To need a coffee as soon as I wake up?

Since having third Dc, I feel tired constantly. Definitely still in a sleep deficit! I need to have a coffee as soon as I get up (I have to wait for the kettle to boil but it make it asap). I make a second one when I’ve finished the first one, they take me about 10 minutes each. That’s all the coffee I have in a day. AIBU to need coffee as soon as I wake up? The second one often needs to wait a bit as I’ll be getting Dc sorted in between but the first one is non negotiable.

My god , what’s the problem? Just have the coffee. You don’t actually need it ,you want it.

I have chronic pain and fatigue and need a coffee instantly to get up. Sometimes even just to get out of bed for a wee. My DH gets it for me on a week day. A couple of sips is enough to get me physically out of bed. Interesting about the 90 minutes though. I set my alarm at say 6.10, take ny medication, go back to sleep then 2nd alarm is 6.30, it's then about 6.50 by the time I get my coffee, so not quite 90 minutes but doing a slow wake up does help me get up a bit. It's be physically impossible for me to get straight out of bed at 6.10, but maybe my situation is a bit more unique

Having a coffee or tea in the morning is most certainly not unusual. Having one extra lined up for after isa. bit more unusual.

Anyway, who cares, your home, your choice? Is your dh or a helpful relative / friend giving you a hard time over it?

I can't function without a coffee first thing in the morning ☕ 😊 it wakes me up 💕

90 minutes’ wait for a coffee sounds like exactly the sort of self-flagellating twattery printed by the likes of the Daily Mail, just so that irritating PILs, colleagues and people with nothing to do can watch you having your first cup of the day and say ‘Ooh, you know they say you shouldn’t have coffee for 90 minutes after waking up. Ooh yes, it ruins your cortisol and your dopamine apparently’ and then have a little self-satisfied grin to themselves after their eight undisturbed hours of sleep and their lovely quiet morning where all they had to do was get dressed and then deadhead the geraniums or whatever.
So, so little pleasure is left to you as a mother, especially of young kids. If you can’t have a fucking coffee when you wake up, what the fuck is the point of anything?

This post is perfect.
Have the coffee. Then have the second one.

Does it matter? Unless you are neglecting your children or something important to do it then what's wrong with starting the day with 10 minutes to wake up/stare blindly at the kitchen wall whilst waiting for the kettle then hugging your mug like it's treasure...

I don't care if it's habit or need, I get up, put the kettle on for tea, then go to the bathroom. If VERY urgent I'll go via the toilet before kettle 😅.

If of course you are snapping at anyone who dares to talk to you or come into the kitchen on that time or something then that's a bit different. But if not, who is complaining?

Oh, and I'll have at least 2, probably more before I go out. Tea and instant coffee are not something I ration. If I was knocking back strong real coffee then I'd maybe be a bit stingier with it

People have been drinking coffee first thing forever, it's absolutely fine. Honestly the things people worry about!

This. It’s pretty normal!

I have a bean to cup machine and drink about 3 flat whites a day. Usually 2 black filter coffees on top of that.

I get a headache if i don’t drink it, and it takes me much longer to wake up (I may make minor mistakes driving for instance) but nothing serious

Actually seems some sense in waiting. During the holidays I wake up and have three straight off.

When at work. I make a flask. I get i the shower at 7 and get to work for about 8 and have my first coffee at just after 8. I do feel more awake but that could just be the stress of work.
