For the people who never mention it or think it about it don’t you ever book a birthday meal out, have a party or a few people over, book a night in a hotel or go to a show etc etc for your birthday?

My birthday is christmas day so it's a complete non event.

My birthday is mid January, so I go from the 1st.

In what context? As PPs have said, as an adult, I don't go about saying my birthday is coming up, unless I'm making plans with specific friends / family...

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 01/01/2026 17:16

Now as mine’s next week.

I mention it to friends and family when chatting, for example to my friend I’ll say something like I’m getting my haircut next week so it will be nice for birthday the following week . Or we’ll go shopping and I’ll mention I’m looking for a new top to wear to X event on my birthday or that I’ve booked a few days away next month for my birthday and so on.

Maybe a couple of days before. Only more if inviting people say for drinks or a meal.

What do you mean? Surely not like it’s almost birthday so we are doing this, I’m choosing this etc? I can’t think of a way I would shoe horn it in 😁
