Imagine you are driving along and you see another car with a bumper sticker saying "Honk if you like pizza".

Would you initial thought be (ie not what you think after reading the options)

a) they must love pizza and are light-heartedly suggesting other people express agreement- vote YABU

b) it's a joke along the lines "if you honk at me for bad driving I'll think it's because you like pizza"- vote YANBU

It would also be helpful to know if you are NT or ND. Thank you!

A) ND

I dont get b as an option, doesn't seem to make any sense.

GeorgeClooneyshouldhavemarriedme · 30/12/2025 13:31

A). NT

Heyhelga · 30/12/2025 13:31

Love this. So random right up my street 😁 I went with A) YABU

CapybarasAreJustGuineaBigs · 30/12/2025 13:31

Neither. I'd just do an inner eye roll because those sort of stickers are very overdone and underfunny.

MsTada · 30/12/2025 13:31

NT as far as I know

A, and ND

grumpygrape · 30/12/2025 13:34

I'm National Trust but don't see the connection with honking or pizza.

Happy to help 🤗

A gay chef I worked with had "Honk if you like big tits" and 14 yo me was confused and asked and he said he found it funny to wink and do a "big tits" hand sign at anyone who beeped at him.

Needmorelego · 30/12/2025 13:35

I'm sure I remember a thread similar to this a while back 🤔
I don't think I would actually give any thoughts to what it actually means - just a daft sticker.
People stick all sorts of nonsense on their cars.

ShesTheAlbatross · 30/12/2025 13:36

This is something I’ve seen online as like a “you know you’re ND because you thought it literally meant honk if you like pizza”

But I think most people think that, as shown by the poll.

For the joke to work, surely it would be something bad, like “Honk if you’re stupid”.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 30/12/2025 13:36

I have autism and I’ve seen this on FB and I genuinely don’t know what the correct answer is. I mean, I do like pizza but I’d be way too embarrassed to honk. I think this probably says a lot about me but I have no idea what 🤣🤣.

Marmalade71 · 30/12/2025 13:37

As it makes zero sense I would assume it’s a reference to some meme / trend I’m unaware of and would ignore

AllStarBySmashMouth · 30/12/2025 13:38

A, although now that you mention it, B makes a lot of sense…

NT

SayingThisWithLove · 30/12/2025 13:38

This was a discussion on Radio X a couple of months ago.

I don't think it has anything to do with covering up the bad driving.

Same. I voted A and as far as I know am NT

tothewindow25 · 30/12/2025 13:40

Neurotypical.

But I did find out a while ago that the answer is actually B and it’s a joke.

I do get it but don’t think I’d ever have got it if somebody didn’t explain it to me.

I think it’s generally understood as a “thing” in the US, and they understand it to mean B.

whereas it’s not as common here and a lot of people just think A.

Needmorelego · 30/12/2025 13:41

Actually now I am thinking about it.... isn't it against driving rules to honk your horn except in an emergency?
(I don't drive but have vague memories from reading the Highway Code about 30 years ago).
So if it was an emergency (ie cars about to crash in to each other) surely pizza wouldn't be something you'd be exactly thinking about 🤔
😂😂😂

EveryKneeShallBow · 30/12/2025 13:41

B NT

Taweofterror · 30/12/2025 13:42

I voted A and I'm NT

I'd never even considered that those honk if you like stickers would have the meaning described in option B

Yes, it is. So the don’t really expect people to honk if they like pizza. But it’s a way of showing that they don’t care if people do honk at them, because they won’t acknowledge that they are driving badly, they will take it as a high five from someone else who likes pizza.

But, per my previous post, I think this joke is much more widely understood in America.

Taweofterror · 30/12/2025 13:43

I will also say that I'd never thought you were supposed to take them literally and actually honk.

ElizabethsTailor · 30/12/2025 13:44

A - NT

But B makes sense now I’ve read it.

So basically it’s a bad joke that has to be explained.
