting on my arse & eating chocolate all day, on full pay.

If these people are so desperate to be women/female why don't they have a go at stimulating the pain from endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine polyps, pcos, pelvic floor issues, prolapses, periods so heavy they become dangerously anaemic.....?

I'm more than happy to give them some ideas from my own experience. I can stab them in the lower gut and pelvic area repeatedly to represent my endo/adeno pain, kick them up the 'vag' and butt so they can experience javelin arse, drain half their blood so they can see stars due to their low ferritin levels when they simply climb the stairs and I can wake them up several times during the night to change period san wear that they've soaked through. I could then accompany them to the doctors to be told time and time again they will have to put up with all of these life destroying issues because they are, after all women and some women have to go through these things.

Funny how they aren't interested in all those 'womany' things?

Lots of transphobic women here piling on against this very courageous individual. Gabrielle has got more balls than any of you.

Well he certainly has more balls than me. Two, to be precise.
HE is not courageous, he’s a manipulative, deluded POS.

There's a male trans activist who wants to get a womb transplant so he can get pregnant and then have an abortion because he wants to be the first transwoman to have an abortion.

Oh God. A new low. They can all fuck off. I will never understand how this madness became a feature of our society.

I've just read up on a lot of the extra details that I'd missed.

I'm normally quite supportive of trans rights but this person is so clearly mentally ill it is hard to not conclude that there is something seriously wrong with them.

Sounds to me like you’ve not paid much attention to what is going on and have been “normally quite supportive of trans rights” because you like the idea of “being kind” but have turned a blind eye to the many many horror shows.

Have you any self awareness of how ridiculous it sounds to be pandering to the “identity” of a creepy male fantasist?

Oh yeah, that famous story that only exists on X and Facebook... 🙄

That post has been doing the rounds for YEARS. If it was ever true its long out of date. I suspect it was/ is rage bait for interaction, I wouldn't trust facebook for your news, I see some absolute ridiculous stories and AI pics. I would love to know if you could find an actual reputable source.

Stop letting facts get in the way of pearl clutching!!

I`ll take pearl clutching over these creepy men any day. You want them, they are all yours.

The point of the story is about his Facebook posts but he has also made his own blog about it and there is a video. If you rtft you will see them.

While I realise the temptation to wish this had never happened and this man wasn’t backed by ‘trans allies’ to the detriment of women, it sadly remains true.

There are also many other similar situations where these disordered men are enabled to play out their fetish around pregnancy, breastfeeding and childbirth and harm women and even babies. You can find some being celebrated by the BBC and in Australian media The UK one was some sort of politician - I can’t remember now.

To anyone thinking that ‘I support trans rights but not this’ - as pp very astutely pointed out earlier - this IS trans rights. The Stonewall/trans mantras included ‘Acceptance without exception’. ‘You are what you say you are’. And just for good measure, some organisations involved with young children pushed the paedophile slogan ‘Love is love’.

It was widely known that this was a paedophile slogan pushed by groups like PIE (the Paedophile Information Exchange - as endorsed by Harriet Harman no less) but when this was pointed out, instead of reacting with horror, the organisations doubled down revealing their true intentions.

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2026 07:49

Women expressing their horror at male abuse are 'pearl clutching' and must be shamed.

In virtue signalling your unquestioning support of trans ideology, you reveal your on misogyny towards women.

Maternity leave does not consist of “sitting on my arse & eating chocolate all day”. For any engaged parent, maternity leave is hard work - recovering from birth, adapting to a new sense of self, whilst learning how to provide for a tiny person wholly dependent on you.

And very few women get “full pay” for 6 months. Only those with gold plated maternity leave schemes, usually at corporates where they’ve worked hard on their careers for a number of years.

I can say all of that without ever having been on maternity leave myself. Have some empathy, rather than being a sexist twat.

RedAndGreenShouldAlwaysBeSeen · 22/01/2026 09:14

Surely Parma's point was that her simulated pregnancy would entail a maternity leave of sitting on her arse? I don't think she was defending misogyny here!

I think you've missed the irony in that comment.

Shortbread49 · 22/01/2026 09:20

I think they need six months of vomiting after every meal and drink consumed like I had while pregnant , being unable to walk or sleep in last month of pregnancy and then having 2 tiny babies is to look after at the same time that will give them a good insight into maternity leave

Shortbread49 · 22/01/2026 09:22

Sorry forgot to add no sleep and a reduced income

ParmaVioletTea · 22/01/2026 09:22

Oh dear, @SquashedSquashess I should have added loads of emoticons. I was being sarcastic. You've totally misinterpreted my post, but I know it's hard in a text-based medium to see a joke.

I am one of the few people you might have encountered IRL or anonymously who knows through very hard times (livelihood threatened by TRAs, abusive tweets & death threats) the depth of the msogyny of gender extremist ideas & activism. No need to virtue-scold me.

ExpectZeroContext · 22/01/2026 09:34
