Curious.

How do you know your DH is “drunk” ?

Chatty … very chatty. Most of the time you can’t get many words out of him

Alltheyellowbirds · 17/01/2026 20:31

Same way you’d know if anyone else was drunk? Can you explain?

Martymcfly24 · 17/01/2026 20:32

Same @ExtraOnions can't shut him up also he sings very very badly.

Stressedoutmummyof3 · 17/01/2026 20:34

DH either becomes very tired and falls asleep or thinks he's the funniest person in the world.

YankeeDoodleBambi · 17/01/2026 20:37

DHs “drunk” depends on who he’s with. If he’s drunk at home he goes all quiet, moody and argumentative. If he’s drunk elsewhere he’s extremely annoying and embarrassing - forces his company on people, does really annoying things like stands there and announces that “he’s sorry for his behaviour” to everyone. It’s so embarrassing. One time he randomly started questioning how long these youngsters had been fans of this particular band and started almost arguining with them that they were not true fans like him. I cringed myself inside out.

He’s an excellent drunk. He’s chatty anyway, but after a few drinks he’s got new mates and likes to bust a few moves on the dance floor. My friends joke about hiring him for social occasions.

BadgernTheGarden · 17/01/2026 20:38

Tells me stuff I've heard a hundred times before. Remember when....

Blushingm · 17/01/2026 20:38

He gets all smiley and says sweet things - then falls asleep

Didimum · 17/01/2026 20:38

A bit silly, very affectionate and then falls asleep.

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 17/01/2026 20:38

He goes red in the face, gets a bit hyper (grins, talks too loudly, jumps around a bit, eyes are glassy) for 45 minutes then starts yawning. Hes a much better drunk than I was. Although now I’ve stopped drinking he barely drinks either.

SidekickSylvia · 17/01/2026 20:38

Falls asleep within 5 minutes of us putting on something to watch, after he's spent half an hour choosing it. I spend 10 minutes incrementally lowering the volume down to mute, then carry on reading.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 17/01/2026 20:39

He's just him but a little more excitable and soppy. Still as loving and responsible and competent. Always looks after us both.

Cappie73 · 17/01/2026 20:39

Chatty and giggly, he very rarely drinks anyway.

Pavementworrier · 17/01/2026 20:39

He hasn't been drunk since we were about 20

He does drink but two is enough

(I am sometimes drunk but obviously delightful with it)

Some people don’t get on with alcohol.

Me? I’m a nasty drunk. Or a weepy one. Hence giving up alcohol. I also used to ‘hoodini’ and leave and drink with strangers.

My sister? Becomes really selfish and annoying.

My mum? Makes 0 sense, slurs, sloppy.

Dad? Mean as well.

My best mate? Hilarious. A real social butterfly and joy to be around when drunk.

Genetically some of us can’t do booze. Maybe your husband is one of us

spicycats · 17/01/2026 20:59

Chatty and funny

SexyFrenchDepression · 17/01/2026 21:02

Slurry, he can't handle his drink and always seems more drunk than everyone else. He also talks nonsense and goes on and on. I really dont like him much when he drinks too much.

NoYourNameChanged · 17/01/2026 21:02

Funny how everyone is affected so differently. My husband is quite an adorable drunk actually. He gets louder and more affectionate and kind, but I’m not sure it’s overly obvious that he’s drunk to others until he’s shitfaced, if you see what I mean? He’s just him but more of everything, if that makes sense.
I, however, am not a good drunk. I might be fine but I might be fucking awful. Therefore I no longer drink. I just couldn’t bear embarrassing myself or anyone else (specifically the aforementioned lovely husband!) any more.

pizzaHeart · 17/01/2026 21:12

Sleepy

Oh dear, did you see him drunk before you started a relationship? Its always a good test to see anyone drunk, and see who they are, sad, angry, bitter, happy, a drunk person reveals so much in 20 minutes that you'd not find out in a year of sober..

Statsquestion1 · 17/01/2026 21:29

I’ve never seen him drunk so I have no idea 😂

2chocolateoranges · 17/01/2026 21:31

I’ve rarely seen dh drunk in 30years but he just acts how he normally acts and that’s chatty, friendly and affectionate ,

TomatoSandwiches · 17/01/2026 21:35

In nearly 20 years I've never seen my DH drunk, he will have one pint of beer when out for dinner, one glass of wine at christmas dinner and maximum 2 glasses of stout watching a big football match on TV.
As the child of alcoholics his lack of love for a drink is part of why I chose him.

ChurchWindows · 17/01/2026 21:37

On the one or two occasions I've seen him drunk in 40 years he get really mellow and then falls asleep.

HorrorFan81 · 17/01/2026 21:39

Fun, chatty, if there is an opportunity he would definitely dance. At some point will just lie down and have a nap. Have pictures of him from various parties curled up on a sofa whilst we all carry on around him

Honestly it sounds like your DH shouldn't drink
