Did anyone else have a perfectly fine, or even nice, Christmas?

MN seems to be full of threads about awful husbands, families, and visitors.

Did anyone else have a perfectly fine/nice Christmas?

Mine was nice. I cooked for extended family and food was lovely, and low-stress. Family members were perfectly well behaved (even the more difficult characters!). Received some lovely presents, and gifts I gave were well-received.

All in all, a lovely Christmas.

Mine was so lovely, full of laughter, fun times and spending time with family.

InLoveWithAI · 30/12/2025 22:58

It's been amazing. Best Christmas I've had for a long time. Maybe ever!

All my family around me, us being ridiculous. Lots of great food and fantastic wine.

I'm so very lucky to be surrounded by so much love!

Christmaseree · 30/12/2025 22:59

Mine was nice, no arguments, broken boilers, major illnesses or other disasters, I’ll take that.

Fernsrus · 30/12/2025 23:06

Mine was nice, and uneventful. The younger people laughed together every evening.

minskspies · 31/12/2025 13:05

Very lowkey here. Just us, the kids and one set of grandparents. Everybody pitched in so no one was left with all the cooking and clearing up. No strict timescales. No heavy drinking or high jinx. Fish n Chips Christmas Eve so no cooking and washing up. DH and I went for a drink at the pub (Irish Whiskey for me, pint of Guinness for himself) followed by Midnight Mass at the church opposite the pub. Mass was absolutely beautiful and really grounding. Boxing day a friend we hadn't seen for a while popped in and we went for a walk followed by lunch of leftovers. A very cosy and lovely few days.

DisforDarkChocolate · 31/12/2025 13:18

Yes - for the first time in years it was just chill and relaxed.

Bebetterbetty · 31/12/2025 13:27

it was great! Loved it!

Igmum · 31/12/2025 13:29

Yes thank you. We went round to a family member’s house, they cooked a lovely lunch.

Lulu1919 · 31/12/2025 13:31

myglowupera · 31/12/2025 13:32

Yes I have had a lovely chilled out Christmas. The whole lead up was chilled too. It felt like a pre-Instagram kind of Christmas. ❤️🎄

Coffeeishot · 31/12/2025 13:33

Yes our Christmas was fine it was just me and Dh this year, I did the presents and wrapped he shopped for and cooked the food, I visited my parents for a couple of hours and our Dc visited before they went to respective in laws, nothing major or exciting.

WalkDontWalk · 31/12/2025 13:34

Lovely, thanks.

randomchap · 31/12/2025 13:35

Yep. Breakfast sandwiches followed by presents. Picked up mum and one of her friends. Cooked an excellent dinner.

Played games, had a laugh.

No dramas, arguments, or stress.

The only thing is days like that make me miss my late wife. I know she would have loved it

Rainbowcat77 · 31/12/2025 13:35

Yes I can relate to this, my family are lovely, we all get on and there’s pretty much never any real drama.
There’s a lot to be said for a peaceful family Christmas but there’s not a lot of material for a Mumsnet thread there 🤣

PersephonePomegranate · 31/12/2025 13:36

Lovely Christmas here too!

The run-up was busy but fun with lots of Christmassy and light-based activities and get togethers. Spent Christmas day with family I actually like and had fun, DC excited and grateful as always (if not a little over exuberant at times 😅). We saw extended family on Boxing day, which was nice and we've been chilling ever since, enjoying the Christmas lights at home, playing with/using new things, eating and drinking festive treats and generally taking it easy.

It's been fabulous.

Luckyingame · 31/12/2025 13:40

Yes, fine.
But then, I cut off most people from my life some time ago.
Good decision. 👍

SewingBees · 31/12/2025 13:42

Mine was all I could hope for. A lovely build up with my daughter, then seeing my mum, sister, nephew and family on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. I have terminal cancer and two years ago I didn't know if I'd see another Christmas, so every single one feels special now.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 31/12/2025 13:45

Mine was peaceful too, everyone had fun on Christmas Day, 14 at dinner, thanks to my lovely sister.
It has been a bit boring since.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 31/12/2025 13:49

Yep had a great time. In laws stayed 2 nights, husband cooked Christmas and Boxing Day dinners, food all worked out perfectly. Everyone loved their presents and very happy.

Berlinlover · 31/12/2025 13:59

I had a lovely Christmas. Even though I found out on 18 December my cancer has returned after being in remission for 18 months, I managed to enjoy it. My partner and I stayed in a hotel 20 miles away from 24th to 27th December and had such a nice stay. I have to admit I’m frightened about what 2026 is going to bring though.

BerfyTigot · 31/12/2025 14:27

Mine was lovely too. Best I've had in years. Not perfect- Yorkshires didn't rise much, but otherwise good.

GrannyGoggles · 31/12/2025 15:12

Split time between adult offspring who live close to each other. One hosted Christmas Eve, one Christmas Day.
Lovely to see our 4 grandchildren as well.
Presents well pitched.
Expectations managed.
Cooking, food prep, wine buying shared as was clean up.
Mix of carol service, long walks, park run, games, Christmas movies.
Back home on 27th
Quite nearly perfect
