Expat! I'm wounded. Have a big silver cross and am really unchavvy. Nothing wrong with disliking prams, m'dear, but here on the eats coast we pram users are positively genteel.

Piffle · 12/06/2008 08:34

expat I was going to gift you a farkaboo too... Tsk I needed one for various failing body ailments.
Still need it like my bugaboo. Ds2 is about to be a pram refused I suspect then we are lightweight buggy types.
if needing public transport I'd sling it personally

Habbibu · 12/06/2008 08:42

eats coast? East coast. Freudian slip - haven't had breakfast yet... And no, I don't use pram on public transport - there just isn't room. But it has always been lovely for walks, and then I can leave her in the garden asleep when we get back.

I'd have helped you. Where do you like H?

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 08:45

You should be able to fold the pramette one-handed (mind you I never quite managed it). Why can't you get it on the bus? I foudn it was pretty good for London buses as not too wide or hige.

Can;t help with nobby people cluttering up the pavement: as MP suggested, go for the ankles

hayley2u · 12/06/2008 09:57

just if a bus comes with the big post in the middle the ust watch ou or say wait for another bus makes me so mad , plus i dont like the idea of giving my baby to soe complete stranger

I think that's just the way it is. It is better than it was. The pole is there for saftey reasons. It's hard for people in wheelchairs too. I used to strategise with bus stops, going to the one at the terminus (which was possible for me to do at the time) so I was always guarenteed a space

monkey our terminus is about 20 minutes away if i go there i might as just keep on walking.

I have a Silver Cross. I'm more emo than anything else. Can I come play please?

I use a smaller stroller for days where buses may be necessary. Although I have been known to take the Silver Cross apart.

expat I think you must live in the same town as me! There is a certain breed of (young) mums from a certain area of town that favour 'big fuck off' prams. The even have their own wee section in the local pram shop!

SantaBarbara · 13/06/2008 15:34

Going back to the start of this thread when OP talked about having to push her pram around people who don't get out of her way......

OP, some people always end up walking around people who expect to barge on through. Prams don't really come into it. Stand your ground. If they look like they think you're going to walk round them, stand still. Then they have to walk around you. Haha.

Then when you're getting on the bus you just HAVE to demand help. Pass someone the baby. They won't make off with him. Pass someone else the shopping. They will help. They just don't realise until you make them.

nippersnappers · 13/06/2008 15:47

I was pushing my 3 wheeler buggy into a lift the other day and as I was just moving forward, a group of 3 woman and a young teenager stepped over the front wheel bit to get past me instead of walking around me.

My mother had to hold me back I tell ya.
