Not everyone who loses weight are using injections 🤦🏻‍♀️

There is a really interesting podcast on this someone on here recommended - diabolical liars- about the Hollywood skinniness trend. They state it’s simplistic to say that someone of a low or normal weight could continue to lose significantly on WLI and that the evidence doesn’t back this up. Whilst people who aren’t overweight can lose weight on WLI it’s limited and they won’t just keep losing until they disappear (ie it’s unrealistic to suggest they are behind someone like Ariana’s size)

2026NewTricks · 29/12/2025 16:53

Unless it’s a child and you have genuine concerns, I think you need to MYOB. I get sooooo fed up of people acting like my weight/size is up for discussion.

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 29/12/2025 16:54

You would be very slim indeed, yes. I'm 5 2" and the only way I'll ever be 7 stone is when I'm dead or in a dungeon being starved to death by captors, but for some people it will be their normal, natural default and healthy weight.

I have a friend who always looks impossibly, implausibly tiny to me but she eats, she's fit and healthy, very sporty, runs a lot and is just naturally built like a little sparrow. She doesn't look anorexic though, her face isn't hollow, her bones don't stick out horribly, she doesn't look in any way scarily thin, just very very slim. When she turns sideways I marvel at how she can actually fit all her organs in her torso.

Pranksters · 29/12/2025 16:57

That was more or less my weight until I had children.

HeidiLite · 29/12/2025 16:58

why are you asking? Are you worried about someone? Have you lost weight and want to hear how tiny you are?

OneOfEachPlease · 29/12/2025 16:59

Yet another OP who drops a controversial but uncontextualised post and then completely disappears. Yawn.

JLou08 · 29/12/2025 17:03

Yes, I'd be worried. I'm the same height and I was tiny at 8 stone.

My mum is 5 foot, just under 7 stone and a size zero. She’s perfectly healthy (blew the physio away with her arm muscles from gardening 🤣).
Clinically she’s underweight, but contextually she is fine.
Do you know the person, have you seen them?

Edited

It's not really comparable though given the person referred to in the op is 4 inches taller than your Mum.

At 5 foot, 6 stone 13 is not underweight according to BMI (How much under 7 stone is your Mum?). At 5 foot 4, someone should be a minimum of 7 stone 10 to be considered a healthy weight as assessed by BMI.

CatFaceCatFace · 29/12/2025 17:07

I'm the same height and was around 7 stone or just under in the depths of anorexia when I was younger. I didn't look or feel well at all. Could barely stay awake most days.

Very possibly, but it has only been a couple of hours since they posted! 😬

I am 5 ft 4 and for years my natural weight was 7st 4lb. I looked skinny and I was a size 6. I don’t think I looked unhealthy though and I was perfectly fine. I’m not a big eater, but I also didn’t restrict to be at that weight. I have a small bone structure and I just don’t carry a lot of fat or muscle.

Recently, in my late 20s, I was under a lot of stress in my personal life and I completely lost my appetite. My weight dropped to 6st 4lb and I did look and feel awful at that weight.

Now, I’m 6 months postpartum and 8st 5lb. I look slim enough and I’m a size 10 but I have a layer of fat all over, no one would think I’m that slim. I’m fine with this new weight but I could do with being a bit more toned.

Everyone carries weight differently and I think it depends entirely on bone structure and height. If you’re small boned (small hips, wrists and shoulders) with small bust I think 7st is fine, maybe a bit under. If you’re larger boned then it’s far too skinny.

logincard · 29/12/2025 17:08

I’m 5’1 and 7 stone 2 . I look the right weight for my height. I am small, short and petite, but not underweight.

GreenPoms · 29/12/2025 17:12

It very much depends on the age of the person. My 2012 born dc is a similar heights and a similar weight. It’s the low end of normal for them.

HopelesslyNaive98 · 29/12/2025 17:12

Well yes it’s petite but it does depend on a variety of other factors, doesn’t it?

BMI of under 18 but very active, good energy levels healthy and varied diet, stable/sustained weight rather than rapid weight loss, possibly of a minority ethnicity (Asian women, for example, tend to be healthier at lower weights), likely quiet young… is probably fine.

BMI of under 18 but sedentary, little muscle mass, eats poorly (either just processed foods or very restrictive ‘healthy’ diet for example), poor body image, rapidly lost weight… is probably not fine.

Comedycook · 29/12/2025 17:20

Isn't it funny how posters are queuing up to tell us that it's absolutely fine to be underweight and it doesn't cause any adverse health issues...yet if someone is a pound overweight they must have a myriad of health issues. You can't have it both ways...

There's a big difference between five foot and five foot four.

Nobody says that. People are might say that being slightly underweight doesn’t necessarily make someone unhealthy and I imagine those same people would say being slightly overweight also doesn’t necessarily make someone unhealthy. But being very underweight or overweight is undeniably unhealthy

Teeny tinies! There are a lot of people with food and body issues on mumsnet. Look at some of the threads about what you’ve eaten today, it’s not uncommon to see posters saying they have coffee, a slice of pizza and an apple in a day or a few biscuits and some soup, or even less. Then they’re on other threads saying they can eat what they like, they eat pizza and biscuits and are just naturally petit. Nope, you may eat pizza and biscuits but you simply aren’t having enough calories to maintain a healthy weight. Other people on other food threads comment on how they couldn’t possibly eat more than 1 roast potato or its gluttony to have desserts etc. They’re clearly not well mentally in many cases.

They do though. There was a thread once where someone asked what they class as too thin. Someone answered with a bmi well under the recommended bmi of 18.5 and others agreed saying they look better when their bmi is around 17. Look at some of the food threads, there is a lot of disordered eating on here. It’s very sad.

I do read lots of posts on these boards where people say they eat what they want and don't put on weight...it usually turns out that what they want isn't very much. Vast vast majority of people can put on weight if they eat a lot. It's a tiny amount of people who could eat huge amounts of calories and not put on weight.

This sounds very low.
