expatinscotland · 11/06/2008 21:51

is it one of those fuck off huge prams?

Habbibu · 11/06/2008 21:52

don't you go dissin' the Silver cross, missus...

scanner · 11/06/2008 21:52

why get an awkward pram?

Bluestocking · 11/06/2008 21:53

Is it the new Hummer pram - I think it's called the Prammer?

Thomcat · 11/06/2008 21:54

What pram is it?

morningpaper · 11/06/2008 21:55

I had an awkward pram (a decrepit hand-me-down) but the only trouble I had was that people would always walk in front of me and then swear at me for ramming their heels but generally I probably mowed pedestrians down...

I avoided buses for the collapsing-pram reason...

expatinscotland · 11/06/2008 21:55

why get a pram at all?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/06/2008 21:56

Bluestocking - lol

morningpaper · 11/06/2008 21:57

yes in fact, why get a baby at all? they are a bugger to get on buses. It is much more pleasant to travel without one

hayley2u · 11/06/2008 21:57

its not its the prammette from mamas an papas but its so annoying when you v got your shopping on it gets heavy but this little arsehole will stand there till i walk round him, when he can just fre n easy move round my param

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 11/06/2008 21:57

There are alternatives to prams, MP. Buggies, slings, travel systems.

onepieceoflollipop · 11/06/2008 21:57

The minute my dd reached 3 months she was in the cheapo Mothercare stroller. We never had a pram - the "lie flat" pushchair suitable from birth has spent most of its life in the loft.

To the op, it is frustrating for you, I imagine, but other people also have to get on and we all get impatient at times.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/06/2008 21:58

Do you ever smile sweetly and say excuse me please in a pleasant manner ?

Before I had Dcs I was completely oblivious to prams/buggies/babies in general, truly

hayley2u · 11/06/2008 21:59

no i have my car back now thank god, n could nt carry her ound iv got bad backs from my c section so would not use a sling

OP posts:
onepieceoflollipop · 11/06/2008 21:59

Is it just one person in particular Hayley?

I found your last post a little unclear.

morningpaper · 11/06/2008 22:00

slings are not good for carrying shopping

or for people with bad backs

or good backs

buggies are crap because you can't talk to your baby

I'm never quite sure what a travel system is - is it like a monorail?

hayley2u · 11/06/2008 22:01

i always do say excuse me, and i have got a cheap pram now but i just dont get why pwople push past you, if i dont have pram and i see someone walkig down road i move out there way be an awkward sod

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 11/06/2008 22:02

k, guess the sling is good enough for some.

carried DD2 in a Coorie and shopping in a rucksack.

then used a buggy.

no need for a pram.

especially not some of the prams i see around here - enormous.

I think a travel system is a kind of big pushchair with matching car seat. When the baby is tiny and still in the smallest car seat, you can attach the car seat to the top of the pushchair.

That's what I think one is anyway. We could venture back into the For Sale section where all the pram/travel system experts hang out. (are they still there? )

mylovelymonster · 11/06/2008 22:03

I found that the most dangerous looking group of hoodies would apologise and shift sharpish with a short 'excuse me' and a winning smile. I think folks are just oblivious and if they've never had to handle young children/babies/prams they wouldn't have a clue of how tricky it is.

onepieceoflollipop · 11/06/2008 22:03

On my Britax travel system the baby can lie flat.

hayley2u · 11/06/2008 22:03

no just moaning at people out there onepieceoflollipop. so what do people do if they ask you to put down your pram what do you do with your baby?

OP posts:
morningpaper · 11/06/2008 22:06

oooh I love a proper lie-flat pram

I must admit I used slings when mine were screaming i.e. a lot but I love being a proud mummy pushing a pram - even a scuzzy one

It is lovely to be able to make it all snuggly and watch your lovely baby and talk to them all the time

MMMMMMmmmmm

mylovelymonster · 11/06/2008 22:06

....x-post with your last.....I'm sorry, some people are a bit crap and are far too busy with themselves to see anyone else. Sign of the times, sadly. Manners and consideration going down loo.
